Well fuck I went back and looked and I’m wrong. I’m not sure what I conflated. I wasn’t trying to be misleading, and I retract it completely.14 points

GTFO with your both sides bullshit. One party is a normal dysfunctional political party, the other is a party dedicated to the destruction of American democracy and the rule of law, and which has sold our foreign policy to nations with interests that are hostile to our own.12 points

I mostly read the recruiting threads and add some inanity from time to time. Sometimes I add a perspective, but not often and rarely about specific player's ability. The recruiting thread at Shaggy was great because it remained light-hearted and often witty when recruiting news was scarce. The threads there were a refuge from the endless repetition of the football board and the entrenched mutual dislike many posters were addicted to. On the football board there was an addiction to contention over any point no matter how meaningless. The recruiting thread here feels like it has been invaded by the football board posters who are annoyed that their readership has fled to another place to get away from them. These posters arrive on this thread which used to be fun and beat it to fucking death with tired observations and opinions. Some people actually follow sports for fun. When somebody writes that it's foolish to get one's hopes up or he himself will wait before being optimistic, my first thought is who the fuck cares about your timetable for optimism or your presumption about the state of another poster's expectations? Who the fuck cares about an individual's crusade to make the same tired fucking joke/observation about a coach or player no matter the context? Example: Hey, we got a verbal from a highly ranked wide receiver! Tim Beck Hater: Can he call plays? Tom Herman Hater: Mensa gonna recruit all WRs this cycle? Guy Who Thinks All Recruits Should be Locked Up by June 1: I guess we're not going to get any linemen this year. We're screwed. Recruiting Domino Specialist: I guess this means we're not getting the other guy we want. All of the Above: The coaches are idiots for not openly doing what I think they should be doing. Fuck Giles! The above is arguably relevant but a beating. I'll not bother with examples of useless arguments that are basically masturbation and should be taken to a private place for continuation. You can find those on just about every page. Lastly, some say, "well, there's nothing going on. What else should we talk about?" That's the point. SHUT THE FUCK UP FOR A FEW HOURS. The fish aren't biting today, why don't we pour garbage in the stream until they are biting. The other fisherman won't mind wading through it and it's fun! We should all abstain from posting until we're fairly sure we're adding information, entertainment or a somewhat fresh take. Goofy is generally acceptable. Sententious is not. We'll all fall short of this standard from time to time, but we should at least try to make one thread in the sports boards informative and fun.11 points

Alright, I guess I'm doing this. Going back to the beginning of February 2018. The shhs have been verified by TFB, but I guess they could be wrong: https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/959211578330578945 - February 1, Joshua Moore https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/960570963212546048 - February 5, Christian Jones https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/960658098590543877 - February 5, Jordan Whittington. The presence of the ellipsis in the tweet indicates that this is the first silent of the 2019 cycle, IMO. https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/966536539806294016 - February 21, Calvin Anderson. https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/968908302804504577 - February 28, T'Vondre Sweat https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/980095296884625409 - March 31, De'Gabriel Floyd https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/981720984070828034 - April 4, Kenyatta Watson https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/987849677918932993 - April 21, Tre Watson https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/993487295385948162 - May 7, Brayden Liebrock https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/994006535939518465 - May 8, unknown https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/980095296884625409 - May 21, unknown https://twitter.com/BCarringtonUT/status/998951545407442945 - May 22 (today), unknown So if I'm wrong, it's either an attribution error in the above list or there was a silent from January 2018 that was mistakenly thought to be a 2018 recruit (which, on reflection, is also an attribution error). If anyone else hates themselves as much as I do right now, use this link to check my work: https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=from%3A%40bcarringtonut&src=typd10 points

Donald Trump -- May 22, 2018 word salad. I do feel a bit sorry for Kim's interpreter. "No, really, that's what he said. I don't know what it means either. Nobody does. Please don't shoot me with an anti-aircraft gun."9 points

I am a small farming town white catholic Texas STEM guy, which basically means Republican 99 times out of 100. I just walked out of voting in my first Democrat primary. I’ve gotten to where I can’t fucking stand the R party because of how anti-intellectual they have become. I feel like they actively fight against the very idea of obtaining knowledge.7 points

It wasn't nostalgia. Your earlier post suggests another straw man about those waxing poetic about the cornucopia of rich subject matter from the panoply of masterful posters from days gone by. Sorry the pith ruined your day and cast me as a wannabe intellectual elitist who, gadzooks, has read New Yorker magazine. I will strive to match your salt-of-the-Earth ruminations in the future. Have a myriad of last words. I will leave you with a snobby gif offered in full smugness and disdain for the masses who cannot hope to match my pith, genius, or reading list. I think this one is Smith. He was leaning Texas before, but he needed to make sure he wasn't missing out on his "dream school" by visiting USC. The decision has been made. So: Adimora, Wiley, Smith.5 points

The audacious criminality of this administration can be overwhelming. I know I'm tired of thinking about it. SIAP There Is Only One Trump Scandal The myriad Trump scandals can obscure the fact that they’re all elements of one massive tale of corruption. The sheer volume of Trump scandals can seem difficult to keep track of. There’s the ongoing special-counsel investigation into whether the Trump campaign aided a Russian campaign to aid Trump’s candidacy and defeat his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton; there’s the associated inquiry into whether the president obstructed justice when he fired former FBI Director James Comey, whom he had asked not to investigate his former national-security adviser; there are the president’s hush-money payments to women with whom he allegedly had extramarital affairs, made through his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, and facilitated by corporate cash paid to influence the White House; there is his ongoing effort to interfere with the Russia inquiry and politicize federal law enforcement; there are the foreign governments that seem to be utilizing the president’s properties as vehicles for influencing administration policy; there’s the emerging evidence that Trump campaign officials sought aid not only from Russia, but from other foreign countries, which may have affected Trump’s foreign policy; there are the ongoing revelations of the president’s Cabinet officials’ misusing taxpayer funds; there is the accumulating evidence that administration decisions are made at the behest of private industry, in particular those in which Republican donors have significant interests. The preceding wall of text may appear to some as an abridged list of the Trump administration’s scandals, but this is an illusion created by the perception that these are all separate affairs. Viewed as such, the various Trump scandals can seem multifarious and overpowering, and difficult to fathom. There are not many Trump scandals. There is one Trump scandal. Singular: the corruption of the American government by the president and his associates, who are using their official power for personal and financial gain rather than for the welfare of the American people, and their attempts to shield that corruption from political consequences, public scrutiny, or legal accountability. We're banning media outlets from summits about contaminated water. The fucking EPA is barring media coverage for discussions on allowing an acceptable ceiling on chemical levels that have contaminated drinking water across the country. Welcome to Zimbabwe.4 points

The both sides argument is often a tally of offenses or accomplishments that are equal in number but not in stature. At my house it might go something like this: Wife's morning: Unloaded dishwasher, took out recycling, made the bed. Total time spent 15 minutes. My morning: Clean out clog of baby ass wipes (that wife put in there over time) and reflush the whole line. Total time spent 4.5 hours up to my elbows in shit. When finished wife says I did three things things this morning and you only did one. I do so much more around here than you.4 points

The goal of republicans is to keep the electorate stupid. Defund education, smear intellectuals and academia. It’s working. Americans are amazingly dumb and the results of the GOP’s efforts is unfolding before our eyes.4 points

No, the problem is people like you, who think a party has to be a "savior" merely to be better. Since no party is perfect, they both must be the same, because it couldn't be that there are degrees between black and white. That would take too much critical thinking. The Democratic Party is better right now than the Republican Party. It wasn't always that way, and it won't be that way at some point in the future, but it's true right now. And the only way to make the parties better is to punish them for being shitty and reward them for being good. It's an imperfect system, but it's the best one ever created. And it's the one we've got.4 points

When you had a chance to speak against Trump meaningfully you were too busy with the venal Hillary obsession. And now that damage is done you're crawfishing away and trying to disassociate with the GOP. Quite the heroic, principled path you're walking there. "Grow a pair" indeed.4 points
-
Actually, the problem is you thinking this is true. There are very few Democratic party fanboys on this site or the old Shaggy. We realize the Democrats are a total fucking mess. Pretty clear that you're not paying attention to the discussion.4 points

Why don't you shove a rusty crowbar up your ass? I'm a "lib" and have never had nor paid for an abortion, unlike what our current president has likely done. As an adopted child borne of a casual teenage relationship, I can tell you first-hand what it means to be grateful that my biological mother chose to not abort me. Roe v. Wade has been the law of the land since 1973, and thats not likely to change. Therefore, I think we should do everything in our power to ensure unwanted pregnancies don't occur, including free contraception, robust sex ed, and wide distribution of the morning-after pill. To compare "libs" to the SS is about as low as one can go. You have failed. Godwin's Law out front should have told you. Oh, and a hearty "fuck you" to you.4 points

Worked from home today and decided I’d try to get 18 holes of golf in around 5 pm. I love evening tee times and gives me something to look forward to on a Monday. Texted the wife just to give her a heads up (my bad) and she goes on about how she’s working late every night this week except tonight and wants to spend time together. Fine, I can play another night. Sure enough, she gets off work and goes to get her nails done. Then catches a 6:45 workout class. Home around 8:45 then goes upstairs to watch “her shows” for the evening. I guess it’s totally unacceptable I go do something I want to do.4 points

17th hole, pin front right. Uphill about 123 I think. Hit is little choked, cut 9 iron. Hit it really well right at flag. We couldn't see the hole from the tee, but when we pulled up to the top, only saw three balls. Other team in our group looked in the hole and there it was. My third ever, pretty sweet. Played the best round I have in a while. Shot 35 on back 9, eagle, three birdies, one par, three bogeys and a double. Ended up shooting 74, and we tied for first for the day in our flight and finished tied for second in our flight for the three days.4 points

Sure. If you ignore the seriousness of the suspected crimes, the likelihood they occurred, the fact that only one is currently being investigated, and only one of them currently has any power, they are practically identical. Both sides. Lots of concern.3 points

Sometimes when I’m with my family at a nice hotel, I’ll go down to the lobby shitter for some peace and quiet. Great spot is to find one on the conference room floor when there’s nothing going on yet. It will be gloriously empty and clean.3 points
