Again, just for giggles...imagine what Fox and the Trumpkins would be saying and doing if obama had said that. Seriously, the POTUS, when asked about our greatest foe....identified a collection of our greatest allies. We have an enemy asset in the White House.7 points

I used to play that game Tell myself that I’m not that kind of Republican Then I would turn around and help send exactly that kind of Republican to Austin or Washington. The GOP has embraced big, intrusive, and bloated government at state and national. Arguably, it’s one of the largest parts of the GOP’s identity these days. If you truly don’t support that, then I expect you will be voting against Cruz, Danica Patrick, etc. come November. Otherwise, you are a part of the problem and you don’t get to pretend that you’re not that kind of Republican.6 points

The trump campaign colluded with a foreign enemy to win an election. The only remaining question is did trump himself know. Since i wasn’t born yesterday and my intelligence is slight higher than a potted plant, I’m gonna conclude that he did. Unless of course you subscribe to the theory that trump is just too darn ethical to have done such a thing6 points

While I believe both sides will have people go down for this kind of stuff, at the end of the day, a Republican President is actually doing everything he can on social media to discredit the investigation, and Republican members of Congress are trying to discredit it through hearings over FBI personnel who were fired for fucking around. Oh, and Republican members of Congress are threatening impeachment of DOJ officials in order to shut down the investigation. There maybe Democrats who are guilty of it, but it’s the GOP who is openly acting like they are guilty.5 points

Of course it's more complex than that. I'm not sure what your comments about Islamic terrorism have to do with the subject. Islamic terrorism is a 20th century phenomenon that dates back decades. A new chapter was started when U.S. forces under Bush 41 set up bases in Saudi Arabia in order to evict Saddam Hussein from Kuwait. That was the motivation for bin Laden and Al Qaeda to target the U.S. mainland, specifically the twin towers, for terrorist attacks. After Bush 43 deposed Saddam, which had absolutely nothing to do with Islamic terrorism and everything to do with getting Dubya re-elected, lo and behold America's chosen leader of Iraq -- Nouri al-Maliki -- won the election. Of course we manipulated that election. And we did it with the help of MI6. You know, our closest allies? Friends who warned us about the Russians and their apparent collusion with the Trump campaign? This is how the spy game works. Our spies go to other countries in order to commit espionage, a crime in those countries punishable by imprisonment or death, in order to protect our interests. When other countries' spies do the same to us, they're criminals and should be caught and punished. It is appropriate for the FBI to do that police work. That's their job. Anyone who defends foreign spies because we have spies too is as much of a fucking moron as anyone who delights in losing football games because both teams are trying to score.5 points

And just so we’re clear. There is no “both sides” to trump. You either oppose him and his ultimate quest for dictatorship, which he doesn’t even bother to hide, and the wrecking of this country, or you don’t. There is no nuance. If there is it’s something you invented in your head to justify your rot.5 points

I think quite a few Republican congressman have gotten money that came from Russian sources through the NRA and other groups. Now that someone is digging in to Russian involvement in our elections, it makes them real nervous and it explains why they are supporting a losing cause in Trump. Many of them are taking shots at the Mueller investigation out of desperate self-preservation.5 points

Update on Greyson: surgery was a smashing success. First two people on scene of wreck were a firefighter and anesthesiologist. He was following his mother in his car so she saw it all happen in her rear view mirror. Buddy/Uncle is a doc here in Dallas and was down there to see him. Greyson was walking the halls like nothing had happened. He’s got to wear the neck deal for 3 months and can’t play baseball for one year. What constitutes “baseball” is unknown. He’s not supposed to lift anything over five pounds. He was on his way to start summer school on Mon and practice with team. Obviously, that’s not going to happen but there is hope he’ll be in school when the fall semester starts. This is an unfuckingbelievable story. He veered off road into a ravine on 290, shot up the side and launched his Audi into the air. It hit, sheared the top off and then rolled three times. From hearing my buddies — uncle and spine surgeon here — it’s amazing he wasn’t killed instantly.5 points

He certainly needs to step away from twitter. With respect to the deadlines... say it would take some most companies 10 years to design and make a new widget. The CEO of some other company says he can do it in 2 years. He ends up being really late and in the end it takes him five years. You dipshits would be screaming about how incompetent this guy is because he was 3!!?>!?! years late getting the new product to market - meanwhile the competition is just starting early phase prototype testing after five years. By the time the S came out and was clearly a hit ALL major car companies were trying to make an entry level EV car. All of them. Chevy had been working on the Volt for 5+ years before that, and it came out and was a piece of shit. Since the S came out the X and the 3 have been released. The entry level version of the 3 isnt available yet, but it clearly will be before any of the competitors are ready. This idea that because he misses his self imposed deadlines then that means he is an incompetent business man is stupid. He did it faster and thus far better than anyone else has. Are you not aware that putting other people's stuff into orbit is already a profitable industry? And SpaceX is has the lowest prices AND the highest margin per launch of any company. He starts in 2002 or whatever with SpaceX and $100MM and in ~15 years has completely destroyed the market - most of which is run by highly subsidized government defense contractors. And you think he is a fraud because he is annoying on twitter?5 points

Unbridled democracy needs to be stifled for the system to work most efficiently , and the Founders wisely set up the Senate as a check on pure populist ass-hattery. That is why the six year term - to allow an unpopular vote to be forgotten down the road when election time arrives, and new issues are in the forefront. And it (the Senate as an institution) was designed to give small population/small geographic square footage states the power to confront the interests of larger population states with more economic power, influence and more votes in the House, by making sure those less powerful states had an equal amount of Senators. Brilliant, really.4 points

Why Trump lies (Garry Kasparov on Preet Bharara show) Ever been aghast at the gall of Trump to lie every time he moves his lips? Even with videos, written statements, and real observations to prove that what he says is a lie? Why would he not be ashamed? Why would he not care that he hurts his credibility? Is he insane? Okay, that's not a fair question. Preet Bharara had a Russian guest on his podcast talk show ("Stay Tuned with Preet" ) on 6/28/18. Garry Kasparov, a Russian chess player and vocal Putin critic. He made some interesting statements about Putin and gave some insights about what makes Putin tick and how things work in Russia. One of the points he covered was lying. Putin lies about everything. And pushes propaganda. It's not any particular lie that's important. It's that everything is questionable. It's destabilizing. It's not pushing a particular truth. It's making people believe you can't trust in anything. It destroys the notion of truth. If nothing is true, then everything is relative. Putin is a merchant of doubts. Truth is relative. Everyone's corrupt. Everyone's bad. There's just Russia, surrounded by the evil countries. Only Putin can protect Russia. It's easy to poison people with an abundance of false information. If truth is relative and can't be relied upon, then there is confusion and general doubt about everything. Chaos. What is going on in the U.S. is absolutely like what Putin has done, Kasparov said. It seems "they" have succeeded in spreading doubts among the American public. If the public can't believe a special prosecutor, "they" have succeeded. He also said that Putin looks strong only because the opposition is weak. It's all about looking invincible, not actually being invincible. It's all pushing an agenda, looking successful, not allowing himself to look weak, the image. Everything depends on his image of strength. (I thought about the internationally distributed photo op of a bare chested Putin on a horse.) I thought this was very interesting, as it relates to Trump. It explains a lot. While Kasparov was talking about Putin's blueprint of lying and making people believe that truth is relative, I thought of the book/movie "1984." There's a grueling scene where the Party "teaches" Winston to see that 2 plus 2 equals 5, if the Party says so. Or sometimes 3. https://tunein.com/podcasts/Political-News/Stay-Tuned-with-Preet-p1018528/?topicId=122812620 (If you want to listen to Kasparov yourself, he starts talking about Russia & Putin at about 20:55.)4 points

Greed ruined college football and strangled everything we loved about it. It had always been a regional sport focused on rivalries. The obsession with one true national champion has made the golden goose a fat disgusting blob vomiting it's detritus onto the viewing public. With the breakup of traditional rivalries there is 0 reason to watch a game if it has no national implications.3 points

Thanks. I think pit vipers are amazing predators. Got to respect them. I don't fault anyone for killing them when found around their house, especially if they have kids or pets. Yeah, I have been trying to do some different photography than I usually do. So that requires actively looking for subjects. They like to hide. Here is the asshole Cottonmouth close up.3 points

Geography having weight in the political process is truly part of the founding farthers genius. A federal system run soley out of the coasts is a incredibly bad idea.3 points

Thing is that our system is intentionally set up to be slow and deliberate. Harry Reid Blowing Up 60 Vote Threshold Moose out front should have told ya. Changing our political systems for the sake of political expediency will always have massive unintended consequences.3 points

Every society, religion, and sociologist considers the family unit to be of utmost importance. It's rare in human history to find a society that does not highly value the family. The Soviets and Nazis attempted to elevate the state above the family and probably a few other totalitarian regimes. Orwell, drove home this point in 1984. Historically we look back on those times and shake our heads in judgment. Here we are in a situation where the state is treating families in a highly unethical manner so much that its been condemned by religions across the board. Yet, some of our political leaders with the power to stop it, ignore it and a big part of the electorate turn a blind eye to it. Shameful.3 points
