I am obsessed with A&M. I admit it. I see the same thing every year. I see the roller coaster go up. I see the roller coaster come down. I know it happens every year. I know how this story ends. Yet each year my excitement builds. The expectations are set higher and higher. The money is bigger. The guarantees are bolder. The prognosticators even more sure this year is different. With each message board post, I can hear the little clack clack sounds of the roller coaster car climbing boastfully towards the sun. But I can’t stop. I won’t stop. Because maybe this year will be different. Maybe...just maybe, the crash will be something spectacular.8 points

A few things to pass on. 1) Shephard and Green are still ATM leans. Not sure to what degree, but it's going to be hard to do a clean sweep of everyone Texas wants in-state this year. Still, Texas has made up a ton of ground. 2) Bragg has some pretty serious pressure on him regarding Stanford and the family has seen UT's pitch. We have to get this guy and right now, he's going to be a tough pull. 3) OSU and Texas both believe they're getting Wilson. 4) While we have a legit shot with Wilkins, ArkyChad has strong recruiting capabilities. There's plenty of reason to believe that this player is going to wind up at Arky. 5) Either Cain or Major. 6) The Nigerian WR guy from DFW is going to ATM and he'll be a flex TE. He's a total stud. 7) The Nigerian guard guy from DFW is not a take. 8) Gabriel Hall is this year's Christian Jones. 9) LSU will land some guys from Texas this year. Baton Rouge has a disproportionate amount of serial killers in its history, relative to its size as a town. Sort of a larger version of Pasadena, TX in that regard, and probably for the same reasons. 10) If Jake Smith doesn't go to UCLA, Texas could be the school. Not in spite of the other 4 main targets at WR, but because he's an absolute badass in the slot. 11) Owen Pappoe is as likely to wind up at Texas as sarvanaash is to wind up being optimistic. 12) The state's 2019 is chock full of prima donnas and it's a legitimate concern for various coaches during this cycle. There are a lot of guys with red flags of one sort or another, so the homework in this cycle is pretty damned important. This shit is fluid and I make no promises to these being anything other than snapshots of info in time.5 points

Fuck Trump's base. This country will never be "healed" as long as Trumpism is considered a viable political (or moral) position.4 points

Uninformed opinion? I may be a cynical asshole, and I may sport argue from the extremes, but I am not generally uninformed. The interview is part of his book tour. That is not a both sides observation. Comey talk not going away, but here's my final thoughts. Comey out thought himself and ultimately boxed himself in. I agree wiht a lot of Mojo's post. Like everybody else, he assumed that Clinton was going to win, and he felt the urge to go outside of the proper SOPs to puff himself up and to buffer the FBI from the inevitable blow back of the situation created by Bubba and Lynch on the tarmac, and the other aspects circling the Clinton investigation. Further, his actions were influenced by documents planted by Russian intelligence, which the FBI knew to be flawed, but had the potential to call the integrity of the investigation into account. His did his dressing down of Clinton calling her reckless and all but indicating that she was guilty, but that he wasnt going to press charges (not his decision). In month before the election, he sends a letter to congress saying that the investigation is back on, and then just a few days before the election, that it is back off. The FBI SOPs around types of investigations are there for a very specific reason. Comey circumvented those SOPs because he felt that the appearance of integrity was more important than keeping it between the lines. And in the process, he effected the very thing that the SOPs are in place to prevent, the FBI inappropriately influencing political outcomes. I mean, look, I was popcorning with the rest of us as this was all playing out. But in hindsight you have to admit that he made some extreme mistakes. Yes, its hindsight. But that's how history will judge. Meanwhile, at the same time that he is coloring down Clinton, he is authorizing FISA captures related to contacts between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and Russia. Clinton is right to point out that the differential disclosure relating to one FBI investigation but not the other is problematic. But he thought Clinton was going to win and thought that he had to posture to maintain the appearance of integrity and distance once she was in office. Maybe if Comey had played Both Sides (TM) the same he wouldn't have created this situation. As far as his firing goes, Trumps mistake was not to fire him on day 1, like Clinton would have. /Comeytalk3 points

I disagree. His grandstanding while announcing no charges was unnecessary, inappropriate, and purely in service of his own self-image. In fact, his little press conference came as a total surprise to Justice leadership, which had promised to follow whatever course he recommended, but didn't ever delegate the decision on charges to him. They expected a written recommendation that they would then act on. And that's exactly what he should have given them. Instead he wanted to tell the world how fair and wise he was, and ended up backing himself into a corner that later led him to disrupt the course of the election. I don't think he's a bad guy, but I do think he did the wrong thing for the wrong reason.3 points

"Come Dance with Lance and the Runnin' Horns to the Elite 8" - T shirts that showed up on campus the day after we beat Xavier in the Sweet 16. One of the best sports moments from when I was in school. Guillermo "Panama" Myers with the big block against Purdue to get into the Sweet 16. BMW offense.......it was all fun. The 1990 tournament also had Loyola Marymount make the Elite 8 before getting clobbered by UNLV. Fun times watching the tourney that year.3 points
