  1. Ignoring the trolls, there are some actual regular posters bitching that we still suck at sports and David Pierce is no Augie Garrido because we lost one Super Regional game. First of all, this team's season is separate from every other's. Getting frustrated at yesterday's result because you're fed up that the football and basketball programs have struggled for several years is the pinnacle of dumbassery. Second, losing a Super Regional means you finished somewhere between 9th and 16th in the nation. That isn't sucking. And we haven't lost. Third, we had 11 guys drafted last year. We had to raid the junior colleges just to fill out a complete roster. And we won the Big 12. We won a Regional and ended aggy's season. And we lost one game of a Super by one run. The rest is TBD. Fourth, David Pierce is the Big 12 Coach of the Year. If we win this series, he'll be in the discussion for national COY. If you think we suck, you're wrong. If you think Pierce is why we suck, you're wrong twice. Cliff's Notes: stop being idiots. This is the best season we've had in any major sport in several years, and it's a team that wasn't supposed to do anything. If you're not enjoying this, you should quit watching UT sports.

  3. Well...first you have to know the interconnected numbers FUCKING EXIST before you can “revisit them.” Tariffs are but one input. Govt subsidies are another. Concessions on other matters (military actions, non actions, support, agreed non-interference) is another. And we could go on. For fucking pages. Trump and his merry band of koolaid drinkers think that every issue is one-dimensional, and zero-sum. That’s because they’re fucking stupid, breathtakingly ignorant, and chest-puffing proud of both. Trump-think looks at one input, and one input only. To use a metaphor, in a plane losing altitude, the only thing they will EVER do is pull back on the stick, because that’s the input to make the plane go “up.” They won’t add speed. They won’t go nose-down to do so, even with altitude to spare. They’ll pull an Air France, pulling back in the stick while we lose 30k feet of altitude and pancake into the fucking ocean. One-dimensional thinking is death...and it also happens to be one full dimension more than Trump and his lobotomized minions can handle.

  4. The boomers inherited a relative paradise from their parents' generation. Their parents' generation invested enormously in infrastructure and education, providing a foundation for a country in which boomers had easy access to a quality education, well-paying jobs, and abundant affordable housing, with no need to incur significant personal debt. The boomers inherited that and decided it wasn't enough. They wanted to take full advantage of that and more, without passing the same benefits to their children. They cut taxes, did their best to destroy public education, and left our infrastructure to rot. They borrowed enormously from the future to fund their own largess, while leaving their children a country infested and controlled by rent seekers who inflate the costs of health care, housing, education, and other necessities. Then they look at the succeeding generations, who by any measure work harder, longer, and more productively than the boomers did, and sneer about how lazy we are. Fuck them. If there is a hell, at least 70% of the boomers will surely rot in it.

  7. Well, let's see. First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil. And then the Arabs came and they bought Mercedes Benzes. And Prince Charles started wearing all of Lady Di's clothes. I couldn't believe it.

You choosing not to see that is all on you and your willingness to accept bullshit. So, my big problem with you is you'd rather not know the truth because your "team" won.

  10. Baby Boomers: blaming the next Generation since 1985. I am Gen X. We were slackers, even though we entered the worst job market in years and it has set our career earnings back for a generation. Milennials are more or less forced to go to college and rack up debt that was unimaginable for Boomers. Housing prices are through the roof. Those smug fucks killed the American dream, and still beat off to Crosby Stills and Nash jams, because, like, they were so enlightened, and they all did such great drugs, and we all fucked each other, and it was sooooo cooolllll....And then we got our corporate jobs and calmed the fuck down and destroyed the middle class and look at those lazy kids over there. Fuck 'em all. I am glad I was mostly raised by my grandparents and my non-Boomer dad. My mom was the boomer in the family and she ME-ME-ME'd herself into alcoholism and heroin addiction and an early grave, but at least she didn't talk down to us as lazy slugs.

  13. She’s a randy 40+ yr old woman. We like to encourage that sort of thing, let her be. Of course there would. Add that to the list of, literally 1000+ other things that Trump has done that, had Obama done them, would have been deemed the greatest crisis our republic has ever faced. The hell of it is, they’d have been RIGHT to say that about half of those. The problem is, Obama didn’t do those things; Trump has. I’ll indulge your bullshit and concede - for the sake of argument only - that what you say USED to be true. It’s fucking not anymore. Not even close. Just as one easy example, the Dems don’t have a platform of “repeatedly tell our oldest, best allies to fuck off, treat them like enemies, and lie to them shamelessly...while treating our enemies like allies, and giving in to their demands and wishes, and lobbying on their behalf to our allies and the world.” Fucking NOBODY had that platform until the GOP went full Jim Jones Guyana punch cult. Fuck off with your false equivalency both sides bullshit. Fuck. Off. And burn. In. Hell. Shit, maybe I’m going to push to implement your asinine false equivalency into law. Death penalty for capital murder. And for driving 1 mph over the speed limit. Because everyone commits crimes. It’s all the same, a bunch of criminals out there, execute them all. You of all people should be fine with this. You might oughta start taking an Uber everywhere though, if you wanna stay alive.

Anastasis suggests this above, but the pattern indicates that this is the beginning of his eventual “both sides” position that will equate a pretty good public servant like Beto O’Rourke who is running his campaign in a fundamentally different manner from any statewide Democrat in decades to a low integrity, boot-licking no-show paint-by-numbers-vote-Republican-because-Guns-and-Jesus asshole like Ted Cruz.

  16. The wealthy have no power without the votes of the boomer majority. They can have the blame. Boomers were the "No skills? No degree? No problem!" generation. There was a middle class job turning a screw in a factory for damn near every one of them and they had no issue squandering the wealth of this nation, were the leaders of pointless interventionist wars, started the endless war on drugs, and so much other bullshit. They waltzed through life with the greatest worker rights and protections this country had ever seen, and they've been doing their best to dismantle those rights and protections for future generations for the past four decades. I have zero sympathy.

  17. And don't any of you forget it. Trump is the epitome of modern conservative values. It's why his support among Rs is so high. It's why so many posters on the right may wag their finger at his eccentricities, but will always deflect from real criticism of him with bothsidesism and whataboutism, or by simply disappearing. For the few of you who actually hold what used to be conservative values thirty years ago, there's no home for you now, but you're much closer to modern Dems than Rs.

  20. Every single politician has failings and flaws because all humans have failings and flaws. The genius of our political system is that it is designed (and designed well) to work with that premise in mind. The best system isn't a perfect system, but one that recognizes that there is no perfect system and that uses checks and balances to maximize the good and minimize the bad. And we arrived at Trump because of the relentless assault on that system by people who have no understanding of why it has worked for 200+ years or its superiority to any of the alternatives (along with people who know but don't care because of their gross selfishness). It's not the 20 million or so deplorables who put Trump over the top, whether in the primaries or general. It's the bothsiders and whataboutists and burnitdowners who created the false equivalencies that let Trump seem like an reasonable option for the rest of his voters.

  29. Not at this stage. Herman is only gonna be really involved when you start talking to profs about classes, direction of the program, stuff with the family - how to grow the man from the boy, how the university benefits you regardless of football. For a meeting like this you'll get position specific stuff (film study - chalk talk, etc ) as well as meeting with Yancey (or his team), the nutritionist, and a lot of other player-centric between the stipes type conversations and then some time with several players to get a feel for them and for them to get a feel for you. No need to take those next steps if there's problems here (and we can look to several guys in the past few classes that didn't pass the smell test from the current players).

It's simply not how this org works. They had a much better handle on Bru McCoy as a person and culture fit and still ran him through his UOV the same as anyone else. It's a process and no one is above it.

  37. Undoubtedly. And as I previously stated, I agreed with everything he said except for calling his audience the worst.generation.evar. To me, it sounded like the writers of the show were too scared to piss off the Baby Boomer TV audience. So, instead, they chose to take an easy dig at "those kids these days", who are rapidly becoming the recipients of the shitstorm the Baby Boomers wrought. Typical of the "Me Generation" to blame someone else for their faults.

  43. Just saw this and it's not really that important but most of this is incorrect and the context is poor. He actually took the first shot of the 2OT after a Corzine turnover, a 5 foot bunny he misses I'm sure he wishes he had back. Otherwise, Woolridge scores a layup on Bird, Woolridge also turns the ball over with a terrible forced shot on a break. MJ gets an assist taken away from him when the call a travel on a PNR that Corzine makes. Doubtful they make that call these days. After that, Jordan scores twice on back to back possessions and then has a 16 footer rim out on him. Parish puts it away with a 9 footer PNR from Bird and that's it. 8 seconds left and down by 4, they double MJ and Bulls get it into Woolridge who puts up an airball 3. He's 2-4 in the 2nd OT with a rebound and an assist taken away. The Bulls only had like 9 possessions as both teams were milking the clock. He also made his first shot closer to 1:50 but not a huge deal. Basically 5 possessions out of 9 went thru Jordan where he was 2-4 and had an assist waive off. 2 turnovers by Corzine. Woolridge, their 2nd best player had the another 3 but he sort of sucked. 9-27 in the game for 24 points. Not a big deal, the Bulls were woeful back then and the 86' Celtics are considered one of the 5 best teams ever. Footage if anyone cares:

  44. I agree they would have gone back to back if Draymond wasn't an idiot but they didn't and when Bogut got hurt, you could see the impact on their defense as it started to splinter. I mean, they still had 2 games, including one at home, to close out and they couldn't do with Draymond back and actually being the best player on the court for them in the deciding game 7. Now, if you take stock of what the Warriors were expected to do if they didn't sign KD, it was to re-sign Barnes, try to keep Bogut and then work to replace Ezeli (West) and maybe Speights. Bogut was pretty much done after the injury and proceeded to play 26 games the last 2 years. He probably would have a been a non-factor coming back. He was used up. Barnes would have come back and you never know how a guy is going to develop in different circumstances, but based on a enormous increase in USG% (~10%) he's averaged career best in most top line numbers for Dallas. But there hasn't been a big jump in actual effectiveness. His PER went up marginally, as expected with the ball more, but it's still in the 15/16 range, which is league average. His WS/48 went down by 30-35% and his VORP reduced to basically replacement level. His shooting didn't improve, you could argue it got worse. In other words, Barnes stayed pretty much the same player, he simply had more opportunities to handle the ball. I could easily make a case with this increased USG, his inadequacies became more pronounced and he's a worse player but perhaps this will make him a better player going forward (don't hold your breath). Also, Barnes had an interesting ability to get worse in the playoffs. His all around game decreased in the playoffs. His contribution during those 3 games the Warriors had to close out the Cavs in 2016 when they needed him most? 5-32 from the field, 3-15 from 3, 9 rebounds, 7 personal fouls, and 2 assists. In some ways, signing Durant saved the Warriors from themselves and yes the Warriors FO have done a lot of great things but they also have been extremely lucky and been bailed out when they make bad decisions. They offered Barnes an extension early in 2016 to stay with the team. 4 years for 64-68 million were the rumors. If he signs this, no KD to the Warriors but he didn't and bet on himself. In some ways, he won...... Dallas paid him 25 million this year and 8 million is a ton of dough. But he plays for a shitty team, puts up empty stats and hasn't appreciably become a better player. Assuming that Barnes doesn't magically become an All-Star in 2017 for staying with the Warriors and Golden State isn't hiding the Lazarus pit from Andrew Bogut, the Warriors are not the same team. Everyone sees 73 wins and they think it's easily duplicated. It's not. It was pretty much everyone's career year. Steph will never have a regular season as great. He lead the league in WS, WS/48, VORP, TS%, PER, BPM, OPBM. Fucking everything. It was crazy. He'll never have a regular season as good, it was a great player's career year...... by a ton (about 15% better). It was Draymond's career year, certainly offensively. It was Shaun Livingston's career year. Bogut's career year. Klay's 2nd best year.... etc, etc. You get it. Everything came together in a crazy way and they were never going to be that good again. But ignorant people (not you) simply see 73 wins and think it'll continue into infinity, b/c they're dumb. Interestingly enough, when the Bulls won 72, it wasn't Michael's best year. One of them? Yea, but not his best. It was one of Scottie's best year but not definitively such. Same with Rodman. All of that written goes to say, yea the Warriors probably needed KD last year b/c Bogut would have been hurt and Barnes would have probably been the same meek player. Kyrie was still great and the Cavs were better offensively. Certainly they needed him this year. Houston probably beats them in 5 with Barnes and Bogut.
