Whoever this anonymous is, is describing a coup d'etat. These so called "adults in the room" are ruling the people without a mandate from us at all. This is fucked up and more dangerous than Trump. What is their agenda? What if this is just cover to do more despicable things like separating families at the border and blaming it on Trump? He is their patsy for whatever policy they wish to pursue and they can blame it on him if it is extreme shit that will make the majority of us howl. If these fuckers are going to prop him up so they can continue to pursue their agenda, then they are a shadow government and this is bullshit. The right thing to do is resign en mass to call attention to his unfitness and either send proof and information to the justice department to help impeach him or do whatever to get the 25th amendment process started. Fuck these "adults in the room"!21 points

We need to replace our kitchen faucet set and can't find a direct replacement. We have a girl who is an interior designer/decorator that's worked on the house before, so I told my wife to get her to look at it and come up with a replacement that would look appropriate and fit in the space. (My fucking fault here) I came home last week to the same faucet........and 4 pages of sketches converting our bedroom/bath and an adjacent guest room/bath into one master suite with sitting room, shoe closet, makeup counter...all that bullshit. All I wanted was a glass of water from the faucet.11 points

I'm really torn on this. I'm of about five minds on it. 1) From a constitutional and democratic standpoint, Troph is exactly right. The President is the constitutional head of the executive branch, and his orders must be followed (unless they are illegal orders, as may be the case with respect to an assassination of Assad). But beyond the constitutionalist issue, there's the simple matter of democratic legitimacy. The people elected Donald Trump. They didn't elect Jim Mattis or John Kelly or Mike Pompeo or any of these other guys in the West Wing. They elected Donald Trump. And they should face the consequences of that action. And perhaps only by facing the consequences of that action will they realize what a bad decision that was. Insulating the people from those consequences only offers to ensure that they make the same mistake again. And by doing that, you're not helping the people or the Republic. 2) Buuuuuuut . . . and I can't emphasize this enough . . . I'm one of the people, and I don't want to feel the consequences of having Donald Trump as president. Because aside from all the bullshit, the consequences could very conceivably involve nuclear hellfire. And if that's what we're talking about, then the whole "make the people face the consequences so they don't do it again" thinking kind of evaporates. You can let the kid touch the hot stove so that he learns not to touch a hot stove again; you can't sit and watch as a kid douses himself in gasoline and starts playing with matches. 3) But there's a way to kick the matches out of the kid's hands and throw him in the shower to wash the gasoline off--impeachment and conviction. And to the extent you're preventing that from happening, you're not helping. You're letting the kid sit there covered in gasoline and trying to distract him with another toy. And so that may prevent the self-immolation. But it's not remedying the imminent danger of the kid being covered in gasoline. Fucking throw that kid in the shower and give him a good scolding. 4) Buuuuuuut . . . you can't do that. And we all know that. Because--and here's where the ultimate blame lies in this entire debacle, which must not be forgotten--the Republicans in Congress won't actually impeach and convict Trump. They're not going to do anything to hold him accountable or otherwise rein him in. So knowing that you can't take the gasoline-soaked toddler and toss him into the shower and give him a good scolding, what do you do? If giving him a new (nonflammable) toy to play with in hopes of distracting him is the best you can do, isn't that what should be done? 5) But dammit--this shit aint right. We have an illegitimate government, elected by nobody and apparently not accountable to anybody. Judging from the announcement that it is going to violate a court order on the baby jails, we also have an outlaw government. Yeah--we have an illegitimate outlaw administration. In the United States. And if that's the case--and according to the people inside the administration itself, it is--we're rapidly approaching the point (if we haven't reached it already) at which revolution becomes not just permissible, but obligatory.9 points

The best part of his take on the NFL situation was explaining to people that soldiers on foreign soil aren't the only ones who fought for our freedoms. Hell, soldiers on foreign soil are said to be "fighting for our freedom" but usually aren't actually doing anything to defend our freedom as American citizens. All the civil rights moments he touched on were much more about securing the freedoms promised to every American than boots on the ground in Uganda. Don't get me wrong, humanitarian missions are important and I support them in a lot of cases, I just get tired of the talking point about how every member of the United States military is always fighting for our freedom when that's not the case. And more importantly the fact that the same people who "support our troops" ignore citizens at home actually fighting for it. Of course, I'm not pretending for a moment that these people are going to realize the error of their ways by watching that video, but it was still nice to see.8 points

Hill went into his slide before Johnson went down. Johnson lowered his shoulder for the hit after Hill was already sliding. This image is obviously after Hill has already started his sliding motion and there's still time for Johnson to pull off, and Johnson still hasn't lowered his shoulder. It was a bad play and Johnson paid the consequence along with his team.7 points

My suburban white wife really was impressed by Beto on Ellen yesterday and it caused her to go watch the NFL kneeling video. She’s a life long Republican non-voter who doesn’t like politics and was generally irritated at the NFL guys for kneeling but she said “hell yeah they should kneel” after watching Beto. Between my encouragement to check him out and what she saw of him yesterday she’s all in and will actually vote this fall. She also thinks Trump is an utter scumbag so that helps.7 points

Sooooo.... it's Wednesday. CDC has asked for the dogs to be called off, because we don't want the players cratering with so much football remaining. Noticeably, this request for a detente wisely does not mention the request is for the benefit of staff. Okay. Fine. CDC, you want us to calm down, and get back on the reservation? Here's the biggest beef I have 96 hours on. Playing too hard is not a good reason for losing. There are no good reasons for losing. Here, in 2018, we are in the "post fact" era. But don't try to slip a cheap jedi mind trick past this fanbase. Do not insult us with a cheap attempt to mind-fuck us. Leave that to the politicians and media. CDC, you want us to call off the dogs? Then get Tom to stand up on Monday and downplay the win over Tulsa, express his thanks and respect for the fanbase that PAYS HIS SALARY, and show just the slightest degree of humility, and we'll consider backing down. Why is the media throwing the gloves on the floor? Because they witnessed the 90%+ near-universal combustion of this fanbase in less than 10 minutes Saturday morning. Here we are now. Entertain us.7 points

About 12 years ago, I saw Burt Reynolds at a restaurant in Florida. Most of the place ignored him so that he could have his privacy. When he was leaving a girl started to approached him with a camera. She obviously wanted a picture of the Bandit. When Burt saw her standing there she looked a little embarrassed and started to back away without saying anything. Burt said, "Trying to get a picture?", she mumbled, "yeah". Burt then feigned an irritated face and then opened his arms and said, "Get over here you little hussy." He posed for a few pictures with her and then left. The whole time I am looking at this 70 something year old man thinking, I wish I was as cool as him.6 points

Here is one of my favorites when it comes to Texas A&M. They claim to be the wealthiest public university in the nation. Below is a link to their most recent audited financial statements. On page 42 of the pdf, line item 55 lists the instution's total endowment - $416,846,140. They claim an $11 billion endowment. Their actual endowment is barely $400 million. TCU's is four times that. This is aggy. They take the easy way out, make buffoonish claims, and ignore the reality of their situation. And wonder why they aren't situated similar to other universities. They don't respect the hard work and alumni sacrifices that went into building more esteemed institutions. They are what we refer to as "all hat, and no cattle." https://s3.amazonaws.com/raw.texastribune.org/college_sports/2015-2016/ncaa-texas-am-2015-2016.pdf5 points

I don't really have a problem with people in the administration responding to this crisis by trying to slow-play dangerous shit ordered by the president. That's a rational moral choice, particularly if you keep it quiet to avoid detection. I do have a problem with the public, self-congratulatory rationalization in this article. If you're going to speak out, urge impeachment or the 25th — and, especially, voting for the opposition in the coming elections. Not "stay calm everyone, the steady state has this on lock to deliver awesome tax cuts and deregulation while doing our best to minimize the damage from the insane boy-king." This is how collaborators have always rationalized what they are doing.5 points

Subverting the direct authority of the President of the United States when you work at the White House is treasonous. The Op-Ed is a coward and should resign. The precedent set by such resistance is far more dangerous than anything Trump is doing.5 points

Unless you consider Kansas State to be like Maryland. Fuck y’all for wishing to go back to 9-win purgatory. Teams don’t set winning 9 games as a goal. Mack quit recruiting in 2005. He quit coaching at the end of 2009. He fucked us good.5 points

Mack would almost always win close games. IDK the record but it was something ridiculous. If we got the ball back in the final few minutes we could always count on a scoring driving in clutch time. Mack also went 10-5 in bowl games here.5 points

I disagree. Nothing trumps the hero worship of our troops. Law Enforcement is a distant second. I support our troops and volunteer with veterans a lot. I know some real fuck-ups who’d be in jail without the Army, and some real heroes. I’m grateful for their service. I wish we did a fuckton more to help them return to civilian life. But the cult like worship of our troops is dangerously over the top. I’m glad it’s not like the Vietnam Era. But to act like these guys are all superhuman heroes without fault is pretty ridiculous. But it’s far easier to hug the flag than sit down and discuss how broken are system is.4 points

It still blows me away that Ed fucking orgeron has enough swamp ass brains in him to fire the OC at lsu even after going 9-4 but Tom can't release tim beck after 7-5 and after he had to call the bowl game. How do you pay someone 800K a year to call plays then take over play calling or use the excuse its a team game planning effort? Then said ex OC from lsu beats you. I don't think I could ever make this scenario up if I even tried.4 points

This feels like a highly coordinated effort by D Senators that basically says "go ahead, kick us all out". Not a news flash, I realize, but actually watching Democrats behave as if they have a spine and/or balls is refreshing.4 points

Just went over each box score from 1998-2013. Entering the 4th quarter, if we had a 10 point lead or less including tied, Mack was 40-9 and that even includes the bad years. The nine losses were: - Tech 1998 (led 21-20; lost 35-42) - NC State 1999 (led 17-9; lost 20-23) - aggy 1999 (led 16-13; lost 16-20) - *Oregon 2000 (tied 21-21; lost 30-35) - blowu 2002 (led 17-14; lost 24-35) - Tech 2002 (tied 28-28; lost 38-42) - aggy 2006 (led 7-6; lost 6-12) - Baylor 2010 (led 19-17; lost 22-30) - West Virginia 2012 (led 38-34; lost 48-45) *Bowl Game When trailing by 10 points or less entering the 4th quarter, Mack was 10-11. The 10 comebacks were: - Baylor 1998 (down 8-13, won 30-20) - *Michigan 2005 (down 21-31, won 38-37) - Ohio State 2005 (down 16-22, won 25-22) - *USC 2006 (down 23-24, won 41-38) - Tech 2006 (down 28-31, won 35-31) - *Iowa 2006 (down 20-21, won 26-24) - Nebraska 2007 (down 9-17, won 28-25) - BYU 2011 (down 10-16, won 17-16) - Kansas 2012 (down 7-14, won 21-17) - *Oregon State 2012 (down 17-27, won 31-27) *Bowl Game So if Texas was +/- 10 points entering the 4th quarter, Texas was 50-20 under Mack or .714. I believe the largest 4th quarter comeback under Mack was 2007 Oklahoma State (down 14-35; won 38-35). Another large comeback was the 2000 Holiday Bowl down 16 entering the 4th. The largest lead given up resulting in a loss in the 4th quarter was 8 against NC State in 1999. Most of Mack's losses the games were over in the first half.4 points

Our political foundation is extraordinary. But for some reason, we've come to believe that Americans somehow reside outside the realm of human failings and are extraordinary as people. Some kind of liberty for all ubermenchen. We are not. We are subject to the same whims and follies as all other humans. The Founding Fathers realized this and tried to protect us from it. Many have allowed themselves to be lulled into the daydream of being somehow better than the rest of the humanity and its' pitfalls. We're tripping mightily but I'm hopeful the fall will awaken us from our slumber. It's going to be painful though.4 points

Let me ask you this, to approach it from another direction. Let's say Obama, or either Bush, or Clinton had given his staff some sort of directive that he believed to be an important and correct decision. And let's say the staffer ignored it because they disagreed with it. What do you think the president would have done - 1) fired the staffer and demanded that his order be carried out or 2) already have forgotten about whatever the order he gave yesterday was, and moved on to whatever other stupid shiny toy of the day caught his fancy? If there were a competent president in office, a cabinet member blowing him off for 24 hours wouldn't stop the president's order from happening. The fact that Trump never circles back and demands his order be carried out means one of a few possibilities: 1) He changed his mind 2) He just says shit he doesn't mean from day-to-day based on whichever way the wind is blowing, and doesn't really intend for it to be carried out 3) He's unfit for office 4) He already forgot about it, which I think would circle back to #3 In any of those situations, I don't think blowing him off for 24 hours (or however long) creates any sort of crisis. His "directives" aren't real things. If they were, he would fire people until they got done, as is his right. I just don't see the "crisis". If it were a normal, competent president, then perhaps we'd be talking a silent coup. But this isn't that.4 points

took my 10 year old down to a spot in Lytle just south of san Antonio. We had access to a huge field of sunflowers. The sheer volume of birds was absolutely argentina levels. Kiddo shot about 400 rounds, and hit 13 birds. Not bad considering he'd never shot a shotgun, nor ever fired at a moving target ever. Everyone else easily limited out. I hadn't been bird hunting in so long I had forgotten how fun it was. Can't wait to go back. I need to get a new gun for me and the kiddo.4 points

The QB made the decision to slide TOO LATE. Don't watch it in slow motion, watch it full speed, and watch GJ. It was 3rd and 9, the QB takes off full speed running strait up, doesn't "give himself up" until 42:58 play starts 43:03 players are 7 yards away, QB is running full speed and GJ has started to break down so he doesn't get juked 43:04 Players are two yards away, QB begins to slide, at this point GJ has already pushed his momentum forward to go for the tackle at the waist. Right here, if he goes "high" that is a penalty for going helmet to helmet, so he goes low. still on 43:04 all this happened within 1 sec, he broke down, went for the tackle as the qb was sliding and made the contact helmet to helmet If the QB is allowed to give himself up, he should do it before the defenders are two yards away. If the QB is protected from getting hit, he scrambles and becomes a ball runner without the ability to hit him as you tackle him, they should just call him down as soon as he's touched. Put a different color jersey on the QB and protect him from getting tackled in the open field. Because that is all GJ was trying to do, is not get beat in the open field, so he broke down and went low. The QB drops at literally the last second, when GJ is two yards away, and this is what brought his helmet down to the level where GJ is going to hit him. It's tough to impossible being a defender against a running QB, if you are going to get thrown out of the game for trying to tackle the guy, because he can "give himself up" at the last possible second. It's a bad rule, if the QB doesn't give himself up with defenders 4 or 5 yards away, they are already going to be initiating the tackle, so that extra yard he's trying to pick up for the first down isn't compatible with "give yourself up". Can't have it both ways.4 points
