  8. Today I made sashlyk - the accepted Russian word for any meat skewered and grilled across the former Soviet Union. In Christian republics, you get pork. Muslim, likely lamb. Everywhere, chicken and if you’re near a river or ocean maybe fish (sturgeon is popular). Sometimes beef, but beef across the former Union is low quality. This is Georgia-inspired and pork. I bought Prestice (PΕ™estik) pork collar. Take a look at the intramuscular fat and deep red color. This is a premium product here but not near as expensive as heritage pork stateside. This is what we miss with our factory pork farming. Cubed and into the marinade. Red wine, red wine vinegar, a neutral oil (I used sunflower but canola is fine), tomato paste, chopped onion, chopped garlic, thyme, paprika, red pepper flakes, bay leaf, salt, pepper. I eyeball the ratios. It shouldn’t be too liquid, you want a thick paste. And the red wine is needed but too much makes the meat winey. This is good with pork, lamb, or beef. This chilled out overnight. That’s about right. Too long and the vinegar will break down the meat and make it mushy. Open fire, mostly ashed over. This is super rich meat and you’re gonna get flares. Plated with some quick pickled onions. The pickle cuts the extremely rich meat. Not pictured are a tzatziki- like yogurt sauce and some simple grilled peppers and zucchini.

  9. Yeah, been absolutely balls deep at work since the spring and haven't posted as much as I would have liked...particularly given the absolute plethora (no/ElGuapo) of quality content that could be derived from this shitshow of a federal government. I'll be in Berlin all week from tomorrow morning early, so I should have a long train ride to try to capture the clusterfuckery of this government. Hell, who knows, maybe Christine Lambrecht will still be Federal Defense Minister, or maybe she won't...or maybe she and Scholz will just keep ignoring the questions whether she plans to resign or not. Hell, does it really matter? The creation of "SchrΓΆdinger's Bundesminister for Defense" during the largest European war since 1945 is par for the course for this idiot Regierung.

  11. WR coach update According to sources inside the program, head football coach Steve Sarkisian appears ready to hire Jacksonville Jaguars receivers coach Chris Jackson, a coach Inside Texas first reported as a possibility yesterday, to replace Brennan Marion, for the same position at Texas. Marion departed Austin last week for the role of offensive coordinator at UNLV. Sarkisian is also said to still be considering Adam Henry, receivers coach at Indiana, Joel Filani, the former Texas Tech receiver now an assistant at Washington State, and Dallas Baker, the current receivers coach at Baylor. The NFL playoffs could be a fly in the ointment. Sark originally wanted to get his hire in place prior to the upcoming junior day scheduled for Jan. 21. But Jacksonville beat the Los Angeles Chargers yesterday, which means Jackson will spend at least another week in the NFL playoffs and miss next weekend’s junior day. Of course, that would be a small price to pay. Jackson played at Washington State with Ryan Leaf before embarking on a 10-year pro career, including the first five in the NFL. Jackson is from Sark’s native Southern California, playing high school ball at Santa Ana Mater Dei, before moving on to Orange Coast Community College and then on to Washington State. Before being named the Jaguars receivers coach a year ago, Jackson served two years as the assistant receivers coach of the Chicago Bears. Sark is said to want a coach who is both a technician and who knows how to manage a wide receiver room with a wide variety of personalities and skill sets.

  13. Jesus @chemHORN I really appreciate the negs but holy fuck your post history is something else. You realize that this dude is the only thing in between this team remaining relevant in the B12 and completely collapsing following Beard getting canned, right? He is putting up phenomenal numbers on the season and was great again tonight. I mean holy fuck man I'll complain about players with the best of them but at least I do it when it's deserved. You have absolutely fucking no idea what you're talking about and apparently get really offended when someone tells you that.

  14. kenpom schedule prediction under chris beard: kenpom schedule prediction after a few weeks of rodney terry: all of this talk about what terry could do to become our next HC is insane. have you people not been watching or something? this team looks nothing like it did under beard, we are markedly worse across the board. we were smothering teams in defense while pushing the tempo on offense and scoring efficiently. now we have no identity, and are a clearly inferior team. i cant believe how many posts have been dedicated to talking about rodney terry becoming our next HC. it's ridiculous. the same board that crushes Barnes and his results now wants to talk about hiring one of his former assistants who is a vastly inferior coach. this beard situation has exposed how little our fans know/care about basketball.

  21. I agree that Terry is being successful right now, but he inherited a top tier team that had all offense, defense, rotation, leadership, etc in place. Basically like Barry Switzer taking over the Cowboys and winning a super bowl his first year. Next year we lose tons, and it will all need to be rebuilt. Plus recruiting needs to even raise up a notch to continue at the current level. I just don't think Terry is the right fit for all that. I think he's great, and will always appreciate him stepping in, in a very difficult situation, but we need a better longterm coach.

  24. Yes. The bombing of civilian apartment buildings and infrastructure is no different than terrorists flying planes in to office buildings, it’s just on a different scale. Both are terrorism and both are unacceptable. Openly give Ukraine the ability to finish off the Kerch bridge and any railways/highways entering their country from Russia or Belarus. We don’t need any further justification.

  26. Correct. Openly announce what’s coming and explain the behavior it’s aimed at stopping, and make clear that it’s irrational for Russia to treat it as some sort of escalation. Say out loud the bounds of rational response and dictate the terms.
