Just so BigVegasHorn26 can go fuck his miserable self, sure. Orlando went and saw him in the spring evaluation period after a friend of the program gave them a heads up that the kid is a stud. One of those raw Florida guys that feeds the SEC, Clemson, Miami and FSU. In June, he measured 6’1” without shoes, weighed 218 and ran a 4.27 shuttle. He has a 76 inch wingspan. Those are no bullshit measurements from someone who was present. He likes and has liked Texas for a while. Texas has been working on him for months and they’ve built up to this moment with him. It’s not a “in the moment” scenario for a noob recruit. I realize that the $9.95-ers haven’t had this guy on the radar, so handwringers in the fan base can’t understand the commit and need EJ Holland or Geoff Ketchum to give them an update so they can know how to feel, but people who know what the fuck they’re doing within the program and near it think they’re stealing this guy.30 points

I punched a Trumpist last weekend. But it was all a misunderstanding. Somebody yelled “He’s a Trumpist!” but I thought they said “He plays trumpet!” Woodwinds 4 life, muthafucka.12 points

My grandfather was an antifa. He earned a purple heart for the cause as well. There were most assuredly not good people on both sides. There were good people on one side and genocidal maniacs among a population blinded by nationalism on the other.8 points

The ring was found on the shores of Normandy and she tracked down the grandson of the fallen aggy hero to return the ring. They then all went to the grave of the brave aggy who won the war for 'murica and buried it with him so it will be forever with him. When everyone was about to walk away, the grandson yelled 'Saw em off' or some shit because grandpa would have wanted it that way.6 points

I suspect you're a troll but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Everybody does opposition research. There's nothing illegal about it. The Clinton campaign hired a guy to do oppo research on Trump. As a former member of MI6, he was able to use his Russian contacts to get info on the Trump campaign's suspicious activity connected to people close to Putin. If there wasn't suspicious activity in the Trump campaign regarding Russia, that research wouldn't have happened. (Duh.) The point of opposition research is to get factual info (preferably factual dirt that you can use against them) on your opponent. Nobody uses oppo research to manufacture lies because they don't need to. You can manufacture lies in house. You don't need to farm that out. So the accusation that the Steele dossier can't be trusted because it was paid for by the Clinton campaign doesn't hold water. That's just a political game. The Trump campaign wanted to get factual dirt on Clinton but they went about it illegally. The Russians reached out to them, acknowledging that it was coming from the Russian government. That's illegal. They had been warned by the FBI that the Russians might try something and not only did they not report the Russians, they met with them! And lied and lied and lied about it. We don't know exactly what was discussed at that meeting. But it appears that the only thing the Russians might have offered them on Clinton were the hacked emails. Not only would it be a crime to accept anything from a foreign government, accepting hacked emails from anyone would be a crime. Hacking is a crime and those emails are criminal contraband. So, while both campaigns wanted factual dirt on their opponent that they could use in the campaign, one went about it legally, the other illegally. You'll note that no one in the Clinton campaign ever lied about hiring Christopher Steele to do oppo research. That's because it was perfectly legal and they had nothing to hide.6 points

Sometimes what's funny changes and sometimes it doesn't. Shakespeare is still funny. Oscar Wilde is still funny. George Carlin and Richard Pryor are still funny. But the millennials will not have a Carlin or Pryor of their generation. Nor will they have an Animal House, Airplane, Blazing Saddles, etc. The Huffington Post thought police and their own need to feel morally superior at all costs won't let them.5 points

Went to Beto hq this morning and took a “class” to become a deputy registrar. 1.5 hours to go over how to get people to fill out a form (who are us citizens and not felons on paper) and then take them in to the right office. Stupid, but not a big pain in the ass and I’m looking forward to registering the fuck out of anyone I can.4 points

A little R&D today. Ordered a case of beef cheek to mess around with. Gave this an adobo seasoning, smoked it, then braised it in beef stock to finish. It fell apart just like I wanted it to. So, beef cheek tacos.4 points

None of that is outlawed now. Watch Key and Peele's stuff. Have you never watched Always Sunny? Or Django Unchained? The envelope gets pushed way past what those old folks were doing. Comedy really doesnt give a fuck about PC these days. You're way out of touch.4 points

And the now constant misuse of "begs the question" which should be "raises the question." Begs the question has a specific, difficult to understand meaning that likely shouldn't be tossed away. But it will be because copy editing is a thing of the past. edit to add: I see Mole beat me to it.4 points

No, you're right and have always been. All of the government-supplied economic numbers are fake. The economy is as terrible as you always said it was under Obama, real unemployment is skyrocketing, and the debt is all that matters and is bigger than ever. New York is an economic and crime wasteland unde DeBlasio, just as you predicted. Seattle is in ruins, as is California. And let's not forget that the payday lenders have been slayed!4 points

I don't think she should, but the "whataboutism" can't be countered with anything other than an extreme point of view. The idea that anyone but a child would think that it's OK to commit a crime because someone (allegedly) committed that crime in the past is moronic, but that's texags for you. Assume she DID illegal oppo research, and so did Trump -- prosecute them both is the correct strategy, as opposed to looking the other way.3 points

I would hope that the city was smart enough to offer those incentives hoping to bring jobs to the area which provides employment hopefully to people that live in the area, not provide generous corporate incentives in the hope that it would be recouped on people’s lunch money. Tech companies commonly offer generous incentives to entice people to work there despite the high cost of living. Cafeteria is common as is free bussing from the suburbs etc. these kinds of incentives are important in companies keeping happy productive employees. I suppose the city should have anticipated and made no cafeteria a prerequisite to their tax incentives. I dont think decrying silly local regulatory decisions and decrying federalism are mutually exclusive either. It would be perfectly reasonable for city administrators to not try to pass a law telling them where to get their lunch. It’s not a situation where if the city didn’t do it, then the feds would have. What about just letting people decide where they want to get their lunch?3 points

Franken had to resign because a string of women credibly accused him of forcing kisses, fondling their asses, and other unwanted sexual conduct over an extended period of time: http://amp.timeinc.net/time/5042931/al-franken-accusers He resigned. Conyers resigned. The Dem party has drawn a line and it's a good one. Meanwhile, the Rs keep lowering their standards without suffering consequences from their supposedly religious base. That's frustrating to many Ds, but that doesn't make the Dem's course of action wrong.3 points
