  2. You need to be telling your son/daughter that they need to be paying very close attention and making some decisions about the future. AISD is ciricling the drain, and nothing is going to save it. It's a matter of when, not if, TEA takes over the district. My bet is within the next 2 years. Everyone that can should get out while the getting is good. Our kids are begging us to stay at Lamar for 8th grade. We're not sure what we're going to do, but I'm solid at this point that they won't attend high school in AISD no matter what we do next year.
  3. The only contrition that satisfies me is attending a minimum of five protests carrying a sign that says “I voted for Trump. I was wrong.” A public display of contrition is the only path to forgiveness. Get your ass on the street, Dad. Document it. Because I want to show you that video when you fall for the bullshit fake crisis that gets manufactured every Oct in even numbered years. My dad has meekly said “I should’ve paid more attention”. He’s at the end of the road and in failing health. Otherwise, I’d make him do this. He’s leaving his family with a shitshow.
  4. Are those tiny or is that tray huge? If you like that and live in Wyle drive west on Parker to K avenue. Taqueria Salsa Verde. The restaurant, not the gas station across the street. TortaBirria Try it
  5. Thank you. I certainly didn’t make the rules and I’m not saying the rules are right, but more often than not that’s how it be.
  6. This post is a beating. Thread was dead for 4 weeks and the first thing off your keyboard is Derka's name.

  8. That’s awesome and it’s a critical first step. Before you know it, your parents will be quoting Noam Chomsky to their Facebook friends. I’m only half joking. My dad was a lifelong Republican. Real rah-rah, tribal affiliation type. My folks voted for Trump in 2016. I spent the next few years talking to them. I explained things to them, patiently. I yelled at them. I implored them to think about what the GOP was doing to their country and what it would mean for their grandchildren. Eventually it stuck. They voted for Biden in 2020, reluctantly. Then January 6 happened and that set off an avalanche of self-evaluation. My dad has been on a full sprint journey to leftism since. Just this week, he told me that Trump helped him realize the ugliness of his own (former) views and behavior. I’m pretty proud of him. He’s lost a lot of friends and family relationships over politics. But those people were assholes anyway.
  9. My 4 kids all graduated from McCallum. In that sense, I feel like I dodged a bullet. Unfortunately, I have a grandson. He's at Doss. I doubt that will end up a much better track.
  10. They did go after that guy that ended up at tech. The problem there is what they have is high end. Simmons is all American level, Burke and Moore (if needed) are very good. The young guys must be looking solid as well. So any transfer would have to be up at that level to make any sense.
  11. Jesus dude. If this is true I really feel for parents of public school aged kids these days. What a goat rodeo.
  12. Le me put that in real terms: After starving someone for years so that they've lost an unhealthy amount of body mass, we served them one meal. BUT, it's the biggest meal they've every seen, and the bastards still have the nerve to complain about their years of malnutrition. Fuck this Lege. Fuck this party. Fuck everyone who votes for them, especially when they've made it plain they have nothing but contempt for YOU, the fucking citizens they serve, who are fucking ABOVE EVERY FUCKING ELECTED OFFICIAL ON THE ORG CHART OF THIS STATE.
  13. There is a major hole in that theory/interpretation too, Jonah Williams wasn’t drafted and signed out of HS and isn’t going to leave school for another 3 years. The hypothetical is if Jonah Williams is a potential top 3 round NFL and MLB prospect would he forgo NFL for MLB. The only player to do that in the last 30 years is Samardzija.
  14. Look, it is human nature to look for shortcuts to save mental calories. Some post-docs I knew basically lived their subject matter, read it all, then read it again, but in their down time watched stupid shit like survivor because their primary passions were taxing. I do not socialize with physicians, but I imagine some choose to go that route, while others just give you a z-pack and a b12/steroid shot and send you on your way.
  15. new tariff on solar panels from certain Asian countries: 3,521%. Oddly specific.
  16. We also have a lot of circumstantial evidence supporting he was the aggressor and as such self defense is most likely not in play.
  17. It's wild to hear that mdma doesn't work on some folks (and Derka). I remember my first few times on ecstasy and can't imagine it any differently. One of the things I've noticed is that in polite society; executive-level meetings catered with food, weddings, and white table cloth restaurant meetings, etc.-- ordering a sugary drink like soda is a class signifier. Unsweetened Iced Tea or Water (or black coffee) is for men of ability and accord. Ordering a Coca Cola shows you are either a kid or poor. But I'm an older man so maybe the times-are-a-changin' and the kids and the tech billionaires and that will change with the new culture. Exceptions, like Mssr. Warren Buffett and our current President (arguably), obviously exist.
