I think I have a new hobby. I cut through a relatively nice neighborhood this morning ~ 7 AM after dropping my kid off at middle school, and took a little detour to check out a few different areas that have had a lot of remodeling done. I entered a long cul de sac and an older lady walking her poodle gave me the icy glare as I drove by. I turned around at the end and she continued the icy glare. At that point I noticed a 2nd cul de sac entrance so I swung down that street, mostly because I knew she'd be giving me Blue Steel, and sure enough, on the way back out she was half apoplectic at the stranger danger. So, I turned back down the first cul de sac, and in my rearview mirror I saw her scurrying up to what I assume was her front door, half dragging that poor dog. I can only assume her NextDoor blew up shortly thereafter. I'll try it again Monday.8 points

i think Jimbo's strategy is to talk at 100 miles per hour to where the recruits are basically just nodding. As soon as he gets enough of the right sort of nods from them...that's the agreement. it's Jimbo's version of the Jerry Seinfeld low talker, talking him into wearing the sailor puffy shirt on national tv.6 points

So my wife asked me to weigh my 1 year old daughter this morning. Since she won’t stand on a scale yet, I generally weigh myself without her, then pick her up and weigh myself again. (Not 100% accurate but close enough for what she needs) So I do this and she say complains “you didn’t do it right, you didn’t take off your shoes”. I didn’t even bother explaining it to her.5 points

As well as calling a variety of other posters racist for not succumbing to the woke SJW groupthink. I'd add that I'm probably to the left of BT on many racial issues, but calling people racist or dumb when they simply disagree or have a slightly different perspective is unproductive. If they only weren't evil or dumb, they'd think the way I do, since I'm so virtuous and smart. What makes a person so poisonous righteous that they'd think less of anyone who just disagreed? When all you have is a hammer, everything is a nail. When every (or most) disagreement ultimately boils down to racism, the word ceases to have any meaning.4 points

New revelations from Comey's memos 1) There was a FISA warrant on Flynn. We'd already figured that out, but I don't think it's been confirmed. It's redacted in this document, but the answer that fits in the space according to specialists is "was yes". 2) Trump lied repeatedly about whether he stayed in Moscow the night of the alleged pee tape. He said he didn't. Multiple witnesses, including his own body guard Schiller, have confirmed that Trump did stay at the Ritz that night. Witnesses (again including Schiller) have also confirmed that he was offered prostitutes for that same night. The BBC and Guardian reported months ago that they have witnesses who say they were in the lobby of the Ritz the night of the allege pee tape and confirm that there was a scene between Trump and his people versus security at the front desk. Trump was trying to get women up to his room without signing them in. One of the witnesses is a Trump Org employee. 3) Trump's defense is that he's a germaphobe and wouldn't watch people pee on each other. First, urine is sterile, but Don isn't smart enough to know that. Second, as Comey points out, the Presidential suite is probably fairly large and he wouldn't be in the splash radius. 4) Trump claims he doesn't know Sergei Millian, but he does. 5) Putin may have called Trump to congratulate him and Flynn took 6 days to tell Trump this, pissing Trump off. This is redacted, but fits in the space for the redaction and fits the rest of the context. 6) The Steele Dossier had already been found credible by the FBI. It was "coroborated by other intelligence" and the FBI considered Steele highly credible. The White House was told about this no later than Feb 8, 2017 and has been lying about it for more than a year. 7) The White House knew Flynn was under a FISA warrant. They found out about it no later than Feb 8, 2017. 8) Trump and Putin talked about hookers on the phone. Putin told Trump Russia had some of the most beautiful hookers in the world.4 points

Laying in bed last night almost asleep. Wife comes in and says "I think there is a pipe bomb on the front patio!" I talk for a few seconds to calm her down but shes having none of it. I asked her if the guy who checked on the septic system may have left something and she says no. Finally I get up and go outside to investigate the bomb. It was a broken one of these:4 points

I could probably add a couple of pages to this thread just with the texts I will get over the next couple of hours. They want to take our new boat out and against my better judgement I said ok. One of the girls has a boat an apparently drives it all the time. Last time we were both out there my wife wanted to take a video of me getting the boat ready to take out (taking cover off, lowering the lift, turning battery on, raising the tower). We got 30 seconds in and she says "hold on, I just got a text" and for some reason it couldn't wait. After she responded, I had to start over. She then tells me to hold on again and I glance at her phone and it's on Instagram. I lost it and just walked away before I shoved her in the lake. It took her 5 minutes to realize I wasn't there anymore.4 points

Trump's claim to being a germaphobe went out the window the second we found out that he raw-dogged Stormy Daniels. He might not want to touch poors out in the world, but that goes out the window with women in a sexual situation.3 points

QB’s play worse when they have an inferior line and inferior coaching. Who knew? Now let’s remember that Colt was constantly runnning for his life behind subpar O lines his last two years here, all while playing for an OC who was reviled. Colt and Sam aren’t in the same class. They don’t even go to the same school.3 points

This thread began with a specific incident that illustrates how blacks in this country face continuing discrimination that has real consequences for their lives. The argument since then seems to boil down to a discussion of whether blacks are afforded other advantages, with the implication that these supposed advantages offset the disadvantages caused by racial discrimination. White privilege is another way of saying discrimination against minorities, and blacks face the worst of it in this country. I don’t think that’s a controversial statement, although Native Americans may disagree, and they may have a point. Discrimination rears its head in cases like the Starbucks incident and in more significant cases, like differences in hiring rates and unequal enforcement of laws and sentencing. ‘Driving while black’ is a thing; ‘driving while white’ isn’t. Sentencing disparities based on race are well documented, and have large and long-lasting effects on peoples’ lives. I knew an old fella that owned a business in Austin and hired hundreds of people over the more than 30 years he ran it, not one of them black even though there were plenty of blacks qualified for those jobs. Maybe you can say those two guys in the Starbucks got lucky because they are still alive; that’s probably an exaggeration, but it’s not a huge one. We’ve seen plenty of Bernard incidents where similar situations ended up being escalated to the point where someone got shot. Real estate redlining is an actual problem. The list goes on. The point is, policy solutions may help, but they won’t solve the problem (and of course there will be those that argue against any policy solutions anyway; affirmative action is all but dead because reverse racism is a handy buzzword). The only thing that will really solve the problem completely is cultural change, so that people don’t learn racial prejudice in the first place. The first step toward that, it seems to me, is for people to at least acknowledge that discrimination exists. And that means that privilege exists. I’m white, and it is clear to me that I’ve had lots of advantages because of my skin color. I’m not proud of it, nor am I ashamed of it; it’s just a fact. I really don’t see what’s so hard about acknowledging that fact when it’s staring you in the face: if you’re white in the US, you have a number of advantages over minorities right out of the gate. Can anyone explain to me why that’s so hard to admit? Chrispy? Spanky? Johnny? Anyone?3 points

Never going to happen. Herman, Chang, and the rest of the entire staff do not and will not operate from a base of fear. Even if the 16-18 year old kids don't know at the top of mind that a move like that is motivated wholly by fear, it is there and the underlying question becomes what are they keeping me from? Herman and staff are much more likely to encourage a kid to make all his visits and ask all the questions than to deny him or try to get him to avoid a trip in April.3 points

You don't know shit about me. I was top 10 percent at UT Law and could go to any Texas biglaw firm I wanted to after I clerked for a federal judge. I do not have a trust fund nor have I inherited a penny yet and at age 41 everything I own is from my earnings as an attorney. I worked in college and in law school, though not during the school year in law school. My dad died at 16 and was basically broke, so not much help there. I know it's hard for someone like you to believe, but some people can be successful in life without inheriting anything. Work hard and smart so you can too. I wish I had a trust fund though. Many of my friends do. I certainly don't look down on them for it.3 points

I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.3 points
