  1. That's how terrorists groups are. Small pockets of extremists who use small pieces of an ideology to justify their actions. So you downplay it all yet beg for legislation to limit Muslims entering the country or immigrants coming across the border. You fixate on the actions of the extremely small minority and want to change everything to stop the majority......except in times where the extremist right kills someone by car or gun. Then.....well, it's just nothing to worry about.

  4. I think it's better to focus on all the effort Hillary didn't have to expend campaigning in the blue wall states that made the difference. Not to mention the convenience of having her government emails accessible on her personal device, or the lucrative speaking fees and donations her husband and foundation respectively received by dispensing with the whole "appearance of impropriety" thing when handed out access as SoS. And how about the excitement of a historic female candidacy that was achieved by clearing the field of credible competitors so primary voters didn't have much choice? The Dem establishment and PUMAs will always have that! People who didn't vote Hillary anyway and went third party or didn't vote made a bad choice, given the alternative. But it was her job to earn their votes and her massive failure in losing the election. The takeaway from a party standpoint has to be better candidates, not shaming people into accepting more bad ones.

  7. Yeah, let's browbeat the small number of Green Party voters and not the shitty candidate who ran a shitty campaign that lost to the most disliked candidate in history.

  8. I'm cheering for the guy to be right for the following reasons: 1) I'd like to land Rian Davis. 2) He provided info as best he could that actually was a better feed than damn near anything the $9.95ers ever bring to the table. 3) The boards are always tough on people who pass on info as best as they can and it is pretty thankless. Not really any upside, and it's a beating when something shifts under you on the landscape and your prior position winds up being incorrect. I'm rooting against him for the following reason: A) It's usually hilarious watching grown men pummel other grown men on the Internet over the whims of teenagers and the false hope they often create.

  9. No. The internet trolls don't bug me. Sure, they're a symptom of a much deeper illness, but they alone don't bug me. Dead journalists and imprisoned kids separated from their parents do, though. That's because I"m not a complete piece of shit, so I doubt that you and I can engage productively on this.

  10. Yup. "Both candidates suck, so we are voting for someone who will never be president in the quixotic hope that both parties will come courting to get our 5% vote in the NEXT election by providing us with the perfect unicorn candidate who we can get behind 100%." Grow the fuck up.

  13. The poors will have more babies. The R's will cut welfare so there won't be any food. Crime will go up, social unrest will go up, the R's will "crack down", and boom...riots in the streets. It will be the early '70s all over again.

  14. The problem isn't even the pissy third party voters going against their own best interests. The problem is the pissy third party voters bitching about how awful both choices were for other people (poor people, mostly minorities) whom they think should be better served by the system (which they were right about), and allowing an explicit fascist to win. It was pure heighten-the-contradictions thinking which is almost always (1) stupid because it rarely actually works (see W), and (2) selfish, because it's poor brown people and not the white college liberals that have to bear the brunt of the cost.

  28. Sounds like you and Hillary dont understand the electoral system and that might explain why you are losing elections. Running up margins in big states is great but if your aim is to win 270, you are taking a gamble. Im sure Trump couldve campaigned differently and won the popular vote. He just isnt a simpleton and understands political strategy.

  30. Ah yes the popular vote argument. Never fails. We are the United STATES of America. Every STATE votes on the president. Every STATE has electors that vote based of an election in the STATE. Not just LA and NY overpowering the masses. Get a grip.

  35. Fuck you.....the overwhelming recipients of welfare are large corporations..... About $59 billion is spent on traditional social welfare programs. $92 billion is spent on corporate subsidies. So, the government spent nearly 50% more on corporate welfare than it did on food stamps and housing assistance.

  36. About 10 years ago we were playing Rockband, playing Tom Sawyer by Rush. My buddy's girlfriend at the time was on vocals. At the end of the second verse she belts out "Joan Rivers!" We failed the song, laughing our asses off.

  37. Stock market hasn't moved and is actually down from the start of the year, fewer new jobs are being added to the economy than any of Obama's years going back to 2010, unemployment is following a 7 year linear trend that has nothing to do with Trump, gas is up, wages are mostly stagnant, and he's starting trade wars with allies that are putting Americans out of work. Everyone is happy in red state land because you're a bunch of gullible welfare mooching idiots who believe every lie Fox tells you. But congrats on sticking it to the gays. At least you have that going for you.

  40. Y'all have covered it pretty well starting with Doug-O at the top of the page. I'll just add that part of the problem with some of us not following the plot(s) is that the story is not good enough to invite me to think about it. The last two episodes were basically drawn out lectures about free will and freedom that could have been written by a couple of bright college freshmen. The filmmakers are so sure that we are hanging onto to every word and empathizing so profoundly with each cliche act of self-sacrifice that they didn't bother to make the show interesting. They're not smart enough to enlighten me about life. This is what I mean about a show falling in love with itself. TWD is another prime example. They think the audience is enthralled just to be in the same room as the characters in the show. The characters are so diminished by the end of the season that, as stated above, I don't really care much about any of them. Bernard's constant befuddled passivity and Dolores' unexplained mercilessness to her own kind reduced them to two dimensions. Maeve is the most wasted asset in the show. Her cunning and grasp of what is going on is melted by schmaltz that the creators of the show insist on constantly vomiting on us. The music was oppressive and sappy as well. Big disappointment overall.
