  1. Past hour
  2. Meh. There's been no visible troop mobilizations on the Indian side of the border (nothing significant enough to be picked up by satellite imagery, at least). So far it's all been on the Pakistani side of the border. This is what happens pretty much every time. A short period of cross-border firing/shelling that provides cover for militants to sneak across the border, followed by posturing that usually peters out. India has played their card with the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, and now they have free reign to conduct hydroelectric projects at the Chenab, Jhelum and Indus rivers which provide ~60% of Pakistan's water supply in the Indus River Valley. In a few years the sword of irrigation collapse is going to be hanging over Pakistan.
  3. Has anyone from the NBA explained why OKC/MEM completed four games before we even tipped off our third? Not alleging a big conspiracy or anything, but strange to have one series routinely have one day off between games and another have two. GS (and especially Butler) lucked out big time with the spread out schedule.
  4. When A&M gets left out of the postseason, the talking point will be: "Texas pulled strings to keep them out because the sips were afraid of A&M being placed in their regional."
  5. Wasn't she a Patriots cheerleader? I thought that's what I read, but I could be wrong.
  6. I'd still rather never play them in anything ever again, but if we're going to, I like it that we're telling them to squeal like a pig.
  7. He should use the money in that box to buy his dad some new toes.
  8. I don't know how to imbed shit but search Makar embellishment and it's out there. To be clear, he got hit (stupid play by Marchment) but sold the hell out of it. Yes, I saw Miro is out. Not really surprising but disappointing. As soon as I saw series schedule I thought game 6 was probably the target based on where reports had him at end of regular season, but hope he's not further off than we think considering magnitude of the game tonight.
  9. I read an article today by Nicole Auerbach. It's not an unusual take. In fact, I'd say it's the common one. Here's a link to the article: Instead of the NFL Draft, Quinn Ewers should have entered the transfer portal Here's the article spoilered: Here's the part I want to take exception to: "But the reason many of us (including me) are questioning Ewers’ decision to go pro is not just about the money. I would never argue that a player should chase the biggest possible payday over any other factor — fit, development, family reasons, etc. And I understand that he grew up rooting for the Longhorns and was happy to conclude his collegiate career at Texas. He’d helped bring the Longhorns back to national relevance, and he’d taken the team to the CFP semis twice. His legacy was set in stone. Hell, even if Ewers had transferred elsewhere for one final season, it’s easy to imagine that Texas fans would have happily rooted for him from afar. We’ve seen it happen plenty of times in the modern era of college football." I would not have been rooting for Quinn Ewers from afar. This is a mistake. I'm not saying I speak for all fans. I don't. But I do know many fans feel the same way as me. The last school a player attends will tend to be the one they're associated with. There might be some exceptions. Probably Alabama fans claim Jalen Hurts. I don't know. But his legacy at Alabama is a bit skewed because of his season at Oklahoma. Dillon Gabriel will forever be associated with Oregon way more so than Oklahoma. Auerbach mentions Cam Ward, but who is going to associate Ward with Washington State any more? Is he going back to campus on a regular basis? Is he going to appear on the sidelines for future Cougar games? The whole thing gets awkward after a transfer. If you start to put a price on it, then it becomes transactional. Is it worth $4 million to not associate yourself as closely with the University of Texas? Honestly, it probably would be for me. But what if I'd already made more than $5 million during my collegiate career - maybe a lot more - and I expected to make millions more during a pro career? The money wouldn't mean as much. There's an emotional investment for Ewers. If he'd transferred to Miami the way Carson Beck did, he'd forever in large part be associated with Miami and whatever he did there for a season. The same way Beck will be now. The cavalier dismissiveness of Auerbach's article - and of everyone else who talks about Ewers' decision making as a mistake - is undervaluing the pull of an association with the University of Texas, especially when that association existed since childhood, and $4 million in annual pay doesn't have the same kind of pull that it once may have because of earnings already made. I get all the people who want to come down on Ewers as being not quite good enough. I have many of the same criticisms. But I am grateful for him coming to UT. I feel like he made the team a lot better with his presence. Sure, Manning seems more talented than Ewers overall, with a higher ceiling. Maybe the team would have been more successful than a second place finish in the SEC and a semifinal appearance in the playoffs. But that is entirely hypothetical, no matter how convicted people want to feel about their views. And Ewers is definitely going to be seen in a different light by many years down the road because he didn't transfer somewhere else, the same way other transfer players are seen differently because they chose to play elsewhere during their collegiate career. Was it worth $4 million to be able to say that? I don't know. To me it wouldn't be, but I don't have Ewers' earning power, even as a 7th round pick. I'm glad it wasn't compelling to Ewers, because I'd view him differently regardless of circumstances if it did.
  10. Gotcha miracle right here, nerd!
  11. I like this cause it fits my narrative. WVU at #2. Mizzou at #183 versus #152 in the RPI. Breaks up the SEC. I think to get preferable tourney seeding a moderate to weak non-conference schedule is the way to go. Compile victories. WVU may be the test dummy for non-SEC teams though. Don’t screw with west coast teams because a number of those schools out west have some pitching to mess you up. They may not sweep you, but that pitching can take a game or two.
  12. Huh? Are you suggesting a bond election to raise $171 million across all Austin tax payers and then use it to fund Democratic campaigns?
  13. Hey!! when i take a pic or two i'll post them. Then you can judge the car all you like lol
  14. Where did Jak end up?
  15. The props to God with all of this materialism, conspicuous consumption and arrogance on display does not align. Maybe it's part of the prosperity gospel trash.
  16. India is going to conduct some strikes, Pakistan is going to act like a victim, then they'll go back to pissing into the wind. No one wants nuclear assured mutual destruction. That keeps it from being anything more than pot shots for the last 80 years. If Ukraine was still nuked up they wouldn't have been invaded.
  17. I have to say, I was really not all that excited about dealing with those idiots on a regular basis again, but it's actually been pretty fantastic.
  18. "Suicide"... riiiiiiiight.
  19. Forgot all about that. In MAGA world, doesn't the "brown" part kind of cover it though?
  20. What's that about pan?
  21. Ok! Well, Steph Curry is top 20 all time in playoff PER. Basically tied with West and Paul as the most efficient playoff PG of all time. There's also the 4 championships, yadda yadda. Still unmoved?
  22. Man I am an idiot but I was drinking Voodoo Ranger and was fired up Sunday. So I apologize to the Surly Baseball family. I still do not like balls and strikes being determined by a pitch clock or whether a batter and pitcher fail to make eye contact. That ain’t fucking baseball. Now get off my lawn asshole.
  23. Another great episode.
