Gonna be really hard to go 8-8 with a 12-game college football schedule. But if anyone's up for the job, it's Jeff Fisher.16 points

I gotta agree with this sadly. I live in in a very rural area on the edge of the pine curtain, and have three vets in my fire department I work closely with. They all think Trump is awesome. They don't research anything, they don't look at anything but fox news or get their talking points from their buddies who watch Fox news. Recently they have been emboldened to attack my stances more, they keep talking about the Beetoh sticker on my car. They just know that when the shit hits the fan, all the POC welfare queens and drug dealers are abandoning Houston and Dallas and headed here to raid their pantries, rape their 50-80 year old wives and whatnot. But never fear because they all have huge arsenals, and carry constantly. Because blowing the shit out of any human who looks sideways to them is where we are. Back the blue! They are waiting for the meltdown, the civil war. They dream about it, that way they can go out in a blaze of glory defending something? The rural community always has felt demeaned by the urban areas. They tax us to use our money to give to their welfare queens. They laugh at us, always two years behind in fashion or other trends, the poor country cousins. It is all camo, ammo and bling now. The uniform is a gimme cap (usually with at least some camo), a goatee, and sunglasses perched on the bill of that cap night or day. It's crazy and it's sad. It is like mob mentality now. They have been so stirred up for so long all they can see is rage. It is there under the surface, you just barely have to scratch to get through the veneer. Their anger keeps them from stepping back and looking at what they are doing, and why? Had one of them tell me no one tells the truth anymore, he doesn't believe any of them. But then he goes on this rant about how Trump is a great leader because he takes a stance and won't back down. People admire that. Yep, King waffle never backtracks on any of his stances. Epitome of leadership. But you try to argue and all they have is "I don't want to hear it, no one tells the truth anymore. I don't pay attention to any of it." Fucking Active measures! You just want to tie them down and make them watch that damn video on the active measures thread. But so many are so far down the rabbit hole, they simply can't accept they might have been duped.15 points

Mike Gundy Has Solved College Football’s Fake Injury Problem, If Anyone Will Listen Tully Corcoran One of the advantages you gain by running a hurry-up offense is that the defense not only doesn't have time to rest, but doesn't have time to substitute either, unless there is a timeout - or an injury. And so in the last several years - here's USA Today writing about the issue in 2013 - the scourge of fake injuries has developed in college football. Dude goes down, writhes around in pain for a few seconds, gets helped off the field and then pretty much immediately, as if by miracle, he's been healed. This maneuver has dang near caused fights between college football coaches, but until now nobody has come up with a very good idea for putting a stop to it. Enter Mike Gundy. Gundy isn't just thinking out loud here. He made this suggestion to the Big 12 coordinator of officials, who told him he needed to run it through the NCAA. This is not a small issue, either. It has become a regular part of college football games, and nothing about that is good. This is a hacky and desperate defensive maneuver that a guy ought to be ashamed of. But since shame doesn't seem to be much of a deterrent in the sports world, we're going to have to write down yet another rule. The obvious counterpoint to Gundy's idea is that this rule would encourage players to play through injuries. But, for one thing, they already do that. For another, if Gundy is correct, a player who is legitimately injured will be missing six or eight plays anyway, so the point is moot, or close to it. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/mike-gundy-has-solved-college-football’s-fake-injury-problem-if-anyone-will-listen/ar-BBPUPwq14 points

And fuck Bob Corker and Jeff Flake. I can moan too. You assholes are part of the United States Congress. We don't need you to help us make "concerned" gestures. Oh, and fuck you too, Ben Sasse, while you stand around and make sad faces. Your leader has more derision for the guy who killed Bin Laden than a Prince who committed murder. Go finger each other behind closed doors and spare us the "in sentiment only" visuals.9 points

On top of everything else that's silly and deranged, the military has been told to use force on the border, breaking laws of having the military provide domestic law enforcement. Where's Governor Jade Helm Hot Wheels this time? There's literally not a single stance this administration has taken that hasn't transitioned into a hilarious cartoon of hypocrisy for its supporters -- no single avenue of logic for Trump supporters to make realistic arguments for supporting this orange clown. It requires capitulation and humility to stand by him. A complete reversal of all the things they said mattered yesterday. Remember when Obama was too apologetic to Saudi royalty? This guy is apologizing for them committing murder and thanking them in front of the world for reasons that aren't even true in the first place. Trump supporters are required to willfully fall in line in spite of all logic and must contort themselves to defending actions that were all things they stood against 18 months ago -- the requirement is to stand for nothing, ignore reality and to surrender everything for which you once claimed to stand. It's amazing to watch this level of idolatry that folds them into a state of moral masochism. Even the evangelical right is willing to dabble in nihilistic paganism to stay abreast of this self indulgent fool. The GOP members who are on their way out will be the lone voices as everyone else watches us turn a really bizarre corner.7 points

Yeah! Fuck due process! Look, like 90% of charged criminals are either convicted or plead guilty. In the meantime, we foot the bill for the courts, the judges, the staff, prosecutors, and public defenders. This is why the plan for most is to simply overwhelm our judicial system with crimes (1% of our population is behind bars). Clog the system. Make bail, and never show up for your trial and disappear. Obviously the solution is to just execute anyone charged with a crime! No money needed for courts, attorneys, or jails.7 points

See what you do is drink in Dallas or Ft Worth until 2am, Uber to the titter for after hours dances until 4am. Uber to Waffle House on Collins. Eat. Mix up some Bloody Mary's and begin tailgating. Now it's technically a night game, even if the sun is out, because you never went to sleep.7 points

Absolutely not. I'm sure TheTexasHammer is right there with you gnashing his teeth and wringing his hands over this clear demonstration of sloth and indifference by Cam Rising. Everyone knows that aTm's backup would be way more engaged in similar circumstances, and that just doesn't sit right with a man like TheTexasHammer. You and him should get together and go bowling.6 points

Can we talk about Christmas gifting? I hate giving other adults gifts, and I don't want them in return. Leave gifts for the kids, and just enjoy each other's company. Use the money you would have spent on said gifts on buying the things you actually need for yourself and give others the same consideration. God, I hate that part of Christmas.6 points

These motherfucking Saudis funded and supported the people who flew planes into NYC killing thousands of Americans. Direct consequences of action in yemen ~15k dead, indirect actions tack on another ~50k or so. They decapitate and crucify homosexuals and generally make a habit of wiping their ass with human rights. If you still cling to the delusion that America actually has values centered around democracy, self determination, and basic human rights our relationship to SA is contradictory to all of them. But we've been best buddies now for nearly 35 years. Propping up the petro dollar, exporting the machinery of war to the ME, and promoting regional and worldwide hegemony at the expense of human rights. The reality is that judging by actions and not rhetoric, those are in fact our core American values. And while the death of a journalist in Turkey and the bitch ass response from the WH is going to result in a little dustup in the short term, the most likely outcome is that we are going to drift back to a status quo with SA, no matter who is in power here or there.6 points

Can't afford rolls? Shit, how much money do you think your wife's gonna slip her during dinner after the sob stories of "I don't know if I've got enough gas in my tank to get home" and "I hope it doesn't get too cold tonight since my electricity is turned off?" Not family related, but definite fucking drama hit our house yesterday. Brined my turkey & was doing general feast prep when I reached under the kitchen sink & found 1/4" of water on the bottom of the cabinet. Fuck. Leak in the faucet head was dripping down into the cabinet. Picked up a new, better one at Home Depot & spent the afternoon replacing the old one which wouldn't budge. Two of my buddies came over to help & we eventually ended up taking out the whole sink & moving it to the backyard where we were finally able to bust out the old faucet. What should've taken 90 minutes tops ended up being a 4 hour pain in the ass. But I'm thanking my lucky stars this happened on Tuesday & not Thursday morning during feast prep with everything closed down.6 points

I’m gonna side with the American Academy of Pediatrics versus any study that says there are health and developmental benefits for corporal punishment. But then, I like fact-based science, not “back in my day” anecdotal evidence. So I may be biased.5 points

Well, 1 week later, and we're finally home. It's been a crazy ride I dont ever want to go down again. Seeing her with a ventilator tube and not being able to hold her had to be one of the hardest things in a parents' world. To be around so many families going through such horrible things. To hear nurses running down the hallway calling for a crash cart. 7 pm last night, we were upgraded to a private room outside of the ICU, and she had all her sensors removed but her o2 sensor, her feeding tube pulled, and we were able to hold her without worrying something would fall out. She began feeding normally again, and this morning we got our release orders. I cant say how thankful I am for those doctors and nurses, but i hope i never have to see them at their work again. And on that note, we're now looking for a nanny.5 points
