  5. I like you Whitman, but you are demonstrably wrong. There are religious based schools that actually are legitimate Universities, such as Notre Dame, Baylor, SMU, TCU and BYU. Liberty is lightyears from that. They teach Creation Studies for fuck's sake. https://www.liberty.edu/news/index.cfm?PID=18495&MID=232650 Any institution trying to pass off this pseudoscientific bullshit is not a University. It is a scam to pass off religious education and steal student loan dollars that should go to legitimate Colleges and Universities.

  7. Who do you think you are talking to? If there’s one consistent idea in my entire economic corpus on these boards it’s that fiscal stimulus stimulates, and the question is not whether it does but whether it’s worth it. You pour a giant debt-financed tax stimulus onto an already expanding economy in a climate of already cheap money and you’ll have GDP expansion and some job growth because some of the cash you took when you smashed your kids piggy bank was used to buy stuff. The come down is where it counts. Very few people snort blow all night and enjoy the morning after.

  9. Exactly. We might not get a bunch of these guys, but we're going to come in 2nd, and that's pretty awesome in my book. Like we might not have the most gold medals, but we're leading the total medal count because of all the silvers and bronzes we have. It's pretty fucking cool.

  15. I did. I had just graduated from Yale and was on the run from my bookie. I managed to get to La Guardia and take my roommate’s place on the Peace Corps plane to Thailand. Had a good time with a chick named Beth. Met a dork named Tom Tuttle. Fought some drug traffickers and some commies. Not bad, overall.

  20. 1000X this. We are criticizing the decision to eat our winter store of grain now, all at once. Responding with “but look at this table stacked high with delicious bread!” misses the entire point. We’re criticizing taking economic steps that will cause pain tomorrow in exchange for short-term pleasure today. In short, we are arguing for the very definition of “conservative” policy. Slorch, of all people, should be on our side of this issue. But, when you sacrifice your brain at the altar of a party, you lose sight of all policy and ideology. Bozo and I and a jillion others are arguing that we should take a more conservative approach....and we’re labeled as libtards with sweet tears. Fucking world turned upside down.

  21. The corp tax cuts in an expanding (albeit tortoise-like) economy amount to a top fuel drag race. Potent mixture that gets you half a mile before the engine either shuts down or explodes.

  29. This one is personal for me as I worked for him when I was assigned to the DIA. I briefed him, his CSM, and their support staff on our report before it went to Congress in 2009. I dont care that he is working with Mueller and his team; he betrayed his oath to the Constitution and the men and women who served under him. What he did is unforgivable and I have nothing but contempt for him. If he were on fire, I wouldn't even piss on him to save his life.

  30. not a big deal to miss 6 to 8.5, but he didn't make a mistake in that direction, did he. He's a lying motherfucker and he needs to be called out 9 times a day for the 9 outright lies that he tells in public EVERY FUCKING DAY. Demand the fucking truth from the fucking POTUS whoever he or she is.

  31. Carter gets a bit of a shaft as President. He took the mantle with a country broken by Vietnam and Watergate. If the Commando raid to free the hostages had worked he'd have been a hero. That failure led Carter to establish our modern special forces and overhaul our military post Vietnam. The end product of those actions happened under Reagan.

  34. Higgins is a poor man's Bru McCoy. He could be a solid starting WR, but he'd probably be 1st All Big 12 if he'd play linebacker. Similar thing with the tweener WR/TE from Fort Worth that A&M was looking at earlier. I think there's plenty of LB talent in state, but it doesn't want to play LB.

  36. I also used to believe that climate change was a bunch of bull$#@!; that there was some sort of conspiracy to deprive Americans of their constitutional rights to private property via the scare tactics and fear-mongering of global warming/climate change. Then I went back to school, took a course in Chem 101, Physics 101, 102, and had instructors throughout the sciences and maths who contributed to the body of climate change research (including a a Calc IV/Diff EQ instructor with a masters in meteorology who flew into Rita ... of all people). To anyone who is on the fence on climate change or perhaps with an affinity for the truth, I urge them to set aside the politics and supernatural religious woo-woo long enough to learn the science themselves. Don't listen to the politicians, pundits, or liberal arts column writers/bloggers who don't have the expertise in science to render an expert opinion. For me, I learned that the science itself is settled ... as settled as anything ever is in science, and that the waters have been muddied by $$$, politics, and useful idiots who are ignorant of science. 97% of the peer-reviewed papers of scientists qualified to have a non-ignorant opinion (via education) agree that climate change is very real and is indeed anthropogenic. The politics of what to do about it is a whole other matter. But the rampant denialism ... that $#@! has got to go. I urge that conservatives cease the anti-science crusade, accept reality, and to start working on solutions that aren't steeped in collectivism and aren't a rejection of individual rights to ownership and liberty.
