  1. I have to hand it to you, some of you guys take squatting to pee to the next level. Checking in on some of these threads after a weekend in which another recruitment has sent the Longhorn recruiting bus careening towards the chasm is a fucking thumping. I've been on four flights in my life in which at some point, death or at least a horrific crash seemed certain. What you learn from that is that you're not in control and it's best to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the terrifying, high-pitched screams from those around you with apparently a lot more to lose and a lot less booze rolling around in their veins. The Garrett Wilson thing isn't a surprise when you look at it through the lens that Longhorn94 has never been correct about a recruit or a football outcome, ever. This is a guy that guaranteed Garrett Gilbert's wild success at Texas and supported, whole hog, the Mack Brown strategy of not taking a threatening additional QB in the prior class, same class, or next class. Now he's going on with no filter about how Ohio State loves this Baldwin goober. I will kiss Longhorn94's fat, white ass in public on the steps of Lake Travis' City Hall and give him 30 minutes to draw a crowd if Baldwin ever starts a season as the starter for Ohio State at QB. Sweet Christ. He's a safety take for a school suddenly worried about it's QB depth. Longhorn94's prognostications in recruiting have raped the hope of UT recruitniks more times than Gale Gilbert has been accused of having done so physically in cities where he's coached or played. That's saying something. Wilkins isn't coming to Texas either. Texas is going to land Watson and a top 5-7 class this time around. They're going to pick up standouts across the OL, QB, TB, LB, DE, and WR positions. What happens at DB, DT, and TE will be interesting and could be amazing or ho-hum. They could also absolutely rake with OOS if they win big. We've known the entire time for this cycle that ATM would be a force. OU isn't going anywhere and OSU is going to kick Herman in the nuts until he does something about it. Is he more Harbaugh or Meyer? I guess these next two years will help us find out.

  7. I was afraid posting my $35 combo in the guitar pron thread would be like a Vic Chola in supermodel thread. Oh and it is dark green. Edit: Found the exact guitar on craiglist for $150 and no amp. Seller says it is a 2000 limited edition green and skunk neck. https://austin.craigslist.org/msg/d/squire-strat-affinity-series/6561316894.html Edit 2: Amp is a Peavey Audition 20. Made in USA. Best I can tell it is about 30 years old.

  8. Grow the fuck up dude. The last time you repeatedly tried to offer one of your bizarre internet bet obsessions, I finally relented because you were actively lying in the thread you tried to make a bet over lying on. cue Xhibit joke here. When I showed you were lying actively at the exact same time about something else in the exact same thread, you tried to punt it back to a bet you'd made about a month before that you were also lying on. You reneged and tried to move the goal posts again at that point. I have zero interest in taking some bizarre internet bet with you that you will welch on the terms of anyway. You are an intellectually dishonest and accomplished liar and I will continue to call you so whenever I feel like it. Continue to whine and bitch about it as much as you want and draw up some fantasy bets in your head, I don't really give a shit. I'll let our respective posting histories speak for themselves on who other posters think is telling the truth.

Can't remember who asked me about this kid....my pal Scott spent this past weekend in AZ visiting the big HS out there, this is a free article, all I can share from his site, but Scott did say it felt like Texas was getting a lot of positive buzz from the WC kids. https://trojaninsider.com/s/537/usc-feels-like-home-for-wr-jake-smith

  16. Saying "death to" in Farsi is like when we say "fuck" or "damn" or "to Hell with" some country or group. So when they say "Death to America," what they're saying is "Fuck the United States." But it figures that the superficial and simple-minded easily confuse political rhetoric by a populace with operative policy by the government. For Americans to believe that is akin to Iranians believing that because Trump supporters chanted "lock her up" at his rallies, Hillary Clinton gets knocks on her door daily by law enforcement officials. Semantics aside, given our history of meddling with that country, is anyone really surprised? And again, those are chants by the population, not government policy. It's beyond confusion to conflate those two. It's kinda like when our resident morons kept bitching about Ahmadinejad launching nuclear missiles at Israel when he had neither the power nor the access to do so even if Iran possessed such weaponry (which they clearly didn't and still may not even at this moment). In 1951, for the first time, they legitimately, democratically elected a prime minister who ran on a campaign of nationalization, namely of its oil industry. He was basically the Persian version of Nasser in Egypt or Ataturk in Turkey. The CIA and MI6 tried to connect their leader, Mosaddegh, to the Soviet Union via what they called "black documents" or "black propaganda," meaning they just flat out made shit up and tried to pass it off as legit via phony pamphlets, books, newspaper articles in the foreign press, etc in order to whip up Western hysteria against him. In that infamous coup, they successfully overthrew Mosaddegh, then installed Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who immediately moved to construct a KGB-like secret police force known as the SAVAK, who specialized in Nazi-style torture techniques against political dissidents. Pahlavi was a lot like Stalin in that it seemed that his "enemies list" just seemed to grow and grow. He basically believed that the KGB was omniscient. Regardless, the propaganda still worked for decades and everyone was bemoaning how "that poor man" had to come to the US to receive cancer treatment near the end of his useless life and they were also bemoaning how Iranians "chose that time" to revolt. So Iranians had to endure that cocksucker for 26 years, they didn't have another Mossadegh to look up/forward to because the independent nationalist movement in the Middle East was basically destroyed a year before during the Camp David Agreements, so they turned to the clerics, who were the only entity that had the capability to spearhead a revolution to take down the Shah. I'm sure a lot of Iranians who were alive at the time regret supporting them beyond that overthrow, I'm sure the younger ones absolutely detest them, but the people of Iran needed them at the time because however bad they have it now, 1953-1979 was an abject nightmare to which they never want to return, which is why they don't show near the contempt for their government the way they did for the Shah's. They've had to endure one or another version of a living hell beginning August 15th 1953, and dickheads like Sack and Cyclone apparently think it inappropriate that they show animosity to one of the antagonists of that fateful day? Holy shit, talk about fucking snowflakes. As to this spurious notion of their leadership being "suicidal," there's absolutely no reason to believe that. In fact, the US government was so confident in that assertion that it asserted the exact opposite. They've been saying things like "Since the revolution, Iran's first priority has consistently remained the survival of the regime" for years. Survival is the opposite of suicide. I shouldn't have to explain that to presumably intelligent people. The Pentagon has also noted that to "ensure regime survival, Iran's security strategy is based first on deterring an attack. For years it has publicly discussed its "20-Million Man Army" and its asymmetric warfare doctrine as deterrents to any would-be invader." And of course regarding nukes, the DoD noted "Iran's nuclear program and its willingness to keep open the possibility of developing nuclear weapons is a central part of its deterrent strategy." So Fox and Friends likes to tell people that the Iranian government is rabidly pursuing nuclear weapons in order to "wipe Israel off the map," as the ridiculous myth read at that time, and will soon threaten the United States with same as well. Meanwhile the Department of Defense says that the Iranian regime is intent on survival and utilizes a defensive military posture that relies on deterrence, and that any hypothetical pursuits to nuclear weapons is but a means to achieve that exact end. They also claim, tacitly, that Iran knows full well that if they even armed a nuclear-tipped missile with the intent to deliver it in Israel or the US, they'd be wiped out in 30 seconds. So you can believe one of two things: you can believe the very detailed studies done by people whose job it is to surveil Iran (Iran is under more surveillance than any country in the world), or you can believe American infotainment networks and bloggers whose jobs are to attract viewers by any means necessary.

  20. No one really gives a shit who Joy Reid is- just pointing out the hypocrisy that if these posts were made by a right-leaning talk show that they would've been fired immediately. I'm fairly middle of the road politically but I'm a HUGE proponent of free speech on both sides. I just want to see things like this treated equally- either censor both sides equally or allow both sides to express their opinion. Just don't suppress one side and not the other.

  28. I have written before that Texas HS coaches have shitted on Texas college programs basically demanding they make offers or they will try and shut down recruiting and when Texas was not going out of state at all it eventually caught up to them I think some of the later Mack Brown issues besides lazy recruiting was relying on HS coaches to do the work for him and tell him which guys were the better ones with more potential and as other coaches came along at new jobs at top programs some of the Texas HS coaches started sending more of their questionable high star players with soft minds and weak work habits and less upside to Texas simply because Mack would sign them 11 months early and hit the golf course and with Charlie he was just so fucked from day one because of the way the firing of Mack and the hire of Charlie was handled that Texas HS coaches saw no need to really break ties with other programs and help Charlie out they were like fuck it he will be gone soon enough Charlie tried the out of state thing, but it looks like the Florida coaches shitted on him too with a package of 5 big time mostly flame outs and Charlie immediately abandoned the out of state thing and Texas HS coaches repaid him right back with more soft as fuck shit heads with limited upside it is good to see Herman sticking to the out of state recruiting I would rather see him keep doing it at all cost because the truth is Texas HS coaches are not going to stop holding Texas college programs hostage until UT wins with out of state players on the team in meaningful numbers

  31. Why bother with poaching teams, either direction? Big 12 and Pac 12 would be well-served by developing a strong cross-conference media arrangement and interconference scheduling. No need to trash either one or create an unwieldy mega-conference. Keep the conferences' strengths while shoring up each other's perceived weaknesses (Pac-12's lack of reach into strong football regions; Big 12's perceived ""poachability."). The conferences can remain the regional ones we all prefer with a partnership that strengthens them both.

  36. I went up Friday to our family place with a hometown buddy who brought my Dad over with him. Our place has about a mile of shoreline on a shallow cove in the upper end of a large reservoir in East Tx. We haven't catfished up there for several years mainly due to my mom's illness (F Cancer) and dad's degrading mental condition (F Alz). Anyway, my buddy and Dad got up there early Friday and got some perch traps set out in our small lake for bait and set out a few jugs out of his kayak. By the time I got up there Friday evening, they had a mess of fish in the live box. I dropped my jon boat in the water but it wan't running right so we didn't put out any more line and just fished the jugs already out and from the bank that night. We cooked up a good mess of fish and hushpuppies and went to bed stuffed. We got the jon boat running better on Saturday and set out two trotlines to be baited with live perch in an attempt to catch some flathead catfish. We cooked up another mess of fish Saturday and had enough for breakfast on Sunday too. No op on our line baited with the perch but picked up a couple of larger blues overnight along with some channels. Had 3 gallons of fillets after eat fish 4 out of 5 meals. Its nice to pull up to the landing in the morning and see this out across the flat. Got a suprise on one of the jug lines Sunday morning.
