Not really. In most cases, it seems that those with the "tax churches" viewpoint are all for keeping the church out of the government but not the other way around. It's not a matter of principle but hostility to religion; that's implicit in the call to tax churches rather than all non-profits, for instance. The Supreme Court has held that tax exemption is not only constitutional, but it reinforces the desired separation of church and state, where taxing churches would break that down (Walz v. Tax Commission). Taxing churches creates a relationship - the government has to assign value to what is taxed, and now the church is paying to support the government. Neither of those things is good. The wall either works both ways or not at all.6 points

I should introduce you to Dan Patrick and Ken Paxton. They're a hoot. And -- again, relatively speaking -- I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE POLITICAL TIDES IN SHITBAGISTAN. Islamofascists aren't marching in my streets chanting blood and soil. They don't have the ear and sympathy of the POTUS and Stephen Miller and Sebastian Gorka. They haven't created kiddie jails for brown people in my state. Nazis and their fucking sympathizers are doing that. Fuck islamofascist hypotheticals -- I'll be in favor of fighting the ACTUAL nazis and their sympathizers who are ACTUALLY in power in my country, right now.6 points

So they should just nominate corporatist white male boring centrists with no principles or ideas? Yay, America. How do you know that the trans, immigrant or LGBT person isn't the most qualified? We could do with some new ideas and new voices in Congress. People hate Congress. Why should they then just nominate the same people who go there and do nothing? A reminder - they didn't just pick "a" woman to be President, but a former Senator, First Lady and Secretary of State. They didn't just grab some dumb cunt out of Alaska and declare her qualified.6 points

Ojo Rojo, I hear what you're saying, but I've been down the path you're going down and it doesn't end well. First, you "incorrectly answer" your wife's questions about whether or not you were out with that whore from the office. Then, when she provides evidence confirming your accidental incorrect answer, you point out that it wasn't exactly a lie, because you weren't prepared to answer the question, so it wasn't a fair to expect an honest answer. Finally, you reassure her that, no matter what may or may not have happened with that whore from the office, you didn't have INTENT for it to happen, so it can't be used against you. I also thought that these sound and rational arguments would calm her rage and level heads would prevail. I guess some angry mobs, and wives, just can't be reasoned with.6 points

I love the fact that Herman is letting Bonney go. No true Longhorn would ever want to grad transfer to OU. Agree that if Bonney is the difference in a loss to Tech, the ship has run aground. He is a young man who has exactly one chance to play another year of college ball, and we don’t appear to have a place for him. This was the right thing to do, and it will come back to us.6 points

This paper is a perfect example of why some people question the hyperbole around climate change. I do not question the actual science as I am sure that increased CO2 levels in the atmosphere have some influence on warming. I think the actual influence is way, way overstated and I think the negative ramifications of an incrementally warming planet are way, way overstated. It is doubtful people will ever agree on those points but, ultimately, time will tell. However, this paper is just full of shit under even basic scrutiny and serves as an example of why people tend to dismiss the entire issue. Here is a direct section of the paper where they lay out the supposed dire effects of climate change: One by one: California fires- No evidence at all that these are the product of climate change. Ca has had fires forever and these current fires and their scope were predicted years ago and Ca was warned of what would happen if thinning and brush removal were ignored. https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckdevore/2018/07/30/californias-devastating-fires-are-man-caused-but-not-in-the-way-they-tell-us/#314f7ff70af9 Wheat/Corn- Typical cherry picked data regarding Sweden. First, just last year Sweden set an all time record for grain production. http://www.world-grain.com/Departments/Country-Focus/Country-Focus-Home/Focus-on-Sweden.aspx?cck=1 The issue with wheat in Sweden this summer is tied to actually too much rain last fall which prevented the winter wheat from fully developing. Hardly an act of warming. Further, globally wheat and corn are at historic highs. Droughts happen ever year somewhere in the world. The Oklahoma dust bowl and droughts was n the 1930s. Rivers too hot for Nuclear- This one is just too good. It is completely misleading and just plain wrong. First, the temp of the rivers used to cool the reactors was never changed or too high as the article states. There was a fear that the water RELEASED from the reactors would make rivers too hot and that it might have an affect on fish life. It was really just 1 old reactor in France (not anywhere else in Europe as the article suggested) and it was shut down for a whopping 1 afternoon. Not mentioned in the article was that the same thing happened in 2003 and that the temps in France are still below the temps recorded in the 1940s there. Totally bogus claim. Electric grids crashing in 4 continents- I searched every combination I could think of from 2018 and can not find 1 single case of an electric grid crashing due to excessive heat anywhere. Japan heat Deaths- Obviously any deaths are tragic, but this is about climate change effects. 138 people died of heat related issues in japan this year. Comparatively, over 900 died due to heat waves in 2007. Further, the current average high temps in japan are still not as high as those recorded in 1868. I am certain recordings are much more accurate now than in 1868 but, somehow, the temp in japan got just as hot in 1868 as it is now and that was way before the industrial revolution. So, to recap, every single thing that the article claimed as alarming effects of climate change was just bullshit. It is the problem with the issue. The facts do no stand on their own so people resort to lying and exaggerating and cherry picking to try and prove their point. For the sane folks, that is just a sign that their underlying premises are bad.6 points

Wife is in downtown Denver with a friend and they decide to rent a car and instead of getting it from somewhere in town they get it from the airport. They take an Uber and after they get there her friend realizes she doesn't have her purse so they can't rent it. Not sure why my wife didn't rent it, I didn't ask. So they have to uber back downtown and then back to the airport. $120 in Uber to rent a car for $40 for two days.5 points

Jesus. Ohio State really is a fucking dumpster fire across the board. From their heart-attack faking, murderer-coddling, wife-beater welcoming head football coach, to their diabeetus-inflicted, Midwest trash fan-base, to their sexual assaulting team doctor, to their blind-eye turning Athletic Department. Just a heaping pile of steaming shit from the top down. .5 points

Right before the election, Rs were happily claiming that the NY office of the FBI was "Trumpland" and that agents would be leaking shit on Hillary to Giuliani and even pals at NYPD if Comey didn't recommend charges. We discussed it extensively on the Shag at the time. I don't recall a single R saying "if true, those agents should be fired." Just the opposite — they were all hoping it would happen, and then happily credited the threat of leaks from Trump-supporting FBI agents with forcing Comey to go public the last week with the reopened investigation that probably flipped the election. Strzok acted improperly and was rightfully removed from the investigation, and should have had some punishment well short of firing. Everything beyond that is more political bullshit from the hypocritical right.5 points

Poor Urban. Urban the Sacrificial. Urban the loving subordinate employee. Urban the Victim. Right. Urban Meyer is under fire and in danger of losing his job in part because he's a fucking liar. More importantly, however, is the fact that he's under fire and in danger of losing his job because he's led a cover-up and enabled the continued abuse of a victim by a buddy and employee on his staff. He might actually keep his job if he's able to get away with all of the equivocating and obfuscating he and his camp have been a part of since the news broke, not in a dissimilar fashion the equivocating and obfuscating you've twisted yourself into knots performing over the past 3 pages of this thread. I'm going to go through and neg as many of your posts as I can. I want to be clear with the facts before you bend them in some other manner, though. I'm going to go and do that in the hopes that enough other people also do it and that it winds up leading to you being banned. It's not because I disagree with your "opinion". It's because it looks as though you're one of the many mouthbreathers who are choosing to do what's convenient and aligned with your personal needs and wants, rather than finding and living by the courage of your convictions. Rape apologists. Pedophilia apologists. Wife-beater apologists. You fucking people are all the same and you're all pathetic.5 points

Look fucknuts, I am sorry you got duped into buying his books. No one hates the folks that go to his “church”. We may feel sorry for them that they buy his bullshit he is peddling, but we don’t hate them. We don’t like that charlatan for many reasons, most recently for him not wanting the folks that truly needed help, hope and a dry place to sleep until he was publicly shamed into doing so. Now this asshat has the ego to accept an award for helping them when he never wanted to in the first place. Are you able to understand that, or does the water on your brain prevent even that simple idea. Take your bullshit somewhere else.4 points

I've got some friends in LT who are pretty plugged in to the Wilson recruitment (not Longhorn94 bullshit) and here's what they are telling me: - Wilson still fully supports Meyer and OSU, he knew about the domestic violence and Meyer turning a blind eye to it before he committed. In fact, it was one of the main reasons he committed. He just fucking loves domestic violence. It's like in the NCAA football games how you can pick what pitch to give to a recruit, if you picked domestic violence, you would get Wilson's commit 100% of the time. Meyer knew this and really played up that angle. It's why he's one of the best in the game. - However, Herman is not going to just give up on Wilson. He's just biding his time until he drops his ace in the hole: Casey Horny. Herman knows if Wilson likes domestic violence, he's going to love the guy involved in a systemic program put in place at a university to cover up widespread, violent sexual assaults. Once the season is over, Herman is going to promote Horny to a coach like he did with Carrington last year. Horny's only job is going to be recruiting Wilson and Herman is confident that he can get him to flip. - One dark horse to watch in Wilson's recruitment: Michigan State.4 points
