Came to the emergency room at 10 p.m. with symptoms of meningitis. They did four draws of spinal fluid and all of them contained blood. So then they did cat-scan & found my brain was covered in blood. They're not letting me get up and walk around, which is pissing me off. Just had MRI done at 4 AM. That sucked. I feel fine, and it's not like half my face doesn't work or I'm slurring words while sober. But any stupid posts I make from here on out will be blamed on this.6 points

By philosophy and design, Kirby Smart’s defense is designed to stop the running game first and then the deep ball. It makes perfect sense in a league where the typical style is run, run, deep shot. We’ve discussed the personnel choices he’s made in terms of trading size for speed. But I wanted to look in more detail. I’ve seen Georgia play several times this season but only payed close attention to their SEC CG appearance. No sane person is going to compare Texas to Bama today so I went back and watched some of their other games against the stronger teams on the rest of their schedule. It would be hard to argue that there is higher average talent among the group of Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Missouri and LSU than at Texas so this seems like a reasonable comp. Most of my observations are based on those games. Georgia’s defense usually does an excellent job shutting down the ground game between the tackles. It displays some weakness vs off tackle runs, especially cutbacks outside once the LBs step to fill inside gaps and significant weakness against run game extensions to the perimeter. In pass defense they rarely get beaten deep but often have trouble with intermediate routes, especially off play action and with covering the flats. The 4i-0-4i front is commonly used (both Texas and Georgia do it). It puts 5 defenders (3 DL and 2 ILBs) inside the OTs. That has a distinct tendency to shut down interior running since it commits 3 guys to clog the A gaps. The inside shade on the OT does allow that man to block down on the DE to stop flow to the outside, which helps to explain the soft spot off tackle. It's risky to pull an OG against this front since the 4i DE can just follow the puller to the ball, so a good blocking TE/H-back is very valuable against this front. Against a pure running team like UK, Smart played a lot of 5 man fronts to set the edge, provide backside pursuit and contain but that will be tough to do if he goes nickel against the Horns. Coverage emphasizes mixed looks that usually end up with cover 3 or quarters to stop vertical routes. Good design to stop big plays; not so great against teams that throw a lot of intermediate routes 10-15 yds downfield. Combine a mobile Texas QB with the worst pass rush in the SEC and those safeties are often going to spend a lot of time far downfield with LBs trying to cover the intermediate stuff. Being forced to cover longer gets every level dropping deeper, which helps to explain Georgia’s problems defending the flats. Safties covering Duvernay and CJ deep, LBs trying not to lose LJ dropping 10-12 yds off the LOS. Who does that leave when Beck, Ingram or Watson releases to the flats or a short crossing route? Even without a delayed release, UGa had trouble covering receivers out of the backfield, both RBs and motion WRs. I’ve often been told I am extreme OCD. My sister says I really put the first 4 letters in analyst. But everyone should go with their strengths.2 points

What a terrible fucking take. I thought reading your takes on the merits of cheering for OU was acid to my eyes, and now I see this. So you want less college football and shittier college football games? What is the end game in that vein? Some magical 64 team playoff system that isn't going to happen in our great grandchildrens' lives, much less our own? Right. I realize that you are a fucking NFL honk who basically views college football as some sort of conduit to feeding your precious Cowboys some new wife abusers to cheer for on Sundays. What I don't understand is why in the fuck you spend so much time on a college football board pontificating about as much.2 points

When you are eating BBQ chips, and halfway through the bag you’re interrupted to change a sheot diaper. Even after I wash my hands I wonder if I should lick my fingers after I finish the remainder of the bag. #parentingsux1 point

It's not work, it's a fucking game, played for entertainment of crowds. Would you tell Garth Brooks to just come out and play a guitar in a chair? Players can do whatever fits their personalities, like other entertainers. Barry Sanders and I guess Earl were not celebration guys. Others are, and it's fine, and I'm glad the NFL finally loosened up. That said, the quality and timing of celebrations are open to criticism. I agree it's dumb as fuck to celebrate after tackling a guy after a 20 yard gain, or celebrating when the ref makes a call elsewhere on the field. And some celebrations suck. "Feed me" sucks, I wish he'd come up with something else.1 point

The “feed me” shit is stupid, don’t mind the choregraphed celebrations.1 point

He was a Wishbone halfback out of Hudson, Wisconsin. If I remember correctly, he wasn't heavily recruited out of high school but had an aunt who worked at UT who gave a highlight film to Coach Royal - who DID recruit him. Also, I'm told he didn't know how to block when he first got to UT. Royal said, that's OK, we'll teach him. He threw a key block that helped Ted Koy on a 10 yard run on the play after the Street-Peschel bomb in the Texas-Arkansas game. He scored the tying touchdown himself on the next play. The photo above is a run in the 1970 Arkansas game. We were leading, 14-7 and had just stopped them on a goal line stand after a first down on our 3 yard line. Bill Montgomery got inside the one on 4th down but no more. We then proceeded on a 99 yard TD drive that broke their back. We won, 42-7, the caption is incorrect.1 point

First off, the homestead tax exclusion on the gain is good as long as the house was your homestead for TWO out of the last five years. So if you think the place will appreciate you could rent it and close the sale any time before the 3rd year anniversary of your new homestead and keep ALL the profit tax free. You can use this excluson of profit every two years. If I was young and single I would be moving every couple of years to take the tax free money, moving up again and again. If you are going to keep your current place to rent you might also look at doing a refi to take out your "tax free" gain and put it toward improving the new house or other investments. The advantage here is that your rental house will still hopefully be appreciating in value over time, but your deduction of interest on the note, taxes, depreciation (1/27.5 per year) and any other incurred expenses will likely make you show a paper loss each tax year until you sell. Without a new note you can still deduct the taxes, depreciation and expenses, but the new note would be what will make you show a "loss" as you actully put cash into your pocket. here is a good rental calculator to play with https://www.calculator.net/rental-property-calculator.html?cprice=185000&cuseloan=yes&cdownpayment=30&cinterest=7&cloanterm=15&cothercost=3000&cneedrepair=no&crepaircost=10000&cafterrepairvalue=150000&ctax=4800&ctaxincrease=3&cinsurance=3000&cinsuranceincrease=3&choa=0&choaincrease=3&cmaintenance=1000&cmaintenanceincrease=8&cother=200&cotherincrease=3&crent=3800&crentincrease=3&cotherincome=0&cotherincomeincrease=3&cvacancy=25&cmanagement=0&cknowsellprice=no&cappreciation=3&csellprice=200000&cholding=30&csellcost=3&printit=0&ctype=&x=65&y=23 The calculator does not include depreciation but here's one I found on the internet https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/financial/depreciation-property-realestate.php The math on real estate is mind boggling when the tax treatment is factored in.1 point

As much as I'll catch hell for this, I actually agree with Icono on this one albeit for a slightly different reason. I think the left jumps to race way too quickly as the reason for everything. Now granted, the Trump administration has catered to, and emboldened the racists in this country; and there are a considerable number of people who do view immigration through a racist lens, but I don't think that's the majority. Personally, I think the larger issue is culture. If you look through our history, it's the fear of cultural changes that has been the primary driver for opposition to large immigration movements. First it was Jews, then Germans, then Chinese, then the papist Irish and Italians. In the 70's and 80'st It was the Vietnamese, Iranian, Cuban, and Indian. Now it's Mexican/Latin American and Muslim. But like every other group before, this will be a blip on the radar in 100 years and it will be some other group in the cross hairs. Hell, based on what happened with the Irish, Italians, German, and Jews (outside the neo-Nazi set, anyway), Mexicans and other Latin Americans might be considered white in 100 years.1 point

Went out to eat and then stopped to get ice cream on the way home. I have to use the bathroom before we leave. They only have the one with a lock on the door. I'm inside and there's a knock on the door. I say, "Just a minute." I hear my 5-yr-old son yell thru the door. "Dada? Are you in there? Are you going poop? Does it make your butt hurt?"1 point

Picked up new Porsche I ordered late summer Panamera 4 S e-hybrid Dolomite silver, Black accents Had some of badging deleted Acid green breaks changed to black Painted crest on the 22” wheels 4 zone ac/ 4 heated and cooled seats Touch screen operations in back Chalk interior with brushed alum trim Black carpet, mats Way faster then my ‘16 hybrid Added torque and HP are very noticeable 4 wheel drive really makes up for the weight of the car compared to the real wheel drive version Steering in far superior as well, especially in sport plus mode. Love I get 30 plus miles of full electric. Expect 50-60 mpg city. Only driven 40 miles daily on average Gear selection will take some getting used to. Have to toggle from reverse to drive. Press a button for park This will due till kids get old enough to drive and a 911 makes more logical sense.1 point

It took me way too much time to figure what the hell you were accusing me of, but all I can say is that you really are not very bright. Why would I create an account in March to troll you in December? Oh, by the way, I happen to have an account of the same name on Shaggy, dating back another year to April 2017. Yeah, 80 posts over two years on two different boards just to troll you... you got me! I'm a Sooner sleeper sent from the future to destroy you! Get over yourself.1 point

True. How many of us have said been at the doctor's office and, when he prescribes Gargbonal for your irritable bowel, recommend an alternative based on a TV commercial? "Garbonal? I think not, Dr. Gupta. I think I'll risk the nose hemorrhoids and scrotal scaling and ask for Assjoystatin instead. I saw it on the TV, you know." Doctor Gupta nods, impressed.1 point

Holy shit. Just took my dog for a walk around 5:45AM. Pitch dark out, & I only turn on my headlamp flashlight when I need to pick up her poop so we were pretty stealthy. Come around a dark corner a couple streets from my house to hear a front door slam loudly followed by a man's voice saying "I fucking KNEW she was going to pull this bullshit today" before he climbed into his truck to speed off somewhere. He never saw me or didn't care I was there to witness his outburst (I'm just thankful my dog didn't compound things by taking a growler in his front yard). I was laughing like a fool for the rest of the walk. I sincerely hope it was a poster from here & we're gonna get the rest of the story.1 point

Grill came last night and assembled this morning. Overcooked some burgers on it this afternoon. Planning on smoking a butt tomorrow (... smoking your mom's butt, etc.). Also, picked up some ceramic stones for smoking, indirect cooking, and pizza.1 point

My Plott Hound was a rescue that I got when she was less than a year old. She had been beaten almost to death (maybe because she wasn't a good hunter, ...hopefully he's in hell) and for months after I got her, if you came up to her, she would lay down, cringe and just wait for the beatings. She died a week and a half ago at 13 years old. She was without a doubt the greatest dog that ever walked the earth. She roamed around my farm and in the woods, layed on the porch, and slept at the foot of my bed. She loved all people who came here after being very wary for several years of men. She had one accident in the house the first day she was here, I put her nose in it and said no, and she never had another her entire life. She listened when I told her do something, loved walks to the creek, and laying on her beanbag in the great room. When my wife left a couple of years ago, she didn't dare think of bringing up taking Halle. She had been slowing down and ill all summer and spent quite of bit time at our vets. She hadn't been able to go upstairs for about a month and she died curled up on that beanbag mat about 4 AM last Tuesday. I was glad I got to be with her here at home instead of having to put her down. Rescue pets are the best, and she was my buddy.1 point
