  3. I believe they call that "guvment overreach". Supposedly those libertarian fellows are not that fond of that behavior. Definitely curious.
  4. Christ only 100 days? There is no way this country is intact in 2028. How can it? Something’s gonna give
  5. Tuesday update on measles: 663 cases, an increase of 17 since Friday. Lamar County numbers have been creeping upward.
  6. This was published in 2023 so likely data from 2022 or before. Its just a broad stroke on average prices.
  7. He was forged from a hotter fire.
  8. Resident libertarian is more concerned with who is offended by certain slurs than he is by lawyers being visited by badge-less “officers” and being fired for talking to migrants. Curious.
  9. One thing that's been bugging me a little bit, in Empire Strikes Back, there's the iconic scene where Luke is flying away from Dagobah and Obi-wan says that Luke is their last hope. Yoda replies, "No, there is another", implying Leia. I've only ever seen the prequels once, but doesn't Obi-wan know that Leia is Luke's sister? Is that just a mistake in the script? Anyway I've been thinking way too much about SW lately since we started showing it to our kids. In retrospect, it's absolutely insane how badly Disney fumbled the sequel trilogy. This is the studio that had like a 30-movie plan for Marvel that made 75 trillion dollars, and they couldn't execute a 3-movie arc in a universe this rich? It's basically the same plot as the original trilogy. Oppressive authoritarian government led by bad guy dressed in all black fights against plucky rebels. Except this time they couldn't even keep the tone and direction straight for 3 consecutive movies. Every fucking screenwriter and director in Hollywood is probably a huge Star Wars nerd. Put out a call to submit a 3-page story arc for 3 movies and they would've gotten 20 more interesting and coherent ideas. For fucks' sake. I realize I'm not treading any new ground, here.
  10. I’ve taken an Uber from the MetCenter (immediately to the left of 183) to ABIA LESS THAN 2 MILES AWAY and the Uber has never been less than $26 no matter what time it is. It used to be $12-$15 pre-Covid. All of these prices aren’t including tip.
  11. Hebron. Had 13 kids 4 years ago. Won Class D last year. Won our class C district this year.
  12. I'm not young, either. And I'm afraid you're not considering an alternate option: sometimes, things are much, much worse than you thought they were. "How bad could it get?" Thought middle class property owners in Moscow in 1917. And black people in the US as Reconstruction began to collapse. And jews in Germany in the 1930s. And british men of fighting age in the late spring of 1914. And the American investor class in late October, 1929. Sometimes, it can get very, very, very bad. Worse than you thought possible. When you have someone who has 1) promised to make things as awful as possible, and 2) has launched a 100-day blitzkrieg doing just that.....you should consider that possiblity.
  13. got the proud uncle opportunity this weekend to get facetimed while they were playing guitars at Strait. Steered them away from a jr sized Martin and then teamed up with my niece to bully her parents into stretching the budget for a Koa 214CE that she decided she liked and was also the most expensive one they pulled down. Teamwork.

    RIP Mike Peters

    RIP. Sorry to hear
  15. I tend to think this played a similar role in the PUMA Democrats supporting McCain, and there’s no doubt it was a huge factor for the direction things went during Obamas presidency and after. Hell there was a whole thread on HF or shaggy about the way Obama lifted his chin.
  16. Some variation of "support our warfighters" or "get the best tools in the hands our warfighters" is uttered in every major briefing I've ever attended with government (civilians),contractors, vendors, and other military-adjacent entities. It's not much different than "synergy" in the corporate world. Translation: he heard it once and thought it was some cool, exclusive term and feels like he's a bad ass saying it. Mark it down: he'll start squeezing in "Tier 1" and "operators" sooner than later.
  17. Start with assisted negatives for pulls ups. You'll get there. They are a great, functional exercise. As far me, it is time to start cutting. I've been slowly upping weight the last year to 175. Although I think I have a bit more muscle than the last I reached 175, I don't really like that the scale has been steadily moving up despite what i thought was a pretty well controlled diet and 5 day strength training regime. Goal is to get back around 165. Stupid beers and getting older I guess.
  18. I feel like Garth maybe played Takamines? I assumed Steve Earle did too, but mostly because he had that line about not going very far with $37 and a Jap guitar.
  19. Mittens

    Below Deck

Tzarina is literal batshit crazy cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.
  20. Looks damn good. The documentary was fascinating.
  21. Bingo bango bongo. And the entire scenario you just posted is CELEBRATED by "libertarians" and "strict constitutional conservatives." Because irony isn't just dead, it's been run through the woodchipper.
