hugo and dennison do not have IP overlaps, and have distinct geographical IP differences. yall can stop with this stupidity now, or i'll start handing out more vacations. and i'll add on a personal note: i can understand that hugo gets on people's nerves, but i have no reason to think he's not a genuine person. he's got a history all the way back to the old site, and we know he's an lsu fan who had a distinct identity on lsu and sec boards. he is who he says he is. you don't have to like him, but making shit up about him is getting old.13 points

I’ve told stories of these guitars before but I don’t think I’ve ever posted them. Real relic: 68 CAR Tele: My dad bought that one when he switched from primarily R&B/Rock to Country. He said he felt forced to do it because the Tele was the sound of Country but the Strat was a far better guitar. 59 Strat: My dad played that Strat 5 days a week, 4 hours a night back in the 60s. Very hard look to replicate well. He bought it used (virtually new) from a pawn shop in Lubbock in 1961.9 points

The ones that came on in the 60s/70s were mostly retiring out before the Shuttle Program (and our own ability to launch humans) was ended without a funded follow-on program. It's the ones that came on in the 80s/90s that were dumped, unceremoniously, when Atlantis came to "Wheels Stop" on STS-135. There are a few, including some of my old colleagues, who are still there and more than capable of doing this -- but yes, it's the loss of institutional knowledge (even if it's been documented) and perhaps the ability to train of the next generation of Manned Spaceflight Flight Controllers that may be lost forever. It will require YEARS to really build that back. "Flying in circles" with ISS has not done the MCC teams any favors. When you're in a dynamic phase or doing something you've never done before requires a completely different set of skills and experience. There's a lot of emergency thinking and reaction skills that have been lost... or at least dulled. I've been critical of the SpaceX teams for taking too lax an attitude in their "MCC". Once they start flying *people*, a different and more focused approach is going to be required, or people will die (i.e., NO FUCKING GLASS FISHBOWL AND FAWNING/CHEERING FANBOY AUDIENCE). While I love the idea of a nationally-focused Manned Spaceflight Exploration Plan™, the phrase "Urgency must be our watchword," goes against EVERYTHING in the Flight Controller's Creed: Pay special attention to #2... "ultimate consequences" means something. Nowhere in that Creed is the phrase "go faster" found. In fact, the opposite ("taking a stand when we must") is one of the most vital phrases (and one of the failures in both the Challenger and Columbia accidents). Getting "GO FEVER" will result in people being killed. And that could be the end of the US Manned Space Program.8 points

I'm interested to see if the Mueller Report offers an opinion on whether Trump is compromised in some way by Russia. I've never believed there was some coordinated conspiracy within the Trump campaign to collude with the Russians, because they aren't competent enough to pull something like that off without everyone already knowing about it. I believe that Trump's obstruction into the investigation had much more to do with him being compromised by Russia, most likely with his business interests and money laundering.8 points

the classic move of taking a screenshot of his wallpaper (incl all the folders and exe files), making that screenshot his wallpaper, and then moving all the exe files and folders off the main screen into the virtual larger screen still works for a lot of people. nothing funnier than watching a guy pound the mouse click button on exe or file folder that is actually just a screenshot, and watching them lose their shit.7 points

So the same man who said years ago that he would release his tax returns and evidence that Obama was born in Kenya, said he's going to release the Mueller report, and last week made up fake sanctions on North Korea to justify a tweet cancelling Korean sanctions. And you believe his statement, why?6 points

Those are safely stored away now. His main gigging instrument (and he still plays out at least one a week) is this ‘57 Hot Rod Strat. It really suits him as it has the look of a vintage Strat (which he has bonded with, understandably) but it has modern (shhh! Don’t tell him!) radius and other appointments. He thinks it’s better than the 59. That may be a bit much, but it is a very good Strat:6 points

I weighed in today at 308, down 62 pounds since Nov 12th. 8 more lbs to go to hit a major milestone. I'm hoping to hit that in the 2nd week of April.5 points

Here's the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home. Jesus Christ, Luke 16:9 Here's the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home. That is, of course, provided rules and regulations related to the taxability of said benefits afforded others aren’t interpreted to lead to potential adverse financial implications to the recipient or limit the deductibility of the donor. In such circumstances the donor, however, should publicly declare willingness to make said resources available for the benefit of others. Jesus Chrisp, Surly 12:8025 points

Since the first moon landing, the moon has gotten 200 centimeters (78 inches, or a little over 6 1/2 feet) farther from Earth. I'm sorry, but we just don't have the technology to make up that gap.5 points

It’s a big problem I have with the democrats. They think they’re playing 3-D chess and never realize their opponent is a cold blooded psychopathic killer that doesn’t acknowledge “rules”. The democrats overthinking shit is a big reason Trump won IMO. Obama and Biden not putting Russia’s shit on blast during the election is a great example of them getting bullied into a corner by Trump and the Republicans. Trump running around saying everything was rigged and the Russia stuff was fake went completely unchallenged by the White House. Hillary was left to fend for herself against Putin and Trump which made her look like a nutty conspiracy theorist. Sometimes the democrats need to say “fuck the bullshit” and go hard to the paint on the obstacle standing right in front of them when they’re morally obligated.5 points

Of course people declined to vote. Turnout is always higher in swing states than in decided states. That also has a massive negative effect on downstream races. People certainly need to understand that municipal, county, and state races matter even if the Presidential race is already decided in their state. We have exactly one office in our nation that represents every single one of us. But it doesn't really represent us equally. You and I count for about 1/2 of a Wyomingan. A Californian is worth even less than us. Maybe you're happy with a Wyomingan having more say than you when it comes to sending our troops off to die in foreign lands, or implementing trade wars which negatively effect your local economy. I'm not.5 points

False. Crimes occcured. The Mueller Special Counsel resulted in 30+ indictments, guilty pleas, and convictions. The president's campaign manager is going to prison, the president's National Security Advisor is going to prison, and the president's personal lawyer/deputy RNC finance chair are going to prison. There are still sealed indictments yet to be resolved, cases farmed out to federal courts yet to be resolved, state cases yet to be resolved, and ongoing House and Senate investigations. What happened 2 days ago is the head of the DOJ which currently has a policy that a sitting president can't be indicted, reported that there will be no additional indictments and that the president is not exonerated. I think the vast majority of us on here enjoy thinking about, discussing and learning about the topics from each of the various threads. Unfortunately, with today's political discourse resembling an argument between Cartman and Beavis and Butthead, those of us with reactionary attitudes towards civility are found wanting. SO, in order to mitigate the unpleasantness on the majority of the threads. Let's keep all of the personal attacks here. It can be cathartic. Somebody being racist. Bring it over here. Bigot. Here. Snowflake, rip em a new one below. Libtard. Repubtard. Safe space seeker. Anti-semitic. Xenophobe. Homophobe. Aggie. Let em' have it. Show them whose the boss! That'll get em! Just keep it over here. Spare us having to scroll through 2 pages of "you're a racist""well you're a snowflake" bullshit before get an actual post about the topic on hand. Thanks in advance you racist snowflakes.4 points

It's been #1 on my bucket list for as long as I can remember and it looks like I may have talked my way into a pair of tickets for the weekend. I'm looking at flying into ATL, renting a car, and driving the 2-3 hours to Augusta. Of course hotels are slim pickings so AirBnB will probably be the way I go. For those that have been, what should I know?4 points

The problem with partisan idiots... ‘ITS OVER. NO. STOP TALKING. COMPLETELY INNOCENT.’ To a simpleton that’s a reasonable way to look at this. Anyone with a brain realizes there’s a ton of gray area between enough evidence to convict ie ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ vs zero evidence and completely innocent. But the bozos on the far left and far right have taken the country hostage.4 points

It's not that baffling. He has 2 goals while President. Enrich himself and undo anything with Obama's name on it. He doesn't give a single fuck about healthcare generally, and cares even less about Americans who may be hurt by his nonsense. He is going to undo Obamacare because it's Obamacare.4 points

So Biscuit got himself fed a bit too many table scraps in the last week as we've had a lot of company come see the new baby - He got himself a nice little bacterial infestation of his guts and had to go on some probiotics, anti-diarrheal, and antibiotics to whether the shitstorm that came about the last couple days... I'm posting this because it's 2:30am and I think I may have to evacuate the house. He has unleashed a fart that may rewrite some laws of chemistry. This dog weighs 12 lbs. He could've won the Battle of Verdun with this thing.4 points
