  2. OK, I'm going to put something out there I probably shouldn't. I received $3.5mm from a negligence lawsuit against an equipment manufacturer when I was injured. If ANYONE thinks for one minute that is was worth it, they are beyond stupid. Do you think for a second that the money made one damned bit of difference? Hell no. I'd give $350mm to have had my health and leg back these past 22 years. Do you have any idea that all these years later I still have nightmares about the accident and find myself jumping out of bed screaming trying to get off the machine before I got crushed. Or how many damned things I was unable to do with my eight grandchildren over the years? Hell, I missed my oldest granddaughters birth because I was still in the hospital from the accident. I've seen and heard a lot of opinions and thoughts about catastrophic injuries over the years, but GD some guys take the fucking cake.

  3. The public apology was because she was a British citizen, not a Kiwi. There have been six suspected murders in the last 11 days in New Zealand. Also just saw that New Zealand is at 59 murders this year and counting. While not Chicago high, it's not insignificant either. A little context would have been great.

  8. And the look from Schumer as Trump was doing it . . . I know that look. I've had it plenty of times in deposition. It's the look of "holy shit I can't believe he's saying exactly what I want him to say . . . just don't look at him, lest he stop talking . . . and damned sure as hell don't crack a smile . . . just keep looking at your notes . . . keep talking, you stupid motherfucker; keep talking . . . ."

  9. Kevin Creed, there is nothing classic about orange, black, and white for Texas. Black is not, nor has it ever been one of our school colors. It looks like shit anyway. Now go fuck yourself, you fucking water head. I’d shove that helmet up your ass if you were in the same room with me. P.S. The fade went out of style with your 1993 GMC Sierra, you stupid fuck. Get back to your village. They’re lost without their idiot.

  15. I've been anti-Mehringer and Warehime for a long time, but I think you're giving Herman too little credit. After last season, he effectively demoted both Warehime and Mehringer, moving Meekins to look over Meh's shoulder and replacing Warehime with Herb Hand. He also tried to go get some more Xs & Os firepower when he tried to hire Noel Mazzone as an analyst. Should he have cut ties with Mehringer and Warehime after last year? Almost certainly. Herman is clearly overvaluing staff continuity (probably because he believes it to be a reflection of himself as head coach)--remember that Urban Meyer made a huge deal when he fired Zach Smith that Smith was the only coach Meyer had ever fired. But to say that that Herman's hiring history here shows that he is "befuddled" by having to evaluate staff is hyperbolic even for you, CTJ. With that said, those two motherfuckers better not be on staff next year. And Herman ought to do everything in his power to keep Beck and bring in Beatty.

  20. If a coach needs to go, CDC isn't going to call Herman into his office and tell him he needs to fire this specific coach and to hire this other specific coach. He's going to ask high level questions about why certain performance benchmarks aren't being met, what are you going to do about them, and what can I do to help?

  21. Selfishness is blind, thus I was unaware to the pain and suffering I had caused my ex wife, mother, family and friends. I resented a family member for telling my mother I looked unhealthy, he's a doctor, would know. I went from drinking after work to drinking around the clock, my body would wake me and tell me it was time to drink. 3M, 4am, time to drink. I quit cold turkey, I came out of my alcoholic seizure sitting on my toilet with shit everywhere. As much as I hated alcohol at that point, I had to have it, so strong it was, I did 31 days in treatment, every day thinking of my next drink. When I got home, I bought some food, 7up, and a handle of vodka. Spent Christmas by myself, drinking it away, wondering why I cant get that joy I used to have from drinking. A good friend brought me an 18 pack because he didnt want me driving. He also told me I was killing myself, my options were clear he said. Die, go back to the hospital and detox, go to jail and detox there, or go back to treatment. A day later he took me back to treatment and today I'm sober. 11 months and some change. Handled divorce sober, the loss of a dog I had for 15 years, my oldest brother had a stroke and is paralyzed on the left side. I have a part time job, good enough for healthcare, not much else... I get by and I will never go back to drinking. My last days of drinking are as fresh to me as smelling fresh cut fruit. Those feelings do not go away for me, and I make sure they dont. No take backs in life. I'm grateful for today, the friends and family I have. I went from agnostic to a man of faith and spirit and I love it all, every minute, every breath. I would not trade this life for the old, the old life, didnt have a future. In meetings, you'll probably hear an old timer say he was given the gift of desperation. Sadly, most of us wait for that gift before we take action.

  22. Ocasio-Cortez-Cortez is a young brown liberal with a vagina. Of course she’s the new conservative super villain. She may prove to suck, but hell, she hasn’t even taken office yet. But beyond that, AOC is an everywoman who managed to unseat a political untouchable. The very embodiment of a goverment by the people for the people. A woman who, against the odds, enforced term limits the old fashioned way. She’s not moneywhipped by special interests, is pugnacious as fuck and not backing down after the opposition has singled her out for attack. She’s a newborn politician who still has a chance. Compare that to Trump, whose man-of-the-people schtick is ludicrous and self-serving. Whose narcissistic self-interests are more tempting and dangerous than any special interest rainmaker. Whose populist uprising had to be nurtured by the Kremlin. Whose ham-handed bungling is superseded only by their criminal malfeasance as a politician. For someone (or a party) all-in on Trump, AOC would be an awfully uncomfortable mirror to look at.

  23. Come on Anastasia, even you can't "both sides" this shit show with a straight face. There are party line votes for political reasons (Obamacare comes to mind)...but this is a whole different ball of orange wax. We've never had an administration this corrupt before. If they won't buck the party line to save the Constitution and our democracy, then they should all be lined against the wall and executed for treason. Period.

  27. she just coolly owned the president. maneuvered him right to where she wanted him to go. "trump shutdown" and "i will proudly shut down the government." congrats, dude, it's no longer the obstructionist democrats to whom you can point. you have to look in the mirror. and then her and schumer's performance just outside the white house further drove the point home. they must have said "trump shutdown" a dozen times. they clearly had a plan and effected that plan. trump, like always, had no plan, deciding instead to play it by ear. he's WAY out of his depth. they are RIGHT OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE CLOWNING YOU, dude. you fucking fool.

  28. I’m seeing concerns about Mehringer’s recruiting pop up in relation to him potentially taking the James Madison job. We are flat out better off when that dipshit finds an exit. I don’t give a single fuck if it impacts a recruitment or two, and you shouldn’t either. Celebrate if that imbecile finds something else to do. And forget about Bru McCoy.

  32. What a weird thing about which to pound one's chest. One would think that this would be viewed as a defeat for conservatives, but I guess not, because it proves the libs wrong? Because Roberts and Kav decided to deny cert, siding with the less conservative side of the court. Suck it libs! Our guy won't take the case in order to rule against you! And you thought he was going to be hyperconservative! Fucking reactionary libs! Pwned!

  33. Salt the fucking earth of the GOP. McConnell - dead. Graham - dead. Rand - dead. RYAN - dead. Sasse gets the Jake Spoon talk before he hangs. Torch it to the fucking ground, Huckabee and Conway live in Argentina and the kids from the barrio throw rocks are their houses. A new conservative party forms but nobody from the old guard escapes and the complete annihilation of the party is cited for a century whenever this shit starts to happen again (on #bothsides). It'll never happen, but that's the dream.

  37. Charles, getting years is easier than getting months - and if you continue to accrue days you'll soon see what I mean by that - I'm way more impressed with 30, 60, 90, 120 days. . . Dewey, thank you for sharing that - damned dusty in here. If ANY of you doubt the miracle of recovery then I offer up exhibit A - Owens Davillier. He started http://thehowcenter.org/ years ago. I'll never forget the first time I met Owens. I was at my 2nd AA meeting ever at the old West End group in Beaumont, and this old black dude was prattling on about being in Angola prison for shooting a man in the face, and how he got released and was on the streets, then got sober. I thought to myself "holy shit, what have I done to myself where I have to hang out like guys like this." I went to my Dad's house and told him about this guy I met and Dad starts grinning and says "the next time you see that guy, you kiss him on the forehead and you tell who you are and that I love him!" "Dad, you actually know this guy?" "Yep, he's been like a brother to me for over 20 years." Later on I learned how he graduated from college and got a Masters degree and then started the HOW center. This man helped THOUSANDS of alcoholics. I've got 4 sponsees living there right now, and the cornerstone of my recovery is sitting in the library with a newcomer on Sunday afternoons reading the Big book and taking them through the steps. Over the years I've known Owens, I've actually taken his suggestions. He was the one that slapped me with a 12 and 12 and said "boy, turn to page 90 and tell me what is says about the Spiritual axiom!" - from that moment on those words were burned into my soul. My friend Owens died this morning in a house fire. https://www.beaumontenterprise.com/news/article/fire-13457037.php#photo-16629469 We're probably going to have to pass the hat to cover his burial expenses, but he's without a doubt the richest man I've ever met where it counts.

  39. I used to think this way; I'd steer completely free of political posts. But I started feeling like a fraud. So, the beginning of the year I decided to start speaking out, loudly, about my opposition to Trump. I also like to call out false narratives. Now, I don't personally attack people for their political stances but I absolutely skewer Trump every chance I get. But I really love wearing my "Anti-Trump AF" t-shirt under my jacket to redneck and biker bars. I like to sit down incognito and wait for the inevitable Trump fellatio conversation to start. Then the jacket comes off and the fun begins. It's weird how much less confrontational they get when they realize I'm one of the "snowflakes" they'd been going internet-tough on.

  40. I guess we are hoping you could figure out a distinction between what Trump is alleged to have done and lying about a blow job. But great 'both sides". One can have a genuine debate about the nature of high crimes and misdemeanors and blow job perjury. The issue is (and was) actually legally murky and subject to genuine debate about the nature of the crime. Nixon had the GOP crossing the lines. Clinton, not so much. But that is less a function of the political side of Congress than it is a function of the different natures of the crimes that were alleged. I tend to think of raw dogging porn star cover up hush money crimes in that same category - I personally do not think it should rise to an impeachable offense. OTOH, obstructing investigations into the illegal Russian attacks on our country's election system (and abetting participants) seems different. To me. But if you see no difference, then "Lock her up!!"
