This is such bullshit. Ohio State - Michigan almost always kicks at 11am. Quit fucking whining. If you haven't gotten used to 11am or noon kickoffs by now, that's on you. I'll be up at 6am and I'll have a bloody mary in my hand before 7am. It's Texas/OU. They could play at 4am in a parking lot and I'd be ready. Step your game up.12 points

Beto should call Cruz out publicly accusing his wife of this. The worst that will happen is Cruz will end up phone banking and campaigning for Beto.11 points

And let me add also that it's good that this web community is a place where people can ask for help and advice on personal issues, and even aside from the irrelevance of such issues to political debate, we should really avoid shaming people for sharing their struggles. There's a thread for alcoholics, a thread for people going through a divorce, etc., and that's a positive thing for this site to have. I know it can be tempting to use sensitive personal disclosures against someone in a heated political debate, but I strongly encourage everyone to take a step back and try to have some perspective on what we are doing here. Nothing said here will actually affect whether Kavanaugh is confirmed, but shaming/bullying posters over stuff like this can actually hurt people in real life, whether the target of the attack or someone who will refrain from sharing their struggles on another thread to avoid it being used against them.9 points

Fake headline is fake, don't be a sucker. Here's the quote, tell me what part you think isn't true: "That injustice, to many more people here than I know firsthand, continues to persist today. That system of suspending somebody, solely based on the color of their skin; searching that person solely based on the color of their skin; stopping that person solely based on the color of their skin; shooting that person solely based on the color of their skin; throwing the book at that person and letting them rot behind bars solely based on the color of their skin, is why some have called this, I think it is an apt description, the new Jim Crow."8 points

Republicans don't know what socialism is. They just hate it because Fox News tells them to. Republicans don't know what's in the Affordable Care Act. They just hate it because Fox News tells them to. Republicans don't know what climate change is. They just think it's bullshit because Fox News tells them to. Republicans don't know how individual liberty works. They just know it applies to their gun ownership and not to gay marriage, because that's what Fox News tells them. Etc.8 points

Ok. so i waded through the last 6 pages or so to see if this viewpoint had been posted. Maybe it was posted and I missed it, so SIAP. I think it's a good one and deserves to be considered when we are trying to decide if someone is up to the task of Supreme Court Justice. My core issue with Judge Kavanaugh goes far deeper than the accusations of drunken sexual violence; as terrible as that is, both he and Dr. Ford are entitled to the presumption of innocence prior to a fair hearing. So, let’s assume for the moment that he has no memory of the incident and therefore sees himself as innocent. Fair. That being the case, he has options. 2/ Why on earth would his first instinct be to lawyer up, run to the security of the White House for hours long interrogation practice sessions, and allow people IN HIS DEFENSE to viciously smear, attack, and threaten Dr. Ford to the degree that she actually has to flee her home 3/ to protect her family? Is this the behavior we expect in a Supreme Court Justice? Why not simply ask that the pace slow down so that his innocence could be proven, while demanding of his supporters that the temperature cool in deference to her safety? 4/ Why not show some kind of recognition of the value of her evidence and the personal impact it obviates, situationally something he’s surely encountered as a judge before and undoubtedly will if confirmed? 5/ Why not, as a decent, innocent, competent, fair-minded adult, ask that she be protected and the claim fully investigated? The outcome of the investigation is obviously important, but pales in comparison to the judgment of the man TODAY. 6/ Consider the accusation as a test of judicial temperament; does Judge Kavanaugh pass that test? I don’t think he does. Instead of the wise, decent, Solomonic jurist we all need on the bench, he emerges as little more than a dismissive, partisan Bro, running to cover 7/ his potential culpability under the protection of a White House that habitually coddles sexual predators and a GOP machine determined to install him on the highest court at all costs. 8/ It stains his party permanently, and diminishes himself needlessly, all before an airing of evidence. Not a good look. We all deserve better. /end6 points

Well, if we ever make it to the Big 12 title game we might get to see what Texas/OU at Jerry World is like. Spoiler: it will suck compared to the Cotton Bowl.6 points

My fiancee is white (actually assiniboine with a bit of japanese but she looks white with maybe a little ambiguity) but comes from a fairly broke "white trash" family. I don't know if this is the thing but I was often frustrated early in our relationship about how fucking difficult everything was. Her car wasn't reliable, "running low on money" meant digging through couch cushions for change to try and make it till Friday, she had no family support. Somebody broke into her car and took her wallet - getting her to acquire a new driver's license was a massive pain in the ass. Yeah just pop over to a DMV office during banking hours, nbd. Miss work or class, hope you don't get pulled over for one of the many things wrong with your car (ah shit it needs a new belt). Or just ask your mom for help. Oh, same fucking deal with her. No social pressure to get your shit together either because nobody else has their shit together. I dunno, I'm not sure I can describe in detail how every little thing was so much bigger of a roadblock, and she's in a way better place now than before. But it gave me a lot of perspective about how much more difficult it is when you're broke af. And actually broke, no credit card broke, shitty hourly job broke, not "I am low on cash reserves for the next week and need to be more prudent with my choices" broke. btw, she's never voted before, claims it's because she always felt like it didn't matter. even before this election, I gave her massive amounts of shit any time she would talk about anything political. she's way on board at this point. went from not sure about having a bumper sticker on my truck in the driveway to bumper stickers everywhere, sign in the yard, bugging the rest of her family to vote, donating money, voter deputy registrar, etc.6 points

Actually the Dallas politicians are the ones putting the band aids on this thing after everything went to JerryWorld. They've put a decent amount of money into that stadium for essentially one big game, 1 lower tier game, 1 no one gives a shit about game, and an afterthought late December bowl game. And before someone hits back about JerryWorld, the last thing in this world I would've wanted is a shrine to how college football used to be torn down for that shitfest cavern in Arlington going in at Fair Park. Texas OU should never set foot in a stadium like JerryWorld unless it's a rematch in the ridiculous Big 12 CCG.5 points

There will always be crybabies in every fanbase. We are lucky to participate in what is, in my humble estimation, the best sporting event in America every year. And some people will be downright miserable that it starts 3 1/2 hours earlier than they'd personally prefer. Yes, you will feel fucking miserable when you wake up at 6am if you did anything correctly on Friday night. Yes, it will be worth it. It is the best day of the year. You can keep Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the 4th of July. As long as I have TX/OU at Fair Park in October, that's all I need.5 points

Yeah there is something great about being parked and cracking your first beer before the sun comes up. This year I will be leaving home at 6am to make it to parking lot at 7am when it opens. Drink beer until 10. Head into stadium (with flask). After game heading straight to Love Field to catch a flight to Vegas for the McGregor fight, then out to a party afterwards. Good chance I'll be dead by Sunday.4 points

First, I know it's a matter of taste. I'm not denigrating people who like different types of movies than I do. I find it depressing as a film fan that smart people are debating the merits of Marvel, DC, and Disney because those studios with their franchises are flooding the lion's share of screens everywhere. It's all largely the same to me. There have been some good super hero movies such as Iron Man or Deadpool that I liked. I've never been much of a fan of Star Wars. I do like a solid action movie or a military thriller. I like mainstream movies that were made on a smaller scale than saving the planet/galaxy from destruction. I miss that part of the spectrum. Think Thief, Ronin, The Road Warrior, or LA Confidential. Go way back and look at Warren Oats as Dillinger, Sean Connery in The Wind and the Lion or The Man Who Would Be King. These were good movies with audience appeal. Fortunately TV has taken up some of the slack. Maybe my lament is based on my age. I miss going to the theater as often as I used to.4 points

Yeah... no. Just no. The only thing that needs to ever visit norman is a fucking meteor. This entire enterprise of a home and home series is the worst idea in the history of the worst ideas. Furthermore, jerry can fuck off a cliff and take his shitty team and money with him. He can leave Geoff Swaim and Connor Williams.4 points

This game should be played at 2:30 every fucking year, tv networks be damned. I would actually like to see that put in the next tv contract when we can hold the conference hostage with the threat of bolting for greener pastures. The game is at 2:30, you fucknuts figure out what channel you would like to put it on.4 points
