Update. She was released from the hospital this morning. I did find out late last night that at the point I (and the hospital) thought she had been put in a room, she had in fact not. She was still in the ER which is why no one was answering in "her room". Good news is, just a broken arm and some major bruising from the accident. From my understanding she was driving in the rain and rear ended another vehicle on a bridge somewhere out in BFE. When I talked to her late last night (early this morning?) she was crying and saying "the car was on my legs", which I think she was referring to the fact the car was crushed and had her pinned. She was pretty heavily medicated and pretty much in shock so I'm not really sure what that meant. Surely she was not thrown clear and the car on top of her. Apparently there were no other injuries, so it could have been a lot worse than it was. Her older sister left Nacogdoches late last night and is with now trying to get details on exactly how and why the accident occurred. I want to thank you all for your warm thoughts and prayers over this, it truly has mean't a lot to our entire family. It really sucks when your children are all grown up and scattered all over the place especially when something like this happens. Thanks again and rep all around.13 points

Just got a call about 40 minutes ago that our youngest daughter had been in a car accident and West Texas around the Eola coming home from work. Jaws of life were called to cut her out of the car, but apparently no serious injuries as they put her into a room pretty quickly. Have been calling Shannon Hospital over and over and they connect me to her room but there is no answer. Was told by the receptionist says probably cuz a doctor is working with her talking to her examining and her. This poor girl just went through a horrible divorce that was finally finalized on the 11th and was looking forward to getting on with her life. Any warm thoughts prayers or hopes are greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless.12 points

It's just a bunch of new posters with no knowledge of board history before 2017 rushing to join in the next pile on because they think this is how it's done.10 points

I've explained this before but it's important so I'll do it again. Aggies aren't unique. There are Aggies in many different states. And, yes, typically they hail from the less challenging university of the State where they reside. You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know… morons. So the phrase "Texas Aggies" doesn't define them as Texas like they think it does. What it's really doing is letting people know which particular brand of Aggie that they are. It's not Aggies that's modifying Texas, it's Texas that is modifying Aggies in that two word description. They are Texas Aggies, which differentiates them from New Mexico Aggies, California Aggies, Oklahoma Aggies (even Okies realized that was synonymous with morons so now they're the Cowboys), Mississippi Aggies (also realized it, now Bulldogs), Michigan Aggies (again, now Spartans), UMass (also smarter than the Texas version, now the Minutemen), UConn (yep, now Huskies), North Carolina Aggies, Utah Aggies, Delaware Aggies, etc. Their insistence on using that description reinforces both their need to feel more important than they are as well as their inability to recognize how entirely common they are and how special they aren't. It's perfect.10 points

I had a good friend move to Nebraska, and raved about how friendly everyone is. He got fed up with the city life and bought a nice little farm. The first day he was out there the old farmer from next door came over to say hi. He said the farmer was super friendly and nice. The farmer him "We're having a party over at our place tonight. It'll be a heck of good a time. There'll be a little drinkin'. A little fighitn'. And a little fornicatin'." My friend told him "well that sounds real nice mister, what time should I be there?" And the old farmer said "Any time you'd like, it'll just be the two of us." Just real good people. He said it was a fun party.8 points

You know what else is still chasing Kyler? 0-1 against Texas. That shit will haunt that ewok in his sleep. The chasm between Caden Sterns as a player and person and Bookie Radley-Hines are night and fucking day. You can jack off to ol’Bookie’s recruiting ratings and I’ll watch Sterns become an All-American. Tell you what though, Bookie’s an okie through and through, that much is for fucking certain.8 points

There was collusion the moment we all watched Donald ask the Russians to hack Hillary live on national television. What people want is justice for what is already clear to any rational person.7 points

Guy at the office coffee pot said he thought the call was right. I stared at him for about 7 seconds until it became uncomfortable and said, "no." And I walked away. I can't be here today.6 points

Somewhat lost among the deserved hype of Caden Sterns is the play of BJ Foster, who is wreaking havoc near the line of scrimmage. Foster is a true freshman, but he is already the best natural blitzer on this defense. GIFs courtesy of Ian Boyd. Coming from the boundary side here, he crosses the face of the Baylor RT like it's child's play. His blitz here on the last drive of the Baylor game completely blew up the play. Even when he doesn't get home, the extra attention that blockers give him free up other players to win 1-on-1 matchups and disrupt the play. Omenihu easily beats his guy without any other obstacle because Foster is occupying the LG and RB here. Of course, his ability to shed or avoid blockers makes him valuable in playing the run as well... He's still learning the nuances of coverage and pattern-matching, but his football instincts allow him to make plays even now. This safety class is very, very special, and we haven't even seen what Overshown can do yet.5 points

In 2017 aggy opponent's scoring drives averaged 2:36. So far in 2018, aggy opponent's scoring drives are averaging 1:53. That's a 27.5% decrease in the average time it is taking their opponents to score. Letting your opponent score quickly in order to inflate your time of possession sounds like a sure fire way to win more games.5 points

i appreciate this response to wildcat as being in good faith. what you may or may not know is that there is a widespread effort amongst extremist right-wing sites and news sources to tie this journalist to as many bad guys and groups as possible in order to imply he somehow deserved it. neither wildcat nor i would happen to be that audience, but there is some definite shit stirring going on, and your flippant comment that interviewing bin laden whilst he was mujahadeen, and mourning that bin laden fell for hate and passion: nobody wants context, though, and i think you may have inadvertently stepped into the stirred up shit with your "apparently he was tight with bin laden" comment that seemed to tie into the current extreme right-wing narrative of implication of this journalist. shit, during those mujahadeen days, our country was tight with bin laden. anyways, hope that gives some context from a third-party perspective between you and @wildcat095 points

Speaking of LHN, are they going to have a show on our Nobel Prize winning alum? https://news.utexas.edu/2018/10/01/ut-austin-alum-james-allison-awarded-nobel-prize I don't remember one for last year's winner Michael Young. As much as I love watching replays of old wins, we need to use the network for some academic good while it still exists.5 points

The clear implication in the new right-wing "he was tight with OBL" line is that he was an asshole so he deserved what he got. "He was pretty tight with" is nowhere near remotely the same as "they had a relationship." "He was pretty tight with" = they were fucking friends. If you're going to make that claim, you better have better evidence of their friendship than the fact that he fucking interviewed him. The world is full of great journalists who put their lives on the line every day in conflict zones interviewing assholes. That's extremely shitty evidence that they were friends. For you to parrot the new right-wing bullshit "he was tight with" line, then back off to "I just said they had a relationship" is disingenuous and something you used to be better than.5 points

Saudi Arabia needs us far more than we need them. The issue isn't what America needs, however, it's what our wealth class needs. Our wealth class is deeply in bed with Saudi Arabia, so they pay to spread the message that we ALL need Saudi Arabia. And the conservative water carriers spread the message for free on social media. bing bong5 points
