Go fuck yourself, there is not a single person on this board that thinks you are a Democrat. You're another fucking troll and this latest batch is really obvious. Just because we don't call you out all the time doesn't mean we don't notice. Get better, or go to Texags with your hive mind friends.20 points

Is Trump courting the pro asbestos vote? About 40% of American voters didn't even know they were pro asbestos until today. I have zero doubt that an entire arena would still wildly cheer when Trump says "And we're bringing asbestos back, that I can tell you. That's right. Back. Bringing asbestos back in a big way. And polio!"13 points

Preach it brother. I don't understand how these keyboard jockeys can sit here and criticize the coaches when they don't even know what is going on behind the scenes. Let the coaches do their jobs, they know what they are doing or otherwise they wouldn't be here. Everyone needs to just calm down and trust the coaches.11 points

Oh for fuck's sake. Was your goal to absolutely, once and for all, confirm that you're a complete fucking retard who nobody should listen to? Please, go off on a Vince Foster rant to seal the deal, as if anyone else was still reading your drooling moronity.8 points

Substance: there is no "side" that does this. There is only one major news outlet (Buzzword alert: MSM) that has built its brand on opinion news and falsehoods. That is Fox News. Now Trump and Co will point to every little mistake a media outlet makes and point to it to say, "Look! They do it too! It's ok because both sides do it!". Not only is this disingenuous, it is right out of Russia's playbook for normalizing corruption and other bad acts. The difference being, other media outlets do not make mistakes out of strategy but out of a need of getting information out first for the profitability factors. They also make sure to do the right thing and publish corrections. Fox does it to force agendas by skewing the perspective of their viewers. Major difference in intent. But you knew that.8 points

Here's my story on De'Gabriel Floyd's "Austin Family." Enjoy. https://texas.thefootballbrainiacs.com/2018/08/meet-degabriel-floyds-austin-family/8 points

It's looking more and more like Texas is going to start 18 upperclassmen in its 22 starter lineup. On top of that, there are some upperclassmen who can play backing them up. McCullough, Bonney, Watson, Burt, Heard, Buechele, and Wilbon are guys in the two deep with significant starter and/or playing minutes heading into this season. For the first time since 2009, we cannot call Texas "young", and that's a good thing. I also recognize that there simply isn't much hype around this team either. In many of our fantasies heading into a season after the PTSD of 2010-2017, this is what we dreamed of, yet there's remarkably little discussion about these benefits ... anywhere, really. It's interesting to witness, and on some subconscious level, I understand it too.7 points

Right wingers bemoan FAKE NEWS, the cheer is lead by the President. Actual fake news is blocked by Facebook and YouTube, and all the sudden they are PRO fake news. Baker doesn’t want to sell a cake to gays. Right wing, that’s their choice, it’s a private business! YouTube doesn’t want to let Alex Jones on their site, right wingers, this is bullshit!7 points

Dude, you don't like Tito's? I'm sad to say I've drank plenty of vodka from all over the world, and Tito's is about as good as it gets. This isn't brown water, where the gap is massive between okay and greatness. For vodka, there's rot gut and then whatever smoothness you can find without a hangover up to $40/handle. If you're spending more than that you're lighting it on fire and less than $20 is guaranteeing pain. Tito's sits firmly in the "fine, smooth, limited pain in some moderation" arena, which should work for any of us. What thread were we on again?7 points

First they came for Alex Jones and I said nothing. Then they came for the globalist elites who have baby eating parties in the basement of Area 54 where they dip them in fluoride water like it's an Au Jus sauce and the Jews who train tornadoes to attack conservatives and the Illuminati who owns Luby's where they serve demon feces to the unknowing and I said nothing because nobody could hear me over the cacophony of the pointless mating chirps of all the gay frogs.6 points

It's because Smails is an idiot. The match was all-square going to 18. Everyone gets on the green on the same shot. Beeper and Webb both two putt, but Smails makes his 1 putt. That puts the pressure on Danny to make his and halve the hole. Note what Webb says to Danny: "You've got this one. You miss it, we lose." Not, if you make it we win. Thus, that putt was miss = lose, make = TIE. But then it all changes: "Hey, Judge! Double or nothing he makes it!" And with that it changes the whole thing. It's no longer about the match, he's changing the bet to be about the putt, thus it's now miss = lose, make = WIN. Smails is stupid to take the bet, even for more money, because it goes from win/tie to win/lose.6 points

Sorry to hear about the losses, but happy to hear about the new additions. Gabi has been referring to our dogs as her “dragons” lately. They protect from the witch that wants to turn her into a frog. Papai doesn’t know how to do hair, but I kind of like the wild stylings.6 points

How about Axis Stroganoff? Backstrap and a tenderloin Trimmed and browning Not shown is 3 types of mushrooms, 2 shallots, lots of garlic and butter, sour cream, condensed cream of mushroom soup (kind of a cheat) and some heavy cream. Only problem is that I let it simmer too long while futzing with kid food issues so it ended up less tender than I would have preferred. Still ate like a mofo tho6 points

— So why did things change so drastically with Leal, Williams, Richardson and Wright. Each recruitment is different, but I think it's safe to sayTexas finished second in all those recruitments. Fucking EJ is stealing my bit.5 points

I got people at my house making calls for Beto tonight. You might have talked to me or Macallan12, yo. Srsly please bear with us if you get multiple calls. We're working off a list of publicly available voters and obviously there are some duplicates, etc. Part of what we're doing now is trying to scrub the lists and get everything consolidated. If you get multiple calls please let the callers know and we'll try to fix it. Yeah there are a lot of youngsters working for Beto. If we can survive this current shit we just might be in good hands. On Edit - we're doing a lot more of these phone banks so if you're in Austin (NW) and interested, holla and we'll fix you up. It's a really interesting experience.5 points

And you really have to look deeper than a superficial understanding to know when it's appropriate to provide something as a social service and when it's appropriate to leave things to private enterprise. One obvious example where the USA differs from the rest of the world: The USA has been very successful, for example, in not socializing airlines and airplane production. Four of the top five airlines in the world are US-based carriers. Profit motive has led to expansion and reasonably low ticket prices. And Boeing is by far the finest passenger airplane manufacturer. The EU had to form a coalition to produce anything to compete with what Boeing does as a private company. In short, leaving the industry in private hands has been very good for the USA, and in certain aspects of it that ARE run by the government -- e.g. the TSA -- you find some genuinely horrifying things that make you think, "That whole agency should be abolished." One American exception going the other way -- it's getting more and more difficult to argue with a straight face that health insurance should remain privatized. The only way health insurance companies make money is by not providing healthcare services to their insured, so the profit motive provides a perverse incentive that leads to less-healthy Americans, which is huge a National Security risk. It also costs more: Americans pay more in health insurance premiums than we would in taxes to provide the same levels of health care under a single-payer system, and they receive a worse level of service. The government provides better economies of scale than any private company would, it is -- as long as our democracy lasts -- answerable to the public, and there is no incentive for the government to refuse to provide healthcare services so that they can meet their quarterly earnings estimates. So, here's two things I believe, one of them is extremely pro-capitalism, one is extremely pro-socialism, but based on a principle of "what is best for America" rather than "what does my tribe require," because as a Longhorn, all that's required of me is to know things like the words to "The Eyes of Texas", to wear burnt orange and believe it to be the most beautiful color in the world, and to wonder what the fuck is wrong with those weirdos over in College Station.5 points

Giles ability to coach-up talent has been severely overblown on this board by those trying to defend his recruiting. IMO our DL improvement last season was largely due to talent gaining experience and scheme. Giles is an above average developer of talent but at Texas we should be able to hire a DL coach who excels in both areas I don't understand this idea that we should hire a special DL recruiting coach to cover up Giles' shortcomings, we should be maximizing all of our available resources.5 points

I'm volunteering with a friend to do some phone calls and door knocking on Beto's behalf. Never thought I'd be involved in any political activism beyond some small donations. Actually, my default setting is cynically apolitical. But the Republican Party as currently constituted needs to be burned to the ground. And there's no better place to start than Rafael Cruz.5 points

Just seeing this thread and find it relevant to my interests. I started messing around with beef cheek a week or so back. Trimmed out all the silverskin, seasoned it with adobo, put it on the smoker until it probed pretty tender, then put it in a foil pan, covered about halfway with beef stock and some minced garlic, foiled it, and put it back in the smoker until it was so tender it easily shredded. Ay walla, beef cheek street tacos. Doing these again tomorrow for taco tuesday.5 points

Here's my defense strategy if I'm a former associate of Paul Manafort: It all started when Paul asked me if I'd bang his wife. I did. I banged her. Paul watched from the corner while eating a bowl of pistachios. Kinda weird but whatever, ya know? So anyway, the next thing I know I'm laundering all of this Russian money. "What the heck?," I said. So then I said I didn't want to launder money anymore. Then these two large guys in black and white Adidas track suits and aviator shades parked in front of my house and smoked cigarettes for three days straight. I got the message -- got right back to laundering and I mean right fast. Then some other weird shit happened. Not as weird as Paul and that bowl of pistachios, but still weird. And now here I am. I regret all of it. Really, I'm sorry. I used to like pistachios.4 points

It's hard to say because he usually introduces himself and then introduces three other people who aren't even there and says "it's good to meet you" each time he mentions the other names. Then Sheeeit interrupts the person talking by answering a question he himself just asked. People get fatigued and creeped out when they shake hands with a guy who they just met four times in a row. Then they feel bad for being annoyed by someone with schizophrenia and they eventually completely forget who they just met. Most people just remember saying "see you guys later" as he walks away alone.4 points

Multiple data points from various conversations have me believing that Herman is well aware of where things sit. The Maryland game was a splash of ice cold water with a butterfly effect. Mehringer and Warehime supposedly looked around and found no interest in the offseason. I am not a journalist and I cannot verify that with statements from witnesses. But that's the scuttlebutt out there. Those two didn't do that because they were leveraging big performances. They were asked. That didn't pan out, which is an obvious indictment to anyone looking, including Herman. Herman then took steps to mitigate both of their impacts on the program while still being employed. Herman did exactly what Charlie Strong did walking through the doors at Belmont - he underestimated the size and scope of his task and the organization he'd be leading. Unlike Strong, Herman has a strong administrative side to him coupled with deep insecurities about being perceived as a junior-level fool, so he can, in part, organize his way out of the fuck up and likely has his hair on fire to do so. If he's aware of the dead weight on staff, and I think he is, then he knows he HAS to upgrade to meet the requirements of this job. If Texas wins this year, I don't think it will be carnage on the staff via terminations. I think it will wind up being a case of those guys getting hired at Directional U for perceived promotions. This isn't UH. Herman was at UT and Ohio State before, sure, but there is a difference when it comes to being the guy in the chair. Until you have had the buck stop with you with a $100million+ org and a public spotlight on said org, it's hard to truly appreciate what it all means. It is a lonely fucking place, even when people are honestly around you to help (shit, it's lonely on some level being the guy at tiny orgs even when things are going well.) When some of those people around you aren't really there to help, or they're incapable of helping because you've peter principled them, you have to cut ties in some form or you risk losing it all and bringing everyone down with you. Some guys cut out weakness ruthlessly, and other guys try to find soft landings. You can look at Saban and Meyer as two different guys when it comes to this, and sometimes the sad ramifications for acting like the latter and letting loyalty go too far. I'm on the side of "fire Urban, he lied and covered up for a wifebeater, fuck them both", but I do get the sentiment behind his ill-fated actions. I think Herman is more like Meyer here, as evidenced by behaviors with his bros so far, but he's capable of developing into the former if he feels like he's getting torched on this here.4 points

That's because they're all in on the hegemonic masculinity train. When they can act "like men used to" - be the alpha, treat women like garbage, be the boss and make the rules. We've done a terrible job, period, of educating and raising young men of all colors in our society. They're either virulently racist and full of toxic masculinity, in gangs or prison, or antisocial video game weirdos and end up shooting up schools.4 points
