jokic is a good comparison, because he too has gained lots of visible weight since his rookie year, but it hasn’t affected his play or stamina at all. luke definitely used to be much more athletic than he is today.

I said put in the work AND consistency of effort. He has been humbled at this point. Maybe for the first time. For me personally, there was once a time in my life when I worked reasonably hard at a goal. But I did it in the wrong manner. So perhaps now he can become more focused. He has the opportunity. I believe he landed in a good environment. He will either succeed or not. There's been lots of references to him at his best - Michigan, Bama. So, yeah, there’s a point at which his preparation could lead to more consistency and provide him a legit chance of success and repeat those performances. Going all the way back to 2022, I have not been short of criticism. I’ve been consistent too. But I haven’t limited what his upside is. That’s where I sit today. -

Looking at that bracket, of the top 8 national seeds the 2 seeds are pretty similar in terms of RPI. Vandy (#8 national seed) probably has the easiest 2 seed in Georgia Tech (35 RPI), but it's not like GT is far off the mark of the others. I don't know if RPI is so predictive as to allow that level of parsing, anyway.

Apparently, Luka has 25 dunks his rookie year. He's had 2 total in the last two years. That's pretty concerning. To me, there's absolutely zero excuse for an NBA star to be overweight.* A little out of shape is one thing--not great, but he's not the first young player to not be a gym rat--but downright plump? Luka can hire a full-time chef to cook him delicious, healthy meals and not even feel it financially. A decent diet, even mixing in the occasional beer, and playing high-level basketball 3-4 times a week should make it almost impossible to gain bad weight. *Jokic is the alien exception to the rule

Ordering yourself a badge on Etsy that has crooked lettering and says 69420 is something a 13 year old would do when he isn’t yet aware what defines being cool in this world. -

I want to go back a watch a little of you playing. What date, stakes and playing name was your game.

Shannon Terry probably laughs himself silly whenever he hears the word “Yahoo!” And I wonder what the relationship is now between Terry and Burton. The Burton/IT split of 12/23 was bizarre.

It was indeed Cooper, back when it was a backwater. It's incredible how much has changed. My mom taught at Andrews for a few years, driving down from Lubbock every day. That would have been the early seventies if my memory is sound. She ended up at Lubbock-Cooper, so I did too.

the law of averages says it really can't be this bad all year but this lineup is still full of meh. Burger is a disaster, Semien will come around a bit but he still goes through long streaks of shit, nothing you can really say about Joc other than he sucks, and Garcia has always been feast or famine. Young is right though, these guys don't have a sense of focus at the plate. It was nice when Garcia and Seager went apeshit and we won a fucking World Series. I bought a bunch of WS stuff because the likelihood of that happening again is ridiculously small for the Rangers. I will say that Smith, Jung, Wyatt, and Heim are a decent core. I expect our pitching to nosedive as soon as the bats find their first morning cup of coffee. They really need Seager back and doing Seager things.

As others have said, it's far from campus and now the parking situation is pretty shit for bigger games (I haven't tried LBJ parking/shuttle yet). Capacity is limited for the bigger games and post season. The concourse food and shop feel fine to me but the restrooms blow. The food truck set up is fantastic. SEC teams have been complaining about the lack of HRs they are able to hit at DF, this is my favorite feature. I preferred to play on field turf: no bad/funny hops to worry about, easier to slide on than dirt, no maintenance (probably less of a concern with dedicated ground crew but not the case for smaller programs (fuck tarp duty on windy days)), punk ass teams like Kentucky can't whip lines to crowd the plate, etc. The biggest disadvantage I see these days is no legit warning track leading to some full speed wall collisions. They need to come up with a way to make the surface change on the warning track. TL,DR - DF is fine as is but it could be better -
He was ejected from the game against Lamar for arguing a call. The SEC said that suspensions for coach ejections only apply to conference games. It was a tag play that took place between bases. The ump said it wasn't reviewable because it wasn't "at the base", which appears to be the correct call. He got tossed after the next batter hit a three-run homer because he went back out on the field to argue some more. It was the same ump who tossed Kash in our game with them.

Quinn always came across as aloof, both on the field and with the media. The only time I recall being surprised at him was the Gruden piece. Whatever you think of Gruden or those interviews, Quinn was a completely different guy -- relaxed, comfortable in his skin, funny. I don't know why we didn't see that guy more, but maybe it's just the difference between one on one and dealing with groups. (I'm no psychologist, I won't diagnose.) -
