  1. Well, well, well. One of the things I enjoy about recruiting is that it's an unpredictable thing to follow. Maybe at macro levels, things aren't totally surprising on an ongoing basis, but at the micro levels on a case by case basis, the pendulum can swing violently for and against my interests. It takes a stomach to enjoy it, though, and some of you pussy-rubbing hillbillies should be disqualified from posting here because you can't handle it and your wailing and gnashing of teeth shames the rest of us by association. While this weekend certainly took on a case by case turn for the worse, those stating that we ceded the weekend to our enemies are correct. What were UT's options? Host a shitty BBQ gathering in which 4 3-stars named Biff show up because other schools hosting their spring games aren't interested? ATM has allegedly now taken the position of guaranteeing a starting spot to 3 different recruits in this class. As true freshmen. I guess, on some level, some of you may find it comforting that they can only do that 22 times each year. I find the premise amusing, flat out. To some guys, this is going to make a dent - see Brian Williams. Apparently Leal. It's going to be interesting to see if Richardson chooses to lose his spot on the magical depth chart by visiting elsewhere. Apparently, that's the dangle. Not the scholarship offer itself. This seems like a road fraught with peril for the staff doing this kind of thing. Stacey Wilkins has always seemed like a classic OU/Arkansas type, Pacific islander roots notwithstanding. I'm not conceding the recruitment, but I've never liked our position. Leal is a case of whiplash for everyone, I think including the family. Let's see if that is permanent or if time plays into our favor. There's no spinning on this one that everyone shouldn't feel worried about it, though. I guess now we really get to see how strong this staff is at this recruiting thing. Fisher and team certainly have a plan. Riley too. Herman's staff has been executing against a strong plan as well, but as the philosopher-king Mike Tyson once stated, "everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face". What is the staff doing to hit back? Should be an interesting spring and summer. Texas, LSU and Bama all host recruits this weekend at their spring games. Who goes where among the recruits should be telling for everyone. Do some that we wanted stay home after attending either OU or ATM last weekend? I am betting so. Do some that we wanted go to LSU or Bama? I bet so. Will we have a slew of guys in attendance including some surprises? I assume so as well. Whatever the case, my guess is that if there are any silents in UT's hip pocket, some of them will be asked to step forward soon.

  2. This twitter stream today...not going to do all of the tweets as tweets, because it lags when loading the page, so just going to quote them after the first one. Sean Hannity @seanhannity 7 hours ago I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third-party. Sean Hannity @seanhannity 6 hours ago In response to some wild speculation, let me make clear that I did not ask Michael Cohen to bring this proceeding on my behalf, I have no personal interest in this proceeding, and, in fact, asked that my de minimis discussions with Michael Cohen, Sean Hannity @seanhannity 6 hours ago which dealt almost exclusively about real estate, not be made a part of this proceeding. Sean Hannity @seanhannity 5 hours ago What part of Michael and I never discussed anything that involved any third party is so hard to understand? Sean Hannity @seanhannity 4 hours ago I also want to address these sick allegations that Michael Cohen and I engaged in illicit behavior. Hollywood's war on heterosexuals is trying to claim two more victims. Michael and I both love our wives, and we love our children. Sean Hannity @seanhannity 4 hours ago Our interest in one another is purely professional, and because we have a lot in common both professional and personally, we have spent a lot of time together. What part of friendship do people not understand? Sean Hannity @seanhannity 3 hours ago Michael and I have occassionaly spent weekends together, but any marital problems with our wives are personal matters. The mainstream media wants nothing more than to destroy the institution of marriage, and claim many innocent victims along the way, such as our children. Sean Hannity @seanhannity 2 hours ago Let me make something clear: It is not illegal in this country for two men to want to spend a lot of time together. It's also not illegal for us to both start divorce proceedings in the same week. Sean Hannity @seanhannity 2 hours ago If Michael and I want to buy a house together on Fire Island, it's not the media's business. Do I discuss what homes Matt Lauer has, or who Rachel Maddow is living with? No, I don't! I judge her by the despicable things she says on the air. Sean Hannity @seanhannity 2 hours ago 8 days ago, Michael and I were making plans to visit Thailand, where we would be starting the next chapter of our lives - adopting twin daughters, whom we've named Payne and Locksley. The Deep State decided to move on Michael so that he couldn't accompany me. Sean Hannity @seanhannity 2 hours ago If you want proof of the Deep State, look no further than the timing of their raid on Michael and the revelations today about our relationship. Ask yourself this: If they are able to easily take down Michael and Sean Cohen-Hannity, with the resources we have, how easy can they take you down?

  9. Lost my best friend over 15+ years ago, (my wife), in a car wreck, unknowing of how to raise our daughter I gave it my best shot as a single dad... The years have gradually krept by but I still haven't lost the feeling that she was the one for me, there have even been times when women were flirtatious and for some reason I still felt that I was doing wrong... Anyway, my daughter graduated school & took my advice & took studies in the medical field for a trade, while she prepares to begin college this fall once we move to Phoenix... I know eventually that I must move on, but in my heart, if I never find another woman to care for, I'll be alright in knowing I had the best woman I could ever ask of God already..!

  15. the hottest band in the land! KISS appreciation thread. Ya, we all hate what they became, but that was an unbelievable run of Rock and Roll records in the '70's a with a few more gems trickling out through the 80's. There are a handful of records that put a AUTF on the Rocker road at a very young age and KISS Alive! is right there among them. This shit still pumps me up today as much as it did when I was 7. "Get up, and get your grandma outta here!" Peter Chris sings an all time classic. "Out on the streets for a livin''" From the Wicked Lester Days - "I'm 93, you're 16" Me too "My parents think I'm crazy and they hate the things I do I'm stupid and I'm lazy, man, if they only knew" "And even though I'm full of sin In the end you'll let me in" Ace gets one! I fucking love Ace Frehley. New drummer, end of an era.

  16. Can you imagine the Trumpkin heads exploding if Hillary's lawyer had records subpoenaed, and it turned out that the "lawyer" only had two other clients -- John Podesta and, say, Don Lemon at CNN? We'd see murder boards about "media conspiracies and coverups" on Hannity for YEARS. Look, I hate this president. I think he's awful for the country, for the world, and for humanity. But, thank God, at least now it's getting laugh-out-loud fucking funny. Seriously, the Keystone Kops are pointing and laughing at these clowns.

  17. I will say this (for the nonlawyers). One need not formally retain a lawyer for communications with that lawyer be privileged. One need not be charged a fee for the communications to be privileged. However, the communications must be made for the purpose of obtaining legal advice. Hannity said that he would ask Cohen questions for a legal perspective (my paraphrasing, not a direct quote). If the question was something along the line of, "hey Michael, some guy is accusing me of defamation. Here's what I said and here's what I believe the facts to be. Is that defamation?" I'm pretty sure that would be privileged. If instead he was just asking background information for purposes of talking about an issue on his show, that's not going to be privileged.

  25. Man, I spent the last 20 minutes trying not to cry, and when they interviewed Des I just started bawling. First time I qualified for Boston, I had a horrible first mile (Houston). I spent the next couple of miles trying to decide whether to drop out and try again at Austin the next month. I basically didn't drop out because my wife and daughter were out on the course and I wasn't sure I'd be able to contact them. So I kept fighting. At mile 10, my hamstrings were already sore from the concrete. Kept fighting. Got the cramps somewhere in the 22nd mile. Told myself I had about four miles to go and was somehow four minutes ahead of pace, and to just get to the next marker in less than 8 minutes. Did that. Same thing for the next mile. Did that. Same thing for the next mile. Did that. Did it again, and spent the last quarter mile as the happiest person on the planet, screaming, "I'M GOING TO BOSTON" the entire way. So when she said that she felt awful for the first couple of miles and thought about dropping out but stayed in to help Shalane, all those memories came flooding back and I think I seriously know how happy and how fulfilled she is right now, and IT IS OFF THE FUCKING CHARTS. Gotdam, that was wonderful. So proud of her.

  27. This was a while back, but we make balls every couple of months. These were with pork and beef, but I've been doing more veal and beef lately. Saute garlic and onion in olive oil, add meat, parsley, parmesan, lots of eggs (4 per lb of meat), half and half, red pepper, salt, pepper, and then bread crumbs to bind. . Ball them up, and bake at 375 for 20 min or so. While the balls are cooking make some sauce. Saute garlic, onions in olive oil (add salt and pepper), dump in some wine and burn off the booze, then add a few cans of crushed tomatoes (I usually peel and chop some roma tomatoes for a little chunkier sauce), add oregano, basil and parsley and let it cook. When the balls come out of the oven I toss them into the pot of sauce and let is all hang out for a bit until we're ready to serve. Top the finished product with more parmesan and some fresh basil and you're good to go.

  29. I know it's not a popular opinion, but I will argue to the day I die that Emery saved FMJ and subsequently created a totally different narrative of Kubrick's career. The truth is, he 90% carried the first half of the movie (the other being d-Onofrio's underrated performance). The second half falls off pretty precipitously. Given that the vast bulk of RLE performance was adlibbed and doesn't rely on any of SK's technical wizardary, he's what keeps the film afloat. Otherwise, SK doesn't have either a critical or box office success in the last two decades of his life and his obit looks a lot more like Milos Foreman's rather than what it is today. RIP, Gunny.

  34. Lots of great stuff in here that I can relate to. One that surprised me last week. My son is 6. He's learned to read and spell and we've started working with him more on the computer. We have it child-protected so he can get on and go to sites like Disney Jr and Nick Jr and play around on them. Among other random icons on the desktop, we have a couple of pdf pictures of my granddad. A couple in his WWII uniform. A couple of random ones from family get togethers. Had put them together for a family tree type project for my older daughter's school last year. I was incredibly close to him. Lost him a couple of years ago but he and my son got close in the few years they knew each other. I really didn't know how much my son remembered of him since granddad died when he was 4. He and I were sitting on the couch watching an Astros game one night last week. Out of the blue, my son turned to me during a commercial and said "daddy, do you know what I really do most of the time when I'm playing on the computer?" First thought was, ah hell, where's this going? I said no, can't say I do. What do you do son? He looked me straight in the eye and said "What I really like to do is sit there and open the pictures of granddad and talk to him." I was absolutely floored. Completely lost it. Hell, I'm tearing up as I sit here and type this, remembering the conversation. Kids huh. I love you granddad.
