Talk about bittersweet ... what a fun kid to have on the team, for a couple of years. Wish him the uber best.62 points

Nothing but best wishes for Maalik from me. He got us the three wins we needed, even if barely and ugly. We all knew he was going to transfer and it is best for him to do it now rather than sit around and try to compete in the playoff. I also think that given the extra practices and what I’ve seen of him and Arch, Arch would be the backup in the playoff even if he was available.28 points

If he ended up seeing meaningful snaps on that field I could potentially regret it my entire life.27 points

Apparently Nolan wants high six figures, similar to what he got out of high school. No one is offering close to that. If Nolan leaves ATM, the house in The Woodlands is no longer available. Nolan’s dad is looking for a great second deal and a place to stay. Texas has zero interest. I assume this idiot comes back to CS and the aggie declare victory unless someone like Auburn or Oregon get really stupid.25 points

This whole thing is just beyond remarkable. The football program is being held hostage by a potential mutiny from whichever mercenaries haven't already portaled because they can't relieve a position coach of his interim head coaching duties in an absolutely meaningless bowl game. This is the same coach who has already taken another job (for less money, btw) and is actively recruiting both off the current A&M roster and from their verbal commitments. I gotta hand it to them. Even for A&M, this is as an impressive of a self-inflicted nut kick as I've ever seen. But it's all gonna be okay because their collective is putting out tweets every time one of the current roster members holds them up for more cash and they are able to meet the demand. That's how you control the narrative, apparently. I could have made up about 100 different hilarious scenarios on how an aggie coaching change would go down, and there is no way that I could have come up with something this embarrassing.24 points

If Robinson truly had balls, he'd be recruiting Elko to come to Syracuse with him to be his D-line coach. And at this point in his tenure in College Station, Elko would think long and hard about that.22 points

One thing the aggies are trying to do in their new NIL agreements is a notion of a grant of rights. Even if a player goes elsewhere and makes NIL money, the money goes to the Aggie United shit. If the player doesn’t transfer the money, the aggie NIL fund is telling the players they’ll sue. So someone somewhere is supplying Hamm with some legit info about the idiotic and desperate shit the aggies are trying to do in order to plug holes in the leaking dam.22 points

Hey, @immamac Let's auction off my mint-condition, Surly Horns 1969 magazine issue #1. It's the original version with the Raquel Welch spread that was removed after reader's wives complained. It should easily fetch somewhere in the $450-$650 range.20 points

This is stupid. Maalik stuck around through two big names committing to play his position, stepped up and won 2.5 games when Quinn went down and now has the opportunity to be the man. He played his part and now is taking advantage of a different opportunity for him. If your kid came you and said “Hey pops, I have an opportunity to hop in the portal and get to start somewhere but to do so I gotta leave this team early, or risk having that opportunity taken away to stick around on a team I know I’m not gonna play for because they’re in the playoffs, what should I do?” You’re really gonna say, yeah son you should stick around because that’s the respectable thing to do? Fuck that. Go get yours. You’ve got the respect of your teammates and coaches. Who else are you want him to impress? Us fuckass fan? Shit. If you wanna be mad at someone, be mad at the ncaa for putting those kids in this situation shutting down the portal before the playoffs get done. Go do your thing Maalik. I hope he fucking kills it somewhere.20 points

Have a friend whose dad was near the end of a long cancer battle over a decade ago. He was a great guy and fairly prominent businessman in Houston, so several people he’d worked with over the years sent flowers and plants etc to his hospital room - looked like fucking Moody Gardens. Anyway, he asked the hospital staff to get all of them out of his room - wanted them to give them to other patients in the hospital to brighten up their day. When they came to take them away, he said, “Give them away, all of them….except that one (pointing to a fucking ficus tree that Tilman sent him). I want y’all to burn that motherfucker.” I still laugh thinking about it.19 points

Okay, so, seriously, Melko came in and reset everything that had been sold due to limited budget. Hence the big time guys pushing back to Feb or decommitting. With a limited kitty, Melko wants to focus on quantity in the portal and if big time recruits want to get uppity, ATM was too tough for them in the first place. This keeps getting better and better.19 points

They'll be extremely lucky if their "very dark" journey is only three years. Aggy is now surrounded by sharks in Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama, and Georgia. They have nothing to sell right now that those schools don't have in more abundance: a history of success, better college atmospheres, more talented rosters, and competent NIL programs. Aggy had its chance a decade ago when they left for the SEC and (briefly) escaped the shadow of Texas and OU. For a short time they were the "new new" thing and bags were king. Even with those advantages, however, they never got over the hump and were, at best, a top 3-6 program in the SEC. Now they'll be solidly middle of the pack, competing with the likes of Arky and Missouri for scraps. If they're lucky. It is fucking bleak for them and I am here for it.18 points

The adage it's always darkest before the dawn I personally think applies. We are in the midst of a shift in political power in this country and because we are living in these times it's difficult for us to look at in this way. However, the results speak for themselves: 2016 - Trump wins, but loses the popular vote by 3 million 2018 - Dems win the house back 2020 - Dems win President, control of Senate, and the House, win Presidential election by 8 million votes 2022- Dems lose House, historical norm, however by the narrowest of measures, since then gerrymandered districts getting crushed in court (which gave Pubs the house via NY) 2024 - ? I'm seeing a trend here. To me, I think historically speaking Trump will go down in history as the death knell of the modern conservative (or fascist) movement most of us have endured the last 40 or so years. It was a last gasp, and in order for it to work, they had to get every kook and nutjob they could to vote for them; combined a historically bad Dem candidate. Even with all this combined, Trump still lost the popular vote in a major way, and while the electoral vote is what counts, it's still very telling. The percentage numbers for Republicans are getting worse every year, and their real base (not the aforementioned nutjobs) are dying en mass. You don't have to really understand an actuary table to get this. Each individual state will differ, but the general trend holds up. In so far as women's rights, minority rights, LBGTQ rights are concerned, it's been a worrisome trend, to be sure, people are having their liberty threatened, which disgusts me, and in my opinion should disgust every other American. All the more reason to encourage people to vote. It's all about turnout. It's going to take some time to reverse all the damage caused by the modern conservative movement in the court system, but the only way we can do that is by winning elections, and lots of them, not one singular election. I've got good news, we've been doing that. In Texas, there is one easy election recruitment strategy, make sure every woman knows that Ted Cruz wants to tell them what they can and can't do with their body. Tie this to his neck like a proverbial noose that it is politically.18 points

Don’t be like that. The kid has an opportunity to jump start his career and may lose out on an opportunity that could change his life by waiting for after the playoffs. Don’t pretend like you wouldn’t want to see Arch in this scenario anyways.18 points

Read this note, people. Interesting. Covers Robinson, transfer portal stuff and some '24 stuff. A couple of excerpts: "The A&M players were promised a final game with Robinson and have bought into that idea. If the Aggies pulled that rug out from underneath them, it would not go unnoticed among the players. It could even be a little messy. Various A&M players remain undecided on if they want to stay in College Station or leave following this season. There are some players in particular – who I will not name – who are thought to be goners if Robinson was abruptly let go. I am telling you, they do not think it would be good." "I would be more worried about A&M’s 2024 recruiting class. Based on how things are going right now, I fear the Aggies are in a very precarious spot. Keep an eye on it as the three-day early signing period approaches." A few things (long post) Carter Karels (Aggie 247)17 points

Apparently Senator Rubio and Senator Kaine put in a provision that makes it law that leaving NATO would require a vote from Congress. A "you know who" clause if you will. It's part of the package.15 points

If I could explain the who and the how on this one, you’d all laugh your ass off and absolutely believe it. If an agent scratches that language in the new deals, the aggie NiL folks do cave, apparently. As it relates to Nolan, remember what I said about the house in The Woodlands. It’s going to take a big package to justify them letting themselves get kicked out. I assume no other program is stupid on that level, so he’ll be back and flashing for a fifth of the defensive snaps every game in prep for his 5th round selection in the 2025 draft. Also, Texas had zero interest after confirming their suspicions after one phone call with the Nolan camp.15 points

Most of them were pissed at him. He gave a big meeting announcing he was staying and was super excited to coach them, then snuck out overnight and told them in a Zoom call the next day from Texas where the players yelled at him and his S&C coach told him to "go fuck yourself." Graceful exit designed to maximize Portal effectiveness.15 points
