  1. Update on my uncle who was on the ventilator earlier this week. Today he’s off the ventilator and breathing on his own. We’re pretty stunned. Dude is 83 with cancer and is telling Covid “fuck yo couch!”

  3. I think, at least in part, the 'safer' narrative is being driven by the 9.95'er articles talking about Casey's proclivity to check-down as opposed to Hudson Card's steely nerve and desire to survey the whole field before firing a laser-guided rocket from his shoulder mounted football cannon into the waiting arms of a receiver (who trusts Card and only Card) 82 yards downfield..

  4. Remember when you essentially stopped these updates due to lack of activity? Horse Paste Farms remembers… What a mess. My family has been having a wild week, my wife working 14 hour days for 6 days now trying to get a new school ready for an open house on Monday…and I’m burning myself out trying to juggle my 4/7yo kids + work + everything else needed to keep the house in some semblance of order. 1/3rd of this country has consistently been able to hold the rest of us hostage, and I’m tired of it. So now, for my family, what shoulda been the culmination of endless planning and stress (opening the new school) will just be the beginning as we see how badly Delta hammers teachers and students. And I’ve got a good job with lots of flexibility, no idea how people living in the edge of their means manage all this.

  5. And give time for Therapeutics to be developed. People keep approaching this as an all or nothing debate. It's not. Things were never fully shut down nor were people going to voluntarily go wide open. As things open up cases go up, hospitals fill up and Some people go back to distancing and masks mandate or not. We've learned a lot. Planes appear to be less risky than we thought, bars are no bueno. Unfortunately many people just don't do nuance. "my brother wore and mask and got it, so mask don't work, in fact they infect." "vaccines aren't 100% effective so they are worthless". "They said it barely affected kids, now it do, what's a variant??" We are fucking the same chicken 18 months later. We should be hitting this with every tool we can and we are not. We should be running PSAs, targeting communities of color, utilizing faith groups etc. Allowing virtual learning when outbreaks happen. Instead we are politicizing non political things like masks and vaccines. Two years ago 40 % of the country was not refusing to submit proof of vaccinations to get kids in school. Shit is really going off the rails here.

  6. Seems like a lot of posters here would prefer their first year coach to talk about how some position groups are better than ones that he won a national championship with.

  8. Maybe we shouldn't use American taxpayer money to fund Chinese scientists to go stick q-tips up bat's asses in caves with no oversight and bring all there samples back to labs with lax safety procedures surrounded by major population centers. Just maybe. If that's too political for you, you have brain damage.

  9. Already have a closet full of Burnt Orange shirts… some not so burnt. cleaned out the cabinet over the fridge where all these glasses have been sitting for 26 years. Sets from 1962, 1963, 1965, 2004, 2005. The 3 unopened cans of Buckhorn beer were my Mom’s leftovers from 1992. RIP Mom.

  10. That was the shot. This is the chaser......(watch til the end, you won't regret it.) Super busy with life, but y'all stay safe out there and to all the health professionals--thank you.

  11. at this point, hospitals should just stack any unvaxxed showing up with covid in a giant tent and let them die. Then when the tent is full of dead bodies, burn it. I have zero fucking pity or empathy for any of these stupid mother fuckers.

  15. Fun trauma babe fact: I was two weeks away from enrolling at OU before Texas finally sent me my acceptance letter. Thank God. I'd probably be dead if I'd gone to Norman.

  16. I have seen enough fall camps to know with certainty that the story of scrimmage #2 will be “the offense really struck back today...”.

  17. Yes, it is. They continue to obstruct the investigation. They orchestrated a cover-up of not just origin, but severity in their own country. Only 4,000 dead? Yeah right. They can get fucked.

  18. Yep. I definitely hung up a “Mission Accomplished” banner on this shit. I regret having forgotten George Carlin’s maxim around how dumb the average American is. Sucks you and your wife are struggling. I listened to a speaker on NPR yesterday talking about how Covid is basically on a repeat cycle of “the 7 stages of grief” I am definitely in the fucking anger stage now.

  19. Finally read this thread. Had stayed away because I’d gotten sick of drinking the koolaid every year for the past several years only to watch shitty coaching screw up what should have been solid years. Objectively, this team should be very good. The biggest question marks are OL and QB. QB should be okay. We just need to see it on the field. OL is another matter. We have serious depth questions at RT, and we don’t have championship quality OL starting anywhere on the OL, although we do have good quality in spots. WR was a mystery to me last year. We had talent but it just didn’t perform. Same story this year. Will it perform? The entire defense should be great. We have talent and coaching. This will be the best defense we’ve had in ten years. The coaching staff should be much better than last year’s staff, but mistakes on the recruiting front in the last month or does raise a few questions. I’m going to assume the coaching will be solid. 11-1 is possible; 10-2 means we have a solid coaching staff and talent; 9-3 is possible and I wouldn’t panic about our staff: 8-4 or worse and we should all just give up and focus on other things in life. My view? 10-2.

  20. Do you realize how stupid this is? You really think thousands of infectious disease specialists and critical care specialists are A) too stupid to tell that ivermectin is an obvious adequate alternative to the vaccine or B) in on a vast conspiracy with Big Pharma to suppress the truth that ivermectin is an adequate alternative to the vaccine? You’re either a liar or a moron

  21. What the fuck is this shit? Guests here? Nah. If you’re an aggy spreading your dumb shit on a Texas board, fuck you, fuck your wife, fuck your mom, fuck your dog, fuck your shitty college town, fuck your cheating football coach, fuck your unattractive women, fuck your gay-ass male cheerleaders, fuck your dead-end job, and go fuck yourself and get the fuck out of here. I’m talking to you, PHL.

  22. Ill say this, i didn't leave smiling. It wasnt just two pics by Casey but two unexcuseable picks by Casey. I was surprised how much work we need on offense. Card looked more relaxed. Defense is better than I anticipated. I am pleased Sark didn't sugar coat it. We need work.

  26. So, I was tested earlier today. Woke up in the night with a sore back/some mild discomfort in breathing which I still have (I honestly have no idea why). Around 9 am, thought maybe I oughta get this checked out, so went to an urgent care place in town. Did the nasal swab and drew blood. Negative on the nasal swab, but my white blood cell counts were higher than they should be, and the blood draw showed covid antibodies from my vaccination (second shot of Moderna almost 6 months ago), so I have a script for some antibiotic. The nurse and I were chatting and I asked her how many tests they are doing a day. She just said that so many are coming in wanting a test that the staff are assuming everyone is coming into the place is needing one, and are surprised if someone has any other medical need. She did tell me something positive; that people are coming in wanting a test out of caution (or fear) and if they are negative and not vaxxed prior, they go ahead and get a shot right then.

  27. No, we were on our way to beating it if people kept getting vaccinated. Probably would've worked if 40%+ of the population weren't morons who believe YouTube clips and Facebook posts over scientists.

  28. i can only speak for myself, but i've bounced around these boards for 13 years primarily because of the music forum, and the recruiting insights that posters like spider2ybanana and tex pete bring that frankly can't be found anywhere else.

  30. I wish I had words that could make it any better, or take away any of the trauma and pain you are going through. It kills me that y'all have to bear so much pain, when all you ever wanted to do was help people. Anyone who has been in a hospital, or had a relative in one, knows y'all are the glue that holds that place together and the only human thing about the hospital experience for many patients. You don't deserve this and must feel incredibly betrayed by society. It's shameful that y'all are being subjected to so much unnecessary abuse and trauma. The only thing I can tell you is, you're not alone. PTSD feels like you are, but you aren't. Never forget that, no matter how low you get. You matter to us. We are proud of you. We are grateful. Fuck the haters, you're a rock star.

  31. Listening to Sark’s media availability you get an entirely different context on the QB play than reading one tweet. Anyone freaking out over that one line without the rest of the interview deserves the anxiety they bring on themselves.

  33. THEY DON'T HAVE LABELS. SOMETIMES IT'S JUST A PLATE OF COOKIES. YOU INNOCENTLY PICK ONE UP AND SAY "OH, WOW, THIS LOOKS LIKE A DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE. YOU EXPERIENCE HAPPINESS, ALMOST EUPHORIA AS YOU LIFT THE COOKIE TO YOUR MOUTH. YOU BITE INTO THIS UNLABELED IMPOSTER AND EVERYTHING IS FINE FOR A MOMENT. THEN YOU REALIZE . . . SOMETHING'S WRONG. THERE'S NO SWEET TASTE OF CHOCOLATE, ONLY THE SQUISHINESS OF . . . FUCKING RAISINS.
