This is a great perception versus reality post. I don't come into CR often, but I'm guessing that I could rewind 8 years and find the same post from conservatives about Obama's 2nd term. I'd ask what has actually changed that makes things so bad? I see the the liberals on my facebook feed moaning like the world will end tomorrow, but I can still get good health insurance the same way I always did (through work), my job hasn't changed and my industry is healthy and growing, we're not in any more wars than under the last administration and arguably moving toward less. My taxes might have changed a little bit hard to notice, you can still get all the abortions you want, illegal aliens can easily come to the U.S. and stay as long as they want, and racial disharmony still exists like is has for decades and centuries. There is still no wall. Yeah, America elected an idiot to the Oval. He says a lot of stupid shit. But thanks to the miracle of our system of government, he can't get anything done, so his impact is muted - so aside from the people who are predisposed to thinking the other side is horrible and listening to the harpies on TV and twitter yelling all day, I don't see much real life impact that would cause someone to leave. Imagined impact, sure. Potential future like maybe if Trump magically got everything he wanted and the US turned into dystopia...uhh, I guess, but that's pretty unlikely. Unless you're trying to just exit the whole us vs. them shouting match by going to Norway where there is leftist hegemony? I found it easier to just stop reading facebook as much.30 points

The big news: A coup has occurred in North Houston. Footwork King has been deposed. He is now just a regular old Footwork Man. The new Footwork King was the leader of the Tomball Junta, and his tribal colors are rumored to be burnt orange and white. More to come. Don't @ me.17 points

It's absolutely complex. IT'S THOUSANDS OF MILES LONG. No one has looked at any of the relevant issues. What is the effect of reducing the workforce by 100,000 low-wage people a year? We don't know. Wait, did I say 100,000? Because we have no idea what the number is. What is the cost of taking 450 family ranches from their owners? We don't know. (Caveat, I just made up the number 450 because no one has bothered to look into the actual issue.) What alternatives would people seeking to come in take? What percent would actually be prevented from entering? Have we balanced that against the cost? Hold on. Aren't there already physical barriers in high population areas? So we are only talking about preventing people from entering that are just driving over cactus and mesas 100 miles from Precidio? How many people is that -- 100 a year? How much reduction in drug importation would happen? It seems to me that when there is demand for the product -- and we are certainly not doing anything about demand -- "nature . . . finds a way" /jeff goldblum What would be the reduction in crime? What would be the reduction in nurses, teachers, house builders, nannies? It's what absolutely wears me out about this. If Trump came out and said "Look, we've talked to the NSA, CIA, etc., and they say there is a 20% chance of significant terrorist threat across our border in the next 5 years. We've talked to economists and balanced the reduced sales tax revenues, work force, lower wages against free medical care etc. We've talked to environmentalists about the inability of animals to roam, water runoff issues, and they are fine with it. We've made 3 state task forces to deal with the individual property owners" blah blah blah, I might be on board. But it is the Republican's insistence that knowledge is for NERDS, we don't need to think about anything, that makes me reflexively against it.15 points

Here's how things get fucked up by $9.95ers: 1) They all wrongly continue to operate under the impression that being first with a scoop matters. It doesn't. 2) They all fail to understand the failures in their personality make-ups and behaviors that landed them in the position of doing this kind of work for a sad living chasing 16-20 year old boys. 3) They then, given the blindness of their own frailty, fail to see the same flaws in $9.95ers for other schools, and project a positive image onto those other folks, and trust them frequently when they shouldn't. As a result, information is exchanged. 4) Schools use $9.95ers for info and as mouthpieces. Herman's not big into the latter, dabbles in the former. Other schools use them more aggressively. Some schools, like Oregon, literally have an agent covering their team, working for both 24/7 and a sports group. Schools like Clemson and USC have fucking bagmen working for them as $9.95ers. USC literally got busted for this with Steele this year. 5) Texas $9.95ers discover something from a parent, player or handler, calling and asking a question or texting hints, or outright laying out their thoughts. $9.95er, moron that he is, thinks "holy shit, a scoop!! it's a scoop!! I'm important and my sycophantic member base is about to love me!!!!". So they start fucking hinting around that they know something. 6) Burton and Ketchum are then woken up from late morning naps and told "hey, person at IT/TFB/wherever the fuck is talking about knowing something we don't". They shout "get on it" to the Anwars and FCBs of the world. 7) Notes are compared or hints are made. 8 ) One of these rubes calls the other school's $9.95ers to compare notes. That $9.95er, with different intentions if the issue is big, gets in contact with their program to ingratiate themselves further or get paid outright for the intel. 9) Program goes to recruit/athlete/parent/handler and actively begins a diffusion campaign from decommitting/transferring/whatever the fuck. 10) Recruit/athlete/parent/handler gets cold feet and nothing happens further. 11) You naive fucks and the $9.95er sycophants then declare that nothing was there in the first place and go on about your business, thinking it was all a big to-do over nothing. It's rare for someone, even FCB, to so overtly fuck up a recruitment the way he did with Bonnito last year. Steps 1-11 are how it normally works. Damage control has already begun elsewhere, so barring some real resolve tomorrow, light your cigarettes, fellas, because you've already been fucked. As to anyone trying to dissect validity of matters around concepts like enrollment, cause for disengaging from an LOI, signing an LOI, etc., good lawyers make good claims and an org like the NCAA is a fucking coward in the face of that. If you haven't seen enough of that to believe it, that's on you to figure out.14 points

You aren't going anywhere. This thread is pathetic and you should feel bad. Trump could shred the constitution and become a dictator for life, and you'd still be going to Whataburger on Thursdays and visiting the Genius Bar when your iPhone fucks up. Eleventy billion people said the same stupid shit when Obama won, and they all stayed.11 points

What exactly is the problem we are trying to solve? As has been stated and you have ignored, immigrants from our Southern border are a net positive for our economy. Why is this a crisis all of the sudden? Most illegals are here on overstayed visas, most drugs are coming through ports of entry, and there are more suspected terrorists coming over our border with Canada. What problem is the wall solving that should be prioritized over all of the other problems we face as a country?10 points

LOL @ these Trump supporters that wanna turn on him now. WTF did you expect, you stupid motherfuckers? This is exactly who you supported. He fucked over any group he could and you were fine with it, but after missing a couple paychecks, you pieces of shit decide you've had enough? LOL Fuck all of you.10 points

Let's be clear here - none of us have an economic incentive to do anything other than be patient and potentially elated. You have distractions including the new composite rankings and aggies then hating us more than they like themselves, and all that that entails. That considered, TFB is economically incented. That's a problem. This gets fucked, it's on them sprinting out to run their mouths and potentially causing all kinds of other shit to spill out/crossover. Even if we wind up winning here, they're not doing anyone any favors. So there is no CTJ vs Bazier anything. He can say whatever the fuck he wants, and I will continue to be correct and justified with my position, and that you guys should understand.9 points

My wife left a PTA meeting the other day and checked Facebook a little after she got home. One of her PTA friends had apparently been followed by a suspicious vehicle on her drive back home, so she drove to the police station. Wife: Did you see the FB post on the neighborhood page? Luke Duke: Yes. Wife: Can you check our security cameras to be if he followed me too? Luke: You want me to check to see if the same person followed two different people to two different places at the same time? Wife: Tone9 points

I'm not a math guy, but thankfully excel makes life easy. So lets just go ahead and blow this fucking bullshit about eyeballs in the Big 12 vs. the SEC right out of the fucking water. Or at the very least, lets go ahead and examine the general drawing power of our program versus their program, regardless of network. First, lets go ahead and get my source of this information out of the way: http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-football-tv-ratings/ Total # of Viewers for the entire 2018 season, including championship games and bowls (all #s in Millions, including streaming where reported): Texas: 54.401 aTm: 27.081 Total # of regular Season viewers, removing bowl games and championship games: Texas: 30.804 aTm: 21.939 Average Viewers Per Game: Texas: 4.185 aTm: 3.009 Average Viewers Per Game Removing CCGs and Bowls: Texas: 2.8 aTm: 2.74 So by EVERY fucking metric, be it total viewers, average viewers, removing CCGs (Because aTm sucks and played in none) as well as bowl viewing (because aTm played in a shittier one with less appeal) Texas comes out ahead. Fuck, if you want to grab the aTm narrative of shitty TV contracts, and shitty networks, and shitty start times, hell, we whipped their ass despite an overwhelming handicap. So fuck them. And it gets even more interesting. That webpage, only listed 8 regular season televised games, versus 10 for UT. Now, is that because aTm plays 2 fucking pathetic non P5 out of conference games? Of course it fucking does, and of course that's fucking why. Games against Nichols St and the Northwestern State Gaping Pussies weren't listed. So while that might have brought their totals down a bit, it sure as mother fuck would have brought their average viewers per game down even fucking more. Other fun facts: 13.3 million folks watched the Sugar Bowl, 10.3 million watched the B12 title game. aTm's highest viewed game of the season? Alabama at 5.65 million. Their second is the Gator Bowl at 5.142 million. Clemson was 4.48. aTm vs alabama did beat the Red River Shootout 5.65 to 5.08, but one was a noon game and the other was mid day. I'll let you guess which was which, and who the primary driver of of eyeballs was in that game. In short, either no one wants to watch aTm as much as Texas, or no one can find them on TV as easily as Texas. Pick one. Actually, fuck it, the answer is both and everyone but those dunderheads knows the truth.9 points

My favorite part of this thread in a while is when @closetojumping completely made me rethink my very high opinion of the $9.95ers and made me realize that they are actually selfishly motivated. Now I can just stop thinking I should be sending them $9.95 each month (instead of reading it here for free) and this problem will not occur in the future. I’ve realized that I’m actually part of the problem, if not the entire problem.8 points

Impossible to say since we can't read his mind. All we have to go off of are decades of his words and actions. Based on that scant amount of data, there's just no telling. It is truly one of life's great mysteries.8 points

Well, part of the deal for him transferring to Texas is that we’re going to use our influence over ratings to make him the first ever composite 6 star recruit. Aggies may want to stay away from the internet tomorrow...7 points

Yeah, soooooo, about that “transfer portal doesn’t matter “ and “$9.95ers wouldn’t fuck this up” stuff. Right.7 points

So here is how this went down. Bru had a meeting with Helton scheduled for today to inform him of his intentions to transfer. This is what had the 995ers tripping over each other to blow their wad. Bru meets with Helton who gives him something to think about and says sleep on it and if you want to leave tomorrow then you are free to. So Bru out of respect of his coach accepts the proposal and now we are all in a limbo until tomorrow. This is pure conjecture but I will dip my dong in South Austins mom's butt if it is true.7 points

This is not correct. The school the player is currently signed with is the one who puts their name in the portal, not the player. It is the schools compliance officer or "other authorized athletics administrator". They can no longer block his request, but they have to know and are the ones who actual put him in the portal. They must put your name in the portal within 2 business days of the request. My guess is he has requested to be added... USC is using the full 2 days to discuss7 points

So then just tell us what the fuck it supposedly is...if a deal can fall through over some shitty, cryptic tweet and a 6.99 guy saying some major may be happening, then it must have been some bullshit that wasn't going to happen regardless.7 points

You said a lot of words, but your first sentence shows that you're still missing the point. Let's skip your clumsy analogies and get to the point: over decades we have set up an economy in border states and perhaps beyond that relies on illegal labor, and in turn, welcomes and even financially encourages illegal immigration. And then on the other hand we have politicians looking to demonize them all as criminals for cheap political points. Do you see the point being missed? That, in a nutshell, is the complexity of the issue. I don't understand how any person of any reasonable intelligence could fail to see the social, economic, political, and legal complexities in this issue. "Wall!" is not the solution. "Wall, just try it, what can it hurt?" is just a colossal jerk off session. It's beyond time that we face the truth and realize we need a lower-skill guest worker program to do all the shitty labor we haven't done as Americans for the last 6 decades.7 points
