No--I'm sorry; but you fuck off. This is an all-hands-on-deck emergency to save the Republic. It's Team Patriot v. Team Traitor. And I don't care if someone on my Team Patriot used to play for Team Trickle-Down any more than I care that he used to play for the Portland Sea Dogs. They're on my team now, and we need as many teammates as we can get. Now, maybe after we save the Republic, we can split back up into different teams and disagree about the finer points of public policy. But in order to adopt any of your preferred policies, we first need to save the Republic. Otherwise, none of your policies get adopted and you find yourself in a camp. So welcome aboard Team Patriot, @ChiTownDoc . It's getting to be a pretty good little team we've got here, even if we have some really shitty teammates who need to learn to shut their goddamned stupid fucking mouths every so often.15 points

Because I want to and Queen Elizabeth is awesome and she hates his orange ass. Plus, that little lady served her country in wartime when she could have used her status and privilege to hide away somewhere safe. That orange nutless coward lied about his fucked up feet and spent his generation’s wartime sleazing it up at Studio 54. She’s ten thousand times the leader he is. Fight me.15 points

So story for memorabilia dorks like me: Tristar came out with these hidden treasures signed baseballs. You don't know who it is, or if it is a WS ball or regular ball. All are authenticated. You could get full team, old players, prospects, etc. I bought 1 from a guy and have been waiting for about 3 weeks to receive it. In the meantime i bought 3 at the Tristar show a week ago and pulled Reddick WS ball Correa WS ball, and Giles on a shitty regular ball. Today my first one finally came in and I hit the jackpot:9 points

I'm 51 years old. Never a member of the Republican party, but voted straight ticket Republican most of my life until 2016 when I didn't like Trump or Hilary and voted Libertarian and mixed in mostly Dems and Libertarians down ballot. I will be voting straight ticket Dem for the foreseeable future, even though I'm not a big fan of that party. It's just that it's far better than what the Republicans have become. I'm very worried for my country.9 points

Thanks brother. I’m all in. I don’t get badteammate either. I grew up much poorer than his ass and likely have much darker skin. Acting like I’m some silver spoon motherfucker. I went from $35k to close to 8 figures annually in 7 years. All by myself with a 10k loan. I used to hop in the back of pickup trucks to go haul trash at construction sites for $10 an hour - cash baby. And I LOVED every minute of it. I knew this was the land of opportunity and mine was coming. Did it ever. When I die, 90% is committed to charity. So kindly fuck off stereotyping my ass.8 points

I couldn't disagree more, and I'm a lifelong lib. Trump is not a natural result of the conservative worldview. Trumps have sprung from leftist movements around the world as much as right. His movement isn't even about left vs. right as a political matter. And he is an existential threat to the Republic. Yes, Republicans are to blame for laying the groundwork for him and for selling their souls to him in exchange for tax cuts and Supreme Court justices. But that path they went down and continue to go down is not inherent to conservativism or the many good people who believed in traditional Republican viewpoints for good faith reasons. It's a wrong turn. And the viewpoints of those traditional Republicans who aren't going along for this ride are essential to restoring our country.7 points

Yes yes yes yes yes a thousand times yes! This is the most important thing. And it needs to be the most important thing, even for bad_teammate. Because without this, he's never going to get universal healthcare or a living wage or anything else. He'll get baby jails. He'll get even more police brutality. He'll get even more voter suppression. But let's go back to the first paragraph: You know--I think that needs to go along with grinding the Republican Party into the dust. And it is a necessary step. Of course, bad_teammate goes about it entirely the wrong way. But that shouldn't surprise. I've given my mea culpa on here before. I'm not particularly shy about it. I'm ashamed of the fact that I voted for and supported the Republican Party as long as I did. For the most part, it was ignorance. I didn't recognize the dog whistles. I legitimately thought that evangelicals were all about their (in my view very misguided and heretical) view of religion, and didn't realize that it was all a cover for racism. And along the way, I supported some policy choices that turned out to be bad in the light of later evidence (e.g., Iraq, trickle-down). And then there was something even stupider, of which I'm even more ashamed. I assumed there were racists in the Republican Party, but I didn't really care because, hey--they support tax cuts, too. I figured it was 5% of the party, based on my interactions with other Republicans. I never dreamed it was more than 50% (which it plainly was). But even if it was just 5%, it was morally wrong of me to be on the same side as them in any way for the sake of a few bucks. I'm acknowledged that before, but I'll acknowledge it again--mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. I'm deeply ashamed of that. One day, I'll have to explain that to my kids. Even worse, one day, I'll have to explain it to the Almighty. I expect that'll be a tough conversation. And so yeah--there is a reckoning that is a necessary requirement for the Republican Party to be ground into the dust.6 points

Count me in on Team Patriot also. And as I said, previously despite a life-long history of voting Republican, I've come around and that will no longer be a default. In fact, if I don't see some drastic changes my default will likely be towards the Dems for the foreseeable future. This is not a temporary, feel good move for me. I have seen the error of my ways.6 points

Tried to take some time off to work on my dissertation, but after yesterday and today, I can't. First off, I have both a bachelors and masters in Communication. Just the nonverbal alone was killing me yesterday, and just right now in this "statement." If you have to read from a script that you trust your intelligence agencies and you forgot a certain word, then right off the bat it's a fucking joke. The lack of eye contact didn't help. I just don't know how certain people are still supporting this dude. Wait, yes, yes, I do.6 points

I think that at this point there is a legit argument for removal via the 25th amendment. We do not appear to be dealing with dementia here as some have suggested in the past. What we are dealing with appears to be a profound and pervasive personality disorder. I am not sure at this point that Trump has any real agency to control his response or actions. His perception of reality is intimately tied to his psychopathology. He was upbeat and positive after the news conference because his perception of reality is that it came off splendidly. That is simply his reality. He is an elderly man with a pathologically severe mental condition, easily manipulated if you understand the fundamental wants and needs that drive his reality, and stroke the right chords. At this point, after the display yesterday, go ahead and roll out the 25th amendment. He is clearly impaired.6 points

It's funny that I've liked a lot of posts made by Brisket, Ghost of LL, AND BT the past couple pages. I think BT is right in a general sense that a bunch of the temporary R to D crossover voters will not actually take a critical look at how the Republican party got here now and that liberals can't count on them in the future. But the good ones will at least take a critical look at their priors, and hopefully enough will change their minds to swing the momentum on certain issues. More importantly for the time being though, is getting every single person that we can over to our side to get rid of Trump and the current iteration of the Republican party. Beating them by 5% in a few elections isn't going to cause them to go away. They need to be ground into fucking dust, and that dust then needs to be salted and buried under a mile of concrete. We need to embarrass them so thoroughly they'll be terrified of ever speaking their bullshit in public again. We need to chase them out of the public sphere and shame them so badly their children disown them. Being a MAGA dipshit should get you fired from a job just like a swastika tattoo will. To do that is going to take a shitload more people than just liberals. And hopefully while we're working together to annihilate the MAGA dipshits, some of the not awful conservatives will take the time to learn why charter schools are fucking trash.5 points

And, you're cordially invited to go fuck yourself with a rusty spoon. I didn't support him or the movement that built him. I've had a problem with the direction of the GOP for a LONG time (if you'd seen my posts over the past 10 years, you'd see that in action). I sure as shit sounded the alarm bells on Trump the minute he appeared as an actual candidate, and I was among the first to say he was going to win (ask GOLL -- I actually placed a bet on it pretty early in the race). Some of us have been fighting against this sort of bullshittery for a good while, we didn't just start yesterday. Sorry I don't have your full patchouli-scented credentials, but while y'all were twizzling your dicks contemplatively and settling on a candidate whose entire campaign was based on "fuck it, it's my turn and I have a vagina," some of us were suggesting that maybe running a real fucking candidate would be a good idea. If we want to go shitting on people to blame for this fucking debacle, a Democrat party with zero self-awareness but ALL the self-righteousness, and a bunch of clueless supporters in ironic hats and t-shirts, need to end up dripping with wet shit as well. OR -- and I'm just spitballing, I could feed you ammo while you pull the trigger and mow down Nazis, and then we can switch off, and then when the war's over we can get back to shitting all over each other. I think that makes some sense.5 points

Yeah--no. That's not how this works. See--for one thing, you need more teammates, because the team was too small to win the game. But for another thing, this isn't playground kickball. There aren't team captains who get to draft the team. And even if there were, nobody would name you a team captain. Because you're a fucking moron. And no good team wants a fucking moron as their captain (which is among the innumerable reasons why Team Traitor is such a shitty team, aside from being composed of, you know--traitors). As a voter, I get to decide which team I'm on. Now, I'm real sorry that my now being a Democrat--boy, it burns just typing that--means that there's an extra vote for candidates who are more centrist than that which you might otherwise favor. And I'm doubly sorry, but actually not really, that it probably means that some of those centrists will win the nomination. But guess what--them's the breaks in a first-past-the-post system that favors big-tent parties. And here's the real upside for us all: it probably means that some of those centrists will actually win, which will in turn mean that we--and yeah, we are all on the same team--are going to be able to regain power and send all the members of Team Traitor to the fucking gallows. So "bless me Father, for I have sinned . . . ." Except you don't grant political absolution, and I'm not asking for your fucking forgiveness. Stop looking gift-horses in the mouth, realize that we're on the same team for the time being, and shut your goddamned mouth. Because frankly, you're coming off as naught but a fucking Russian troll trying to instill division and discord.5 points

There is something to Rand Paul's comments--presidenting is hard work; it'll take a physical and mental toll. And for someone who was enfeebled to begin with, it can be fatal. So in a perverse way, I was heartened to see Trump's performance with a Russian leader. It was even worse than Yalta. And FDR was dead just two months after Yalta.5 points

Perhaps the most dominant DT I ever saw play. Blue chip and Parade All-American, he started all 4 years at Tech and was the first DT taken in the 83 NFL draft. Taken by the Steelers in the first round as the heir to Mean Joe Greene. To this day people still talk about him running down that RB for the then number one ranked U of Washington some 60 yards (or whatever it was) down the field. A rookie season October car wreck left him paralyzed and ended his NFL career after 6 games. Great is an over used word for athletes, but he truly was. I am now 180 degrees away from where I was in the past. We need to eliminate all electronic voting. All paper, with options for mail-in or in-person (with same-day registration). Remove everything we can from the hands of the techlords, because they are going to end our civlization.4 points

I rarely speak in absolutes, but anyone supporting Trump at this point is a stunted idiot or outright traitor. You cannot support him and love America, it's just impossible. Trump needs to go... and we will need to take a long look at how deeply the Russians have penetrated... crippling sanctions for Russia, the cold war is back on, but only one side knows it.4 points

Waiting? Republicans are shit. I've never said anything differently. The fact that some of you are very briefly tempted to not be complete monsters doesn't impress me. As soon as a politically palatable representative is put on the ticket, you and your lot will gleefully strip regulations, slash welfare spending, dramatically increase the military, double down on the back-the-blue police state, oppose universal healthcare, and basically oppose every progressive agenda item conceivable. Some of you expect high-fives for saying you'll vote for some Dems in 2018. I'm so proud of you guys for being so dense it took Donald Trump to get you to temporarily notice how inhuman your entire political worldview is. Pardon me if I don't go running towards Lucy as she holds the football.4 points

A small zoo in the Bryan / Collie Station area obtained a very rare species of gorilla. Within a few weeks the gorilla, a female, became very difficult to handle. Upon examination, the veterinarian determined the problem. The gorilla was in heat. To make matters worse, there was no male gorilla available. Thinking about their problem, the Zoo Keeper thought of Bobby Lee Walton, an aggy part-time worker responsible for cleaning the animal cages. Bobby Lee, like most aggy, had little sense but possessed ample ability to try and satisfy a female of any species. The Zoo Keeper thought they might have a solution. Bobby Lee was approached with a proposition. Would he be willing to mate with the gorilla for $500.00? Bobby Lee showed some interest but said he would have to think the matter over carefully. The following day, he announced that he would accept their offer, but only under five conditions: "First", Bobby Lee said, "I ain't gonna kiss her on the lips." The Keeper quickly agreed to this condition. "Second", he said, "She must wear a 'SEC SEC SEC Forever' T-Shirt ." The keeper again readily agreed to this condition. "Third", he said, "you can't never tell no one about this." The keeper again readily agreed to this condition. "Fourth", Bobby Lee said, "I want all the children to attend fish camp and go to aggyland for their numbers and schoolin'." Once again it was agreed. And last," Bobby Lee said, "I'm gonna need another week to come up with the $500.00.4 points

I can't believe anyone could even half-way compare the two, but let me hit some high points... Medvedev isn't an evil despot who was once a KGB agent. I'm not saying Medvedev was a "good guy", but he was a reformer and at least mildly friendly toward the west...aka why Putin seized complete control What Obama did was called diplomacy. You don't put your missiles in Kaliningrad, and we won't increase our missile defenses in Poland/Czech Rep. What Trump did was capitulation. What did the US get in return for Trump throwing us under the bus? A soccer ball? No one is saying we can't/shouldn't engage Russia in diplomacy. But we are saying you can't just roll over like a puppy looking for a belly rub.4 points

For some lighter news in “Donald Trump is a Fucking Walking, Talking Clown Show” - Apparently Queen Elizabeth subtly trolled the fuck out of him when they had their little tea party. She wore a brooch given to her as a personal gift from The Obamas. Not a gift from The United States government but from Barack and Michelle. She wore the same dress she wore to address Parliament after the Brexit vote. The Royal Press calls it her “I don’t care for this” dress. The dress in question was listed as “Democrat Blue” by her dressmaker.” The official palace photo was taken in the back hallway where she feeds her corgis. Note the dog bowl on a placemat by Dotard’s feet. I mean, just look at the difference in her face! I feel you, sister. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

I will not lie. If the NRA ultimately helps to bring down Trump and the GOP, it will be fucking hilarious to me. Funnier than 77-0. Funnier than Airplane or Blazing Saddles. Excuse me, if the GUN RIGHTS ORGANIZATION helps to bring down Trump and POLITICAL PARTY 1. Yeah, it will suck that the Russians did this. But if the asshats at the GRO bring down their own fan club, it will be hilarious.3 points
