Here are some updates for those interested. These are worth what you're paying for them and recruiting is fluid, so keep such in mind. -Marcus Stripling was at the Houston UA camp this weekend or whenever it was and was getting repeatedly whipped by some C/G type out of Manvel. The Manvel guy is good enough to get a D-1 scholarship somewhere but he's not a major recruit or talent. It got so bad that Stripling literally quit during the workout, likely with a UA AA Game invite on the line. Took his cleats off and started watching practice in flip flops. -Mowry is the opposite of that. He's going to be a badass player at ATM. -K Green has a wing span around 82 inches. He can play tackle in college and that's how he's being recruited. Project him to RT and he can be an all-world guard if RT doesn't work out. This recruitment has the potential to get weird, but this guy is worthy of his ranking. -Banks is good, but he's a Kobe Boyce level talent, vs guys taken last year who were freaking excellent across the board. Nothing wrong with the take for whoever gets him, which is likely going to be Texas, but here's some feedback on the relative sizing of his importance/talent level with a class. -Card is not a college QB. Stud athlete, but if he's taken as someone's QB, it won't be as THE QB in a class, unless they're stupid, desperate, or Longhorn94 has taken over the reins of running their program. He's the 2nd QB in a recruiting class who will end up at WR somewhere. -Bragg is the opposite of Marcus Stripling. Just a fucking stud and, continues to be, IMO, the most important uncommitted recruit in this class for UT.6 points

I read the comments on here before watching the Spring Game. What I expected to see based on what I read here... 1. Buechele and Ehlinger throwing mostly incompletions and throwing for about 100 yards combined. 2. Thompson and Rising looking amazing and hitting most of their throws. What I actually saw... 1. Buechele and Ehlinger completing most of their passes for well over 100 yards each. Intermediate passing game looking okay. Misses on deep throws. 2. Thompson and Rising looking like freshman but showing some flashes.6 points

Those of us who support the NRA don't give a fuck about nuance. A discount program, all association...doesn't matter. We reject ANY infringement on gun rights, and any movement away from the NRA is a political statement that you support gun confiscation. Ergo, go fuck yourselves.5 points

This. We have to acknowledge that a faith that gave us some rather simple truths, like: .....is also the faith that gives us the modern "evangelical" movement, which rests on a foundation of venality, cruelty, and hate. Same book. Same "faith" (in name, at least). Two diametrically opposed results. For me, I see a great opportunity for Christianity these days. What has been corrupted must die; only then can you have the resurrection. I know quite a few faith leaders who are driven by the commandments I quoted, who are working towards LIVING the Gospel out in the world. That's what Christianity should be. And maybe, once the modern incarnation of evangelical "Christianity" completes its self-immolation, there will be space for that Christianity to spread its wings. Right now, Christianity is largely a label, and a weapon. Perhaps someday, it can again be what it is supposed to be -- a WAY. Either way, as an individual person of faith, live the quotes. Live the Gospel, out in the world. And stand against evil when it rears its head, even in your own community and church.5 points

Compare these stories to today's concerts: "I took my son to see Metallica. We paid $50 + $20 in service fees per ticket -- killer deal! Totally worth the convenience fees though, because I bought them online and didn't have to interact with anyone, so those fees were totally justified. Money well spent. Then we got to our assigned seats. I couldn't believe that everything was so totally orderly, clean, and well organized. It was like total chaos, except for the lack of any chaos whatsoever. Epic! Of course there was this one rebel who was vaping -- and another guy even yelled the f word. Rock and roll!! Only at a metal show do you see crazy s@*t like that! Metallica came on right on time and the video screens were intense! We could almost see them walking around the stage with our own eyes. About halfway through lightning rolled in so the show was temporarily halted while everyone was relocated safely to the covered concourses -- totally insane! When they came back out, Ride the Lightning was the perfect song, but they couldn't alter the choreographed lights and video so they played Unforgiven as planned. At one point James Hetfield told us that we were the best city on the tour and that our crowd was full of crazy motherfuckers!! Wait, my bad. He didn't actually curse. Which was cool because there were a lot of younger kids there, and people might have complained about the bad language. Little pitchers! Rock and roll! Anyway, they said they were ready to rock all night long, which totally got the crowd fired up. But due to noise restrictions in the neighborhood they had to cut it a couple songs short and head into the two song encore to end promptly at 11:00. Then on the light rail ride home, one dude was totally drunk. Man, it's crazy what happens at metal shows!"4 points

The last time I was at Dairy Queen it was the one in Dripping Springs. There was an older couple bitching about the tea. "We came here for the tea and it don't taste right!" Anyways, the woman waddles past our table bitching about the tea and right as she is next to our table she lets out a horrendous belch. My son starts rambling, "I can smell it, I can smell that fat lady's burp! It smells, like that gas has been building up in her gut forever. Fat people burps are the worst, she just let it rip..." I'm dying from laughter because son went on a minute long tirade about the burp. The woman gives him a dirty look which sends us both into uncontrollable laughter. Anyways, we ended up leaving because that was pretty gross and the steak fingers were greasy and unsatisfying. Should have went to the Whataburger across the street.3 points

OK, I'll play. This is an abortion at 24 weeks. If you're going to advocate FOR it, you should acknowledge what you're advocating FOR. Would you call that a zygote? I'm gonna call that a baby and apparently I'm going to be the only one who will. Planned Parenthood does some 350,000 of those a year. Some earlier many later. That's almost a thousand every day. And they have done exactly 0 (Zero) mammograms in their entire history. Not one. Tell me again about they are a vital resource for women's healthcare. And of course, PP is NOT a non-profit. They make millions of dollars a year ripping babies from the wombs of mostly minority women. (In fact, that was always the plan, but I don't want you to believe me - I want you to go look it up and prove me wrong!) I get that boys and girls want to have unprotected sex. That's Nature's way of making sure we make more babies. Simple Biology 101. (Why do you hate science?) For what's it's worth, I'll confess. While at UT, I paid for two abortions, one certainly mine, the other maybe, maybe not. My default position was that it was a woman's decision to make. I said that we should have a vote that ONLY women could participate in, and that whatever they decided should be the rule. Then my ex-wife got pregnant. We were both in our early thirties and a doctor had assured us it would be nigh impossible. We discussed abortion and ultimately decided against it. After my son was born, my opinion changed. He's the most important thing in the world to me and I still shudder when I think about how close we came to tossing him in the trash. So I don't like murder in general. I don't like auto theft. So I won't commit a murder or steal a car? Should that my sole input on the matter? How about this? "If you don't want to have a baby, don't let some random schmuck nut inside you." That's way easier, cheaper and less bloody than having an abortion. Hey, you asked. Let me ask YOU one more question. Do you really know anyone who seriously wishes they HAD aborted their healthy child? Anyone at all?3 points

But it wasn't because they were Christian. Slaveholders in the South were Christian and they used their religion and their scripture to justify the practice of slavery. Frederick Douglas reported that the more pious the owner the more abusive they were to their slaves. People don't get their values from their religion. They get their values from their upbringing, from their environment, from their culture, from education and experience and whatever level of enlightenment they seek to achieve. Then they interpret their religion in a way that fits those values. Peaceful people practice a peaceful religion. Violent people practice a violent religion. Every religion has both.3 points

3 months yesterday. It seems like the time is flying by this go round. My first walk into the rooms was a constant struggle to not pull in to the plethora of strip mall liquor stores I have mapped out in my head. A real alcoholic doesn't need to do a google search to find the closest source. Each day felt like a week and I wore out my sponsor just fighting the constant urge not to drink. I was trying to get sober because the physical addiction had ruined my life and I was miserable. Thank God my field research did not end up with the physical addiction as there is nothing worse in this world. I realize my physical addiction followed years of mental and spiritual shit thinking and living. Booze was just the answer to the worthless life I had created. I'm not an alcoholic because I am addicted, I'm an alcoholic because I will obsessively use vodka to burn down every last good thing in my life because my brain and soul are telling me it's the best option. It's been a fast ninety because I've been taking all of it slowly. There is nothing more right now than taking care of my shit today and realizing it is a hell of a lot more fun to build something than it is to destroy. I'm writing this so I can revisit it when I will certainly have a day that all I want to be is normal. Those are the thoughts that will kill me. Much love.3 points

I have no idea what Jimbo's tendencies are as a roster manager, so maybe it does turn out that way. But don't you think it's a bit hypocritical to make these comments right now when people were saying the exact same thing about our class last year at this time, only to have egg on their faces by the time NSD2 roll around?3 points

I haven't thought about olive loaf in a longtime, I'll have to look for it at the store. As for gross foods, my dear mother liked to get recipe ideas from the local paper, one such recipe was to wrap fish in foil and cook in the dishwasher. She did this several times before my father led the coup and we were able to overthrow her. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk3 points

Because intoxication manslaughter is an accident, ultimately? Yes a tragic accident. And one made much more likely by the reckless actions of the defendant. But an accident nonetheless, that might arise under a broad set of circumstances implicating greater and lesser culpability? Is it any more or less worthy of a stiff sentence than, say, texting manslaughter, or drive like a dipshit manslaughter, or fiddling with the radio manslaughter, or getting your dick sucked manslaughter? Oh? There are no such offenses. Hmmmm. Well, that makes me MADD.3 points

People have been pushing this theory for 2 years and it's patently false. Shane is not accurate deep. It was on display again yesterday when he overthrew 2 deep routes badly. There was no pressure on him. Shane can't throw over the middle of the field. So in essense, Shane is super accurate on checkdowns and outs. Which is around 20% of the field. Yay3 points
