I have no idea how this will be received, but I’m personally ready to forever forget. I understand the magnitude of the event. That nearly 3,000 Americans died. The tragedy, sacrifice and heroism on that day. I watched it live and remember the visceral impact that I and every American felt when watching the towers fall. But hanging on to 9/11 is not good for us. We’ve let Osama Bin Laden and 19 other terrorists control our psyche and cloud our judgment for 20 years now. Decisions made in the aftermath set off a chain of events that have led us to being in a much worse position in the world, and incredibly unstable internally. So much so that we can muster absolutely none of the unity and resolve seen after 9/11 in the face of a pandemic that has killed 658,000+ Americans! So as I see everyone posting their 9/11 memes, tributes and remembrances, all in some way imploring me to never forget, I’ll mostly be thinking this: America will be better off when the last person to have seen the towers fall has died.21 points

I don’t give a shit if someone gives or doesn’t. Until this moment, Duck. But your repeated comments about “shitty” SEZ seats and wasting money on the program because it’s not spent in a way YOU think is good, is beyond stupid and deserves to be roundly mocked. And when you add in you don’t spend shit yourself, well, yeah it should be met with disdain and contempt. As for the seats, you don’t have any concept of my motivations or return on investment are with those seats. My preferred method of watching college ball is a sports bar with my buddies with some talent to eyeball, or at a house with booze and food, and specifically in a climate controlled setting. But you know what, I had an opportunity to invest in UT, and take my son and my wife to games so we can have that experience as a family and make memories for years to come. So I did it. And I’ve been real happy with the experience so far. As for the NIL, a couple things. 1) The capital donation contract I had to sign to commit to the SEZ was literally 3 years ago, before the NIL was even a thing. So your entire logic about where my money should have gone is fucking retarded and impossible, dumbass. 2) I’ve also given a lot of my time the last 3 months trying to get Texas turned in the right direction on the NIL, which I’m guessing is a lot more than almost anyone here has done. But there are others who have too, some on threads around here who have also been getting mocked. So yeah, I’m not really going to entertain second guessing about my time and money when you don’t know jack fucking shit about it, so fuck right off. But I’m glad you’ve put it on the record that you don’t think the SEZ and upgraded facilities are important for the program and recruiting. That’s a real great take, I’m sure it will be well received. now, please back to portal talk.19 points

I remember picking my daughter up for the weekend in my early twenties and having literally less than a $20 to stretch over 2 days, so no judgment from me on people who can’t or won’t participate on NIL stuff. That considered, the SEZ experience is the balls. Also proud to see what’s being done with Burnt Ends here. I’ll take the wins where I can find them, personally.18 points

Today is a wonderful day all across the great state of Texas and the horrific shithole (with some nice scenery) of Arkansas. The weather is damn near perfect, and we have ourselves some hogs that need hunting. We have ourselves a full day of gorgeous weather and a slate of appetizing games to hold us over as we anxiously await watching the Texas Longhorns absolutely gorilla boof the razorbacks. Arkansas is coming off of a hard fought game against the world beaters that are Rice. Struggling to pull away until well into the 4th quarter, they were led by their huge quarterback who's name is largely irrelevant, because it doesn't seem like he's able to throw a forward pass. The defense will be looking to stop Bijan Robinson with all of their effort, and they will be super confused when "Bijan" takes the field as #5 on the defense. This week we can expect a lot more of what we got a taste of last week, a high octane all gas no brakes team that is on the attack. Hudson Card will be leading the Longhorns today at QB1, where he is expected to throw for "a fuckton" of yards. We have all of our offensive weapons healthy and ready to go. Bijan Robinson will be looking to make this a statement game for the season, because he is in fact SEC ready. On Defense we will see a relentless harassment of the piggies in the backfield, and I'm not even sure they will complete a pass. The Burnt Ends will play a critical role in this game, and it's safe to assume that there will be at least 1TD on the "Touchdown Play" to Cade Brewer. We are fully funded and IN THE BONUS MONEY, so show the Tight Ends some love as they go hog hunting. Horns up, it's gameday baby! Fire up your smokers, crack a can of your favorite beverage and get ready to watch the Longhorns. Hook 'Em P.S. For $10/mo you can be a part of the Burnt Ends and support our Tight End room. I’ll say it again, players that want to transfer or have checked out on the team or don’t give a shit don’t run over two defenders on 4th down in a blowout to get in the end zone. All this “Casey is a locker room cancer/doesn’t go to meetings” thing sounds like bullshit.12 points

Locking in Tech means locking out TCU and Baylor So you're telling me we get to go to the SEC, get all the benefits the perception and reality of that move will grant us, while also continuing and or rekindling yearly games with OU, Arkansas, Aggy and Tech (in that fucking order) Bringing back a significant chunk of what many consider the SWC glory days and all the while we gotta play Tech yearly...who we fucking own and sure as shit won't be looking to improve in their new training wheels conference. What's the fuss? I'd rather get that win than Mercer or whatever bullshit a lot of the SEC plays.11 points

No offense is going to be successful when you have an OL this bad. Okafor is just too slow and Majors was destroyed. Jones is hurt and he's really a guard. I absolutely can not stand that Flood didn't bench some of those guys tonight.10 points

Shit, there was a series in the first quarter where the play broke down and Card looked completely clueless- struggling to go though his progressions and no innate or instinctual mobility to react quickly enough to scramble for the first down. I sensed right then he was over his head. Card may have better accuracy or consistency in practices, but Casey at least has some instincts to make plays when the pocket collapses, which looks like it will happen often this year.9 points

As we lived in Manhattan during 911, we didn't need the to watch the spectacle unfold on TV that day. We just had to look up. It as a terrible time, but it was also an amazing time, as we experienced the best of people. Here are some of my more surreal memories of that time: After picking up my daughter at her private school, we passed the admissions office, which had been turned into a holding area for people who missing their spouses or parents. The door was mainly shut, but I caught a glimpse of students and parents, all sitting in a circle, wailing in sorrow as they knew someone wasn't coming home. The next night, we searched the hospitals for a missing friend. This was pre-internet (or at least good internet) and lists of missing people were mixed up with admitted patients. It was all a mess. She never turned up, but I was heartened to see people bringing food from their apartments to the hospital workers. The only words heard from her was a message on her mom's answering machine. "We're evacuating. Pray for me." Afterwards, we had to return her rented movies to the video store. Think how strange that would be. Two days later, we were back at work, getting reamed out by a big client in Atlanta on a conference call, staring at the smoking ruins from a 48th floor midtown office. While the client was excoriating us for our poor work, we sat wordlessly, unable to take our eyes off the incredible scene in the windows before us and not really giving a fuck about what we were hearing. A word about Texans. Afterwards, schools, fire stations, etc, would send handmade banners and flowers to the fire and police stations in NYC. Being from Texas, I am proud to say that 1/4 of all the banners hailed from the Lone Star State, mostly from elementary schools. My pic below.9 points

In order to have common ground, both sides first have to agree it exists. Compassion, understanding, and sympathy can be met with outright hostility for only so long before it turns to hostility in kind. We’re 18 months or whatever into this, and one side’s begged, pleaded, and bribed to try and get us to the other end of the pandemic. We’ve been met with “fuck you” the entire time. Literally the entire time. We got a perfect display of it last night when Mr. Minnesota or whatever his name is was twisting himself into knots simultaneously arguing about how Biden was handling the pandemic. His position is literally whatever the opposite of whatever Biden is doing because of “the libs.” A lot of us have done our part and we’re suffering because a lot of us ~won’t~. Not can’t, but won’t. It’s ok for those of us that have tried to do the right thing to be flat out fucking over it at this point.9 points

Starting Casey is playing the better QB that gives us more wins. I swear some of you really fucking dense.8 points

he had plenty of time in the second half. he was awful. he just horribly missed whittington by himself in the endzone early in the game, and then on back to back bombs, he missed wide open guys worse than tyrone swoopes in which those are tds. those were 100% on him. he was awful tonight. period.8 points

The knee jerk angst from this board is frequently nauseating. This move is fine by me given that I assume it takes doing anything with Baylor and TCU off the table. Fuck those two and I’m at the point of feeling the same way about Oklahoma State.8 points

2. 25 doesn't mean 25 times in 25 years, just 25 years. We gotta play somebody. 3. Tech is the only P5 school 10 miles west of I-35, that's more than half the State. Makes a lot of sense to play somebody in Texas. Keep your enemies close kind of thing. 4. We owe our wealth, our resolve, and much of our identity, to the romance and realities, of the State Lands in West Texas. Have some respect. Maybe one day you can take an RV road trip to Lubbuck.7 points
