Looked like great games last night but I couldn't stay up for the 2nd OT of Carolina/NJ or either of the West Coast games after the late night at the AAC Monday. Had to catch up on sleep! -
Hope it's not a fluke and the bats wake up.

True, but they're still handy on a motorcycle. Not for backing up, but for keeping an eye on the asshole in the cage coming up behind you at intersections while staring at their phone. I've managed to dodge an idiot teenager and an idiot soccer mom in a vehicle too big for her husband to handle, thanks to the rear camera I installed. They're also handy for providing evidence that the accident was, indeed, caused by the person on four wheels who wasn't paying attention and not the guy on two wheels who has to pay attention very closely if he doesn't want to die. They also provide blind spot detection, although I don't find that as useful as my neck still works. A few more years on me and that might become a feature I enjoy more. One huge negative of the EV market is how dangerous they are for motorcyclists and bicyclists. They encourage people to not to pay attention when driving (at least the idiots who believe their car is "self driving", which seems to be a ton of them). Clueless drivers is already a major problem thanks to smart phones, but EVs have added to the problem considerably. They weigh a metric shit-ton, so collisions are much worse compared to ICE vehicles of a similar class. The number one brand killer of motorcyclists is, you guessed it, Tesla. I'm not arguing against EVs, but this is a major negative that doesn't get discussed much as most people don't give two shits about motorcyclists (or bicyclists for that matter). I didn't see the weight numbers for the Slate, but for something that looks like a Lego toy it will weigh as much as a full size Chevy Silverado, if not more, but with better acceleration, handling, etc., that lead clueless drivers to drive them recklessly. All you have to do is watch the average Tesla driver try to navigate a moderately windy road (or even a straight one a lot of the time), to know they have very little control over their vehicle.

But that headline is going to get circulated all through CFB, and probably a lot of non-CFB circles with people lamenting what has happened to the sport.

Trump sure appreciated the whole red carpet roll out he got from Biden for two months. I'm pretty sure he motherfucks him on a daily basis to anyone who will listen. Even blaming all of his self-inflicted gunshot wounds on him. Who could have guessed it would turn out this way.

What a timely bump for this thread. My MIL is 85 and we’ve noticed an abrupt decline in her mental capabilities. We were out of town this weekend and called her as soon as we got back to schedule shopping with her. She didn’t tell us that she had fallen earlier that day. She ended up sitting on her couch for two days without food or water before finally calling a neighbor (she thought she was calling my wife). We got her to the hospital last night and it turns out she has fractures in her hip. We are waiting to hear if she will need surgery or not. We were hoping to make it to the summer before getting her into assisted living, but it looks like our timeline just got accelerated. -
Hiring a 72 old coach that cares more about his pleasing his sugar baby than football will be an entertaining trainwreck for everyone to watch.

I know many are waiting for the flexiwing for Red Bull, but are there other upgrades that have been rumored for the other teams aside from AM who basically have given up on this year?

Is there an observer effect on Surly, where we can prevent these derails by calling them out beforehand? -
the only correct reply to this is FAFO President Huff & Puff is going to spend a lot of time and effort trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube, and then telling you it was Bidens fault that there was toothpaste around to start with.

Wow. I think you know- that is quite a commitment that you have taken on. You didn’t ask for advice, but I’m going to offer some (and it occurs to me, I need to start discussing this with my wife, about my MIL)- You mention not wanting to move her into assisted living, for fear that will accelerate the inevitable decline. I get that. There are different stages of decline, and different levels of assisted living to correspond: Medical help available Regular medical care provided Memory care My recommendation is that you decide now, while she doesn’t need to go into assisted living, at what point she will have to go. If you decide now, while there is no pressure bearing down, it might be easier to act on it later, when needed. And maybe your choice is that she never goes into assisted living. It’s your choice, after all (I assume you have POA). Good luck and God bless. -
