The denouement of all this will be the remaining trump supporters taking a knee during the national anthem to protest how law enforcement treated the Dotard.16 points

And H would be competent. Because she had always been competent, although the epitome of professional poll watching politician with all of the negatives attached to that. And while distasteful, if Hillary were our President we'd be selling soybeans to China and not eroding NATO alliances and not sucking off Putin every other day. And the economy would be doing just fine, but the nation would not be in debt due to a stupid tax bill that gutted decades of feaux GOP fiscal responsibility concerns. All of these are fucking stone cold facts.15 points

For me, this has little to do with the wall at this point. It's about whether it's acceptable to refuse to fund the government because you can't get your pet policy in place. That is unacceptable and cannot be rewarded. It's like when my 3-year old throws a fit to have candy for breakfast. I can't give it to him--even though the candy is not a big deal--but because if I give in, the next time he wants something he'll throw a fit again. This is the exact same. Further, as the Jon Tester speech posted above, or in the shutdown thread said, the Trump administration has not presented a serious border security proposal that analyzes effective means and considers the costs and benefits of various options. They're seeking a symbol so Trump can claim a political victory and reward his base. That's what's so wild, it's not even a legitimate policy he's holding the federal government hostage for.13 points

You have a mental problem with Hillary. You know I don’t have a problem with you personally, but this is a fact. Theres nothing out there that shows Hillary is even close to the shitty person, that trump is. There’s mountains of evidence that trump is just a terrible human being. Hillary>Trump. Unless you’re gullible enough to buy shit like pizzagate. Lulz And when you go into one of your spells just remind yourself trump is the fucking President. Seriously, you sound like a loon barking about that bitch.10 points

I'm a federal employee (forced to work without pay) and live in an area dominated by agriculture. These past couple of weeks have been eyeopening for me. People who I thought were good friends have shown me their true selves with this shutdown. Granted, I know I live right in the middle of Trump country, but never would I have imagined people I've known for two decades, whom I've shared meals with in their home and in mine, whom my wife and I have donated money, groceries and supplies to when they've hit hard times, or were isolated from their homes due to the Milk River flooding them out.....they have completely flipped and actually happy about this situation. And I dont wish this on anyone, but situations like the people in the article above are what its going to take to break this insanity. Farmers and ranchers are going to have to miss their ag welfare (farm subsidies, CRP payments, etc) before they turn on this hack.10 points

I’ve posted a few times over the last few years. I’m an Al-Anon and this week I got to truly feel and see the power of the third step. Last week my brother who is out on bail for an assault and then 3 months later his 3rd DWI missed one of his court dates and had a warrant issued. My mother who is the ultimate enabler went behind my back and helped him out again. This time instead of blowing a gasket I called her therapist and set up a meeting for the 3 of us. After rehashing the last few years of him blowing his inheritance, “borrowing” way too much money and all the legal problems and divorce shes paid for Mom decided it was time to finally disassociate with love. She while sobbing and crying sent him a text telling him that she loved him but he can’t stay at her house and she could not give him anymore money. As we were leaving the therapists office she was an absolute mess and just wanted to go home. About halfway home she looked at me and said the traffic is bad and we should stop an have an early dinner. So we pull into a restaurant that I’ve gone to since I was in a kid. When we get there at about 4:30 the place was empty. Also about the time we get there my brother responds to her text “I’m trying to get sober and now I’m homeless”? She lost it in the restaurant. As she was crying a woman who was at my parents wedding and also my best friends mom walked into the restaurant to return some catering dishes and saw us. Came over to say hi and asked as nicely as she could if we were alright. I said it had been a bad and gave a quick overview of the day. The friend is also an Al-Anon. She reassured Mom that she was doing the right thing and that if she had things to do over she would have done what my mom just did. She and her husband lost their 45 y/o daughter to alcoholism. A few minutes later my YMCA basketball coaches wife walks in. She is also an Al-anon and tells the story of losing her youngest to drugs. Finally about 10 minuets later my 4th grade teacher and her husband comes in to have dinner. See all of us and says hi. Come to find out there youngest who I went to HS with has lived on the streets for 3 years and they are also Al-Anons. Everyone at the table assures my Mom she’s doing the right thing. I truly believe a higher power wanted us at that restaurant at that exact moment in time. Yesterday I get a call from a sober house in SA telling me I am my brother emergency contact and that after a few days of living on the street my he checked himself in to get help. I guess it’s a start. For those of you who commented on my last post a few weeks ago. Thanks those words helped and my brother did not come to my house for Christmas.9 points

Our old babysitter ran track at Texas at that time so she knew a ton of football players. She was hanging out with friends and Gideon was there. She said he was a pretty entitled dick. He barked an order for her to throw him a bottle of water. She grabbed one and said “I better walk it over, you may drop it.” This wasn’t a week after the drop.8 points

I started to respond to @Kyrie Eleison in another thread where he was talking up Joe Burrow. Before realizing it, I'd done a complete statistical comparison to Sam. 🤣 Despite my best intentions to wait for the fall to do a writeup gonna leave it here instead of sitting on it for 7 months. Significant difference are highlighted. Sam Ehlinger (Joe Burrow) 3,292 yds (2,894) -398 yds 64.7% completions (57.8%) -6.9% 7.7 yds PA (7.6 YPA) -0.1 25 TDs (16) -9 TDs 5.9% TD ratio (4.2%) -1.7% TD ratio 6 INTs (5) -1 INT 1.41% INT ratio (1.32%) -0.09% INT ratio 26 sacks (35) +9 sacks 5.76% sack ratio (8.46%) +2.70% sack ratio 146.8 QBR (133.2) -13.6 QBR 678 rushing yds (589) -89 yds - sacks excluded 4.9 YPC (6.3) +1.4 YPC 16 rush TDs (7) -9 TDs Burrow has no significant advantage over Sam in any passing category. Sam has large advantages in completion percentage, passing TDs, TD ratio, sacks, sack ratio and QBR. Burrow has a better per carry average running the ball. this is offset by Sam's greater scoring ability and bigger threat in short yardage generally. In most passing stats, Burrow is below average even in the SEC - which we've seen doesn't really challenge QBs to make tough reads. He's #12 of 14 in pass efficiency, #8 in YPA, #11 in completion % and #10 in TDs passing. Joe Burrow does 2 things very well: ball security and situational running. Outside of that, he's quite average. Burrow is a gritty dual-threat guy who's enough of a passer you can't totally load up against the run. Unlike Jake Fromm, he's mobile and doesn't lose a lot of accuracy when forced to throw in the move. Joe Burrow is a good fit for LSU's offense but he's no Sam Ehlinger.7 points

I’ll say it again, anyone who thinks Trump was/is a better choice than Hillary is either stupid, ignorant, or racist. Likely some combination of the three. It needs no more analysis than that.7 points

I don’t get it. It feels like the same thing during Obama’s tenure when there infinite small flaws/scandals/made up events that were used to classify him as some absolutely horrible divisive person. In my mind it felt like closeted borderline racism, and now with Trump in office and hate crimes rising it certainly seems I was at least partially right. Hillary certainly isn’t my favorite political person but I feel like a lot of small things or blatantly false things are used the same way...to justify her as an absolutely horrible person. I can only conclude it’s, at least partially, just misogyny. For a horrible person, go read about Mitch...when even your wiki page is 75% cited to articles about the way you’ve gridlocked government then you’re probably a bar person. But OnBoard takes it to another level here.5 points

I’m quickly losing support for Cornyn. As someone who had a Beto sign in his yard, largely because I think Cruz is a spineless coward and complete embarrassment to our state, I’ve always felt Cornyn was at least there to represent Texans the best he could. But this wall shit...this is not something Texans want or need. I can forgive a lot of partisan BS, but Wall is bad for Texans, he knows it’s a political stunt, and he’s still going along with it. If he doesn’t change his tune quickly and decisively, I don’t know if I can continue thinking he’s still representing Texas.5 points

I am so pumped for this game. I grew up in LA and lived and died with the Rams, but we moved to Texas in '79 and I became a Cowboys fan as well. Still rooted for the Rams, but that ended when they went to St. Louis. Well, now that they're back in LA (and often wearing those glorious '70s-'80s uniforms), I can't help but root for them again. I'll be pulling for Dallas tonight, but the whole idea of Rams-Cowboys in the playoffs IN THE L.A. MEMORIAL COLISEUM is just too much for my brain to process...5 points
