The Texas legislature honored Hornius Emeritus (aka Traces of Texas) on Monday with a special resolution. I just read the non-partisan resolution and it says that the State of Texas thanks him for promoting Texas history and culture on his social media and website. No CR, but as far as I'm concerned it's the best thing to come out of Austin in this legislative session. Congratulations to my longtime friend!67 points

Seriously for a second, let me help you out bro. I know you meant well, but this is truly a low brow effort. There is a ton of low hanging fruit readily available for the picking had you just grabbed the proverbial step-stool and just reached your stubby little arms up and snagged a few. You could've come with Steve Sarkisian being a drunk, us being on our 4th corch in a decade, or even how we have been wandering the CFB desert since you joined the SEC. The only problem is this isn't Texags. We aren't a bunch of sunshine pumpers over here. Any dressing down of us we've already done ourselves. However, after taking the time to sign up and tapping your index finger on your nose in deep thought, you decided to go with the above posts. So let me show you how it's done. The Fighting Texas A&M Aggies are now sitting at 82 years since they last hoisted a NC trophy. The University of Texas at Austin, you know the Flagship university of the state with roughly half the acceptance rate as your precious aggy, would have to smash 3 of its 4 NC trophies, and then go another 66 years of what you've been giggling at the last decade in order to match the ineptitude in College Station. Aggy is the real life manifestation of Groundhog's Day. Imagine waking up every morning, despite never seeing the Aggies successful in football your entire life, and still believing the ags are gonna win. Purgatory sounds about right. However, there is one thing your football team and fanbase has done exceptionally well, and that is provide laughs for us for damn near 3 generations. And for that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. There are things that can be counted on. The sun will rise in the morning, and the Aggy Annual Rollercoaster Ride(tm) will come off the tracks somewhere in October. The clock is ticking ag, and winter is coming. Winter is coming. It's going to get cold in the SEC West soon. You should build a bonfire. See, that wasn't difficult at all. I took the low hanging fruit and just tossed it into a paragraph, capping it off with an insensitive comment about your bonfire. Now take a few notes and come back under a new name and try a bit harder.52 points

Guys you know what college football recruits don’t care about? The weather and local economy in college towns. Why? Because they are not 40 year old dads. The JuSt WaIt TiLl JaNuArY. Is the stupidest fucking cope that this board has every time a recruit picks another school.15 points

I know there ain't shit going on right now, and am usually down for a good thread derail, but this geography shit is out of control. Can we please get back to recruiting and take the "quality of life aspects aspects of various regions of the country for a 40+ year old family man" to another thread?12 points

Texas is a state of mind. Geography wise, the hill country is nice. However, the rest of the state is a barren wasteland. The coast is nice until you live there with 95% humidity and realize it sucks 9 months out of the year. If you travel and see much of the US, you realize other than the state of mind, there's not much appealing to Texas. I'm moving to the mountains out west somewhere. I'm old enough that blind homerism isn't enough to keep me living someplace when I KNOW there are tons of other places which are MUCH nicer. I don't care what state is on my address. I care about being somewhere where I can enjoy outside activities and scenery.12 points

I’m sure that some portion of the January 6th terrorists have a mental illness but it really grinds my gears that that “excuse” only gets brought up when discussing white people of a certain age. No one muses on the mental health of Muslim extremists or gang members or many other violent groups. I also reflexively recoil when y’all say something like “If these people would just find a woman to fuck, they’d chill out”. Yeah, vaginas are pretty awesome but it’s not their job to carry the emotional burden of “curing” a bunch of fucked up men. It’s not on me to fuck the crazy out of some gross Oakley wearing fat bald tiny dicked dude.10 points

I am neither married nor a father and I got the vaccine as soon as I could. Fuck your libertarian/personal freedoms belief. That's so selfish. I'm glad your kids gave you incentive to get the shot, but man...10 points

Heh no yachts or private islands, but I made plenty off ALPP/TSNP in those runs to be comfy just trading on the profits. My remaining original ALPP shares are officially willed to my kids. I may day trade what I have in the IRA, but not until after uplist since volume up there is multiples higher than OTC I haven't traded OTC since June... but after October 20th I'll see whats up. Took a break from Discord and Surly too, but have been watching things on Twitter again recently. Wish I had held onto that 1M shares of MJWL lol. Made $20k in profits so far on crypto (Mostly $ETH, $ALGO, $MATIC), but much different ball game than OTC. Hope nobody lost their shorts on any of my plays.8 points

Just found this gem of a comment while killing time on SEC Rant. In aggy world, of the four most recent additions to the SEC, we bring the least value to the table.8 points

Extracted Demon Gourd Sr. from his tomb in the back corner of the yard the other day, and had enough of Jr.'s vine strangling the grass, so I harvested him. I don't know how much bigger he was going to get anyway - he'd been stalled at roughly this same size for a while. A picture of Sr. immediately after retrieval, and then one next to the boy. And I've moved Sr. to the front of the house. It's currently the only outdoor Halloween decoration, which I think makes it all that much more unsettling. Mrs. Doom has done a complete 180 on the whole thing and is fully on board the bandwagon - she's suggested shellacking it for ongoing preservation, and is nervous about displaying it where marauding teens may steal and/or destroy it. But I've explained that it's decay is its power source, and it would be a crime to hide it from the neighborhood any longer. And frankly, I'd be delighted if some kids stole it for their own use and amusement as long as they didn't just smash it. I've obtained this year's host bodies and will be transforming them and summoning their true nature this weekend.8 points

Lay the sod o’er me. It appears that a handful of posters were able to codify their grudge into tangible action and I’m dead. The people have spoken and, in attempt to be true to form and in death honor the way I posted while among you, I will vow to not create a sock and insult everyone’s intelligence and pretend to not be myself (and spoiler alert; I’m not and never have been anyone else despite people’s weird assumptions I.e, Tahoe or Chrispy etc.). So I will post here. Come by and visit and see me from time to time and let me know what’s going on in the old neighborhood. Let it be known, however, that I was crowdsourced for being diametrically different and expressing those differences with respectful yet radical candor. All I ask is for conservatives in the CR to lay rose petals on my grave so I don’t hear the clods as they fall.7 points

I feel like most of us are in this boat. I was raised conservative since birth. I was the stereotypical frat boy calling people faggots as a punchline to a joke. Sometime in my early 20’s I realized that the hate I had been taught for gay people was wrong. Just flat out fucking stupid. It took a friend’s brother killing himself to get me there, but once you get there you start to question the other things you have been taught by your parents, and upon closer examination, you come to the conclusion that they were mostly full of shit. A little ashamed it took me that long to get there, but it certainly beats the alternative.7 points

I didn't think Williams was all that spectacular. He had about 10 just pure dumb luck plays go his way. He will most likely have some serious struggles going forward. At least 3 times I looked at my wife and said "you have to be kidding me". I mean, he looked good for a freshman, made some good throws and didn't make any mistakes that cost his team. He did make mistakes, just usually got lucky when he did.7 points
