It's the new SEC aggy strategy: only utilize really slow players on defense.12 points

Devin Duvernay is a luxury player that well functioning offenses use to rip the top off of a defense. When the DBs and LBs are going every which way to help cover running lanes and the mid/shallow routes, a player like Devin uses the extra time afforded to the QB to race by the entire secondary for a wide open bomb. Needless to say, none of that described Texas last season. Upfront blocking = running lanes = slower defensive rush = better pass protection = time for routes to develop = more Duvernay touches. For all the chicanery and window dressing, you still have to block an inside dive to win at football.10 points

If aggy made the decision, then I am extremely confident it was the wrong one.10 points

Here's where your second quote about Obama is relevant to Warren. Anyone who gives a damn about the nickname Pocahontas is a segment of the vote that can't be captured. You seriously can't believe that anyone other than these alt right loons that aren't getting off the Trump train now or ever care about that. As for age, as I've said previously, she's younger than Trump. Unlike the president, shes not morbidly obese and in bad health. Unlike Trump, she is sharp and doesn't come off as someone who might be suffering from dementia. I just don't buy that anyone would say, "I was going to vote for Elizabeth Warren, but shes just too old! Guess I'll just vote for the president who's even older, much fatter, and a man, which means he statistically should die earlier than a woman."10 points

Obtained a copy of CDC's letter to aggie. I think the PS is why they declined.9 points

It's always amazed me when we see guys like Duvernay, Daje Johnson, or DJ Monroe go almost completely unused because they fail to fit the nuanced expectations of what their position coaches or OCs have in line for their position, versus coaches finding a way to leverage their unique and competitively advantaged strengths. Ricky Williams fumbled a lot and couldn't pick up the blitz as an underclassman. Somehow, Mackovic, for all of his flaws, ended up getting him on the field anyways. As a fullback as a freshman, sure, but in that offense he got the ball. He would have ridden the fucking pine last year in Beck's offense. He'd have sat the fucking bench behind Kyle fucking Porter. We haven't had straight line speed of Duvernay's caliber in years. We literally watched him be properly utilized in 2016 to the tune of big gains with promise for the future. And yet here we are, listening to some of you dildos talk about last season's performance as though he had much control. Any offensive mind worth a shit would be jacking off to the concept of being able to use Duvernay's speed in their gameplan. Defending anything otherwise is shocking folly to witness.8 points

Talked to my people in LT, the Meyer suspension is huge news. Wilson is now even more firmly committed to OSU. Not because Meyer will be there to coach him, but because he believes the only thing cooler than ignoring repeated incidents of domestic violence is getting off with basically no repercussions. Crimes are cool but getting away with crimes is the coolest. Once again, Meyer shows why he's one of the best in the biz. Although I did talk to another LT source and they said watch out for Maryland if they keep Durkin around because "hey, you want to see a dead body?" is a pretty awesome recruiting pitch.8 points

My dad is just kind of frustratingly annoying -- he seems to lack all intuition and need to be walked through Facebook and stuff, and as soon as you tell him anything, it goes right out the other ear. It was my grandfather who took the cake. The last decade or so before he died, he was way into two things: genealogy, and porn. And one time he was trying to link some family info on to some old lady's family tree message board and the inevitable occurred: he posted a porn link instead. I think he got the banhammer...And my grandmother found out about it but just sort of gritted her teeth and ignored it -- she came from a generation where that was just what men did. He acted repentant in front of her but secretly thought it was funny. The old ladies on the family site did not. At any rate, I am proud of him for not going to the "I was hacked" card most olds try to play.7 points

If Trump shot Michael Cohen in broad daylight, here's what Republicans would say https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/aug/23/trump-michael-cohen-broad-daylight The New York Times: Breaking news: in an eerie echo of Donald Trump’s infamous campaign trail remark – “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters” – many witnesses report, and CCTV footage obtained by the Times confirms, that early this morning the president drew a handgun on his former lawyer Michael Cohen and shot him dead on a street in midtown Manhattan. House speaker Paul Ryan: “If these reports are true – I emphasize IF – then yes, I’m very concerned. I don’t think the president should be killing people in broad daylight in front of Tiffany’s. But I’m not a legal expert, I could be wrong.” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders: Associated Press: “Ms Sanders, did the president shoot his former lawyer in an effort to stop him from testifying against the president?” Sarah Sanders: “No, he did not.” AP: “Are you saying that the shooting was not motivated by Mr Cohen’s recent plea deal, or rather that the president did not shoot him?” SHS: “You’ve got my answer, Jim. No, no, no.” AP: “Ms Sanders, I’m still not clear what –” SHS: “The answer is no. No as in no. N. O. It’s these kinds of questions that have turned the American people against the press.” CNN: Anderson Cooper: “We’re seeing incredible images here. The president being taken into custody. Kellyanne, what can you tell us?” Kellyanne Conway: “I’m not going to comment on rumors, Anderson.” AC: “Kellyanne, these are not rumors. The president has handcuffs around his wrists. You’re seeing the same footage we are.” KC: “You’re free to see things your way. I have an alternative perception.” AC: “But how can you possibly –” KC: “Let’s agree to disagree, Anderson!” Senator Mitch McConnell: “People die every day in this country. I’m not going to let myself get sidetracked by these distractions.” Tweet from @realDonaldTrump: “Back from GREAT chat with members of NYPD--the finest! Brand new police station. Very NICE. They want a wall too. Was NEVER taken into custody. FAKE NEWS cooked up by Crooked Hillary and FAILING NYT and CONFLICTED Mueller! Keep our borders strong – JUST SAY NO to murdering and raping Mexicans.” Rudy Giuliani, president’s attorney: “Let’s get our facts straight. The president was never taken into custody except for maybe around six hours. He has not been charged with murder and won’t be charged with murder because murder isn’t always murder. The constitution is very clear on this: charging the president with a crime is a crime.” White House press briefing points: “First of all, the president was not in Manhattan at the time of the shooting. Second, he was watching TV on the 26th floor of Trump Tower when the shots were fired. Third, while he didn’t have the opportunity to save the students at the Parkland school, this time the president was able to rush into a busy city street and thereby save dozens of lives from a distraught and possibly deranged lawyer.” Words on Target umbrella held by Melania Trump, first lady: “I really do care.”™ Homeland security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen: “At this moment I can confirm that one of the alleged eyewitnesses to the shooting is a tourist from Mexico. Certainly we need to ask what a tourist from Mexico was doing in front of Tiffany’s at the time of this alleged incident. Now can I please eat my taco in peace?” Alex Jones, Infowars: “What I want to know is why hasn’t anyone mentioned that Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton were NOWHERE to be seen at the time of the shooting? Are you telling me that’s mere coincidence? C’mon! And why haven’t the NYPD and the DEEP STATE FBI looked into this? What else aren’t they looking into?” Sean Hannity: “What about the thousands of bills that Chuck Schumer has killed? What about Hillary’s murder of Vince Foster? And the Democrats dare talk about justice?” Paul Ryan: “I never said the president couldn’t kill in broad daylight. I just said I hope the president stays focused on all the great things we’re doing for the American people.” Tweet from @realDonaldTrump: “Michael Cohen said he would take a bullet for me. So NO MURDER! And NO COLLUSION!! WITCH HUNTS! Worse than SALEM!!! Never should have let CRIMINAL Comey (lousy writer to! book sales DOWN!) talk me out of executing KILLIN’ Hillary…” Tweet from @realDonaldTrump: “…and JIHAD Brennan and LEPRECHAUN Sessions. FAKE NEWS hates Trump because I built a Beautiful Wall. And brought PEACE to England! Now I’m PARDONING myself for NO CRIME! Also pardoning…” Tweet from @realDonaldTrump: “…extended family, all former campaign managers, present and future cabinet members. MAGA! #DraintheSwamp”7 points

I didn't grow up in Texas. As a Mizzou fan, I hated Oklahoma, so by the time I arrived at UT it was easy to continue to hate them. A&M was at first an oddity, but it didn't take long for me to understand that rivalry as well. I would absolutely HATE it if we ever killed the OU game. A&M? Eh. It all comes down to the fans for me. Basically, Aggies are so fucking weird that they make going to the game a completely uncomfortable experience. They also have no history of excellence. OU fans? Sure, they're more inbred, but they know what they are and own it, AND their program is historically one of the blueboods (as well as the beneficiary of rampant cheating). A&M fans don't know their place but think they do, which in their minds is in the same rare air occupied by UT, OU, USC, ND, etc. It's a completely different pathology, and one I find very easy to leave behind. tl;dr fuck A&M6 points

There's a lot of focus on Urban Meyer, but Gene Smith's comments in the press conference are equally bad. "I would like to thank....I would like to thank....I would like to thank... "I'm sorry to Buckeye Nation..." "The greatest pain that I have is for the people that I serve every day....Buckeye Nation...it's been painful, it's been hard...very difficult for me...it's been hard." First of all, opening with the list of thanking people is what you do when you've won an award or honor. This is not that. Second of all, he repeatedly apologizes to Buckeye Nation but never once acknowledges the actual victim. There was a true victim here, Gene, and it isn't Buckeye Nation. Finally, I don't think he understands what pain is. He is using pain to describe his embarrassment for his athletics department being morally bankrupt. True pain is what Courtney Smith felt when Zach Smith beat her and choked her up against a wall. This is just disgusting all around.5 points

Great look. He knows they'll say no, so they look weak. Still can't believe they're comfortable riding into the sunset with HerpDerp running wild over them as their last memory of the rivalry.5 points

I think that it's pretty remarkable that that: 1. The investigation found that Urban immediately asked someone for help in wiping his phone after the first McMurphy report. 2. The investigation intimated that it didn't believe Meyer's contention that he never talked to his wife about the texts she had received. 3. The investigation found that Meyer did not tell Gene Smith about the 2009 incident when he notified him of the 2015 incident. 4. The investigation found that Meyer lied when he told them that he met with Zach and Courtney after the 2009 incident. (They had to; Zach told them that he didn't.) Yet, the press conference basically opened with the Trustees saying:5 points

Just so I'm clear: Urban retained a coach who he had knowledge beat his wife on multiple occasions, violated a restraining order, ran up hundreds of dollars at strip clubs, had sex with his assistant, had sex toys sent to his office, took bj pics at the white house on his work phone on a team trip, and God only knows what else... Meanwhile, Texas fired the worst performing coach in school history, and the word "cesspool" has only been used to describe the latter situation. Am I missing anything here, Kirk?4 points
