  1. The WR corps won’t be young. Texas will send 3 more WRs to the NFL next year, Cook got plenty of experience, and the two TEs playing the most will each have 2-3 years of starting or serious playing experience. When you fall in love with the press clippings, this is where you sit. OSU signed a Bama castoff at C/OG and drew praise for it. They recruit like shit on the OL and they’re now paying for it when they play comparable talent. They have Will Howard at QB and drew praise for it. If you like Will Howard, okay, I guess. I’ll remind you of how awesome he is when he turns 4 over in a game. OSU has excellent WRs. They have excellent DBs and edge support. They have some name TBs who were largely dogshit last year and they’re living off of shit they did years ago. Lane Kiffin is the king of the portal and he willingly let Judkins walk. His teammates packed his bags for him and drove him to the airport. That dude is a cancer. Henderson is made of glass. They signed a 17 year old that bailed on Bama after Deboer told him he didn’t fit their QB mold. They paid $1M to land Downs. They also signed a C who can’t snap and was not an elite blocker, a clubhouse cancer at TB, and a KSU castoff at QB. The recruiting class got predictable hype and yet still largely ignored interior DL and elite OL. When people talk about OSU being a top 2 team with an elite roster, they are saying they got spun this offseason by a PR blitz within the media in a last gap reach for Ryan Day to prove himself. Ohio State ended the year on a two game losing streak, looking anemic doing it, and with fans calling for Ryan Day’s head. They lost more than they gained in talent and only an embarrassing non-con and weak conference schedule might save them from 8-4.

  2. Fuck it let's start a thread. Ties the official record for fastest 40 in NFL combine history. Edit: official 4.21 - breaks record.

  3. I heard the announcers agree, the story of the day was not only Worthy but the entire Texas football program. $$ https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2024/insider/story/_/id/39623027/2024-nfl-combine-top-draft-prospects-workouts-risers-40-every-position Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas: Worthy's combine-record 40-yard dash had Lucas Oil Stadium buzzing. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound receiver blazed down the sideline for a 4.21-second run, the best at the combine since at least 2003. It wasn't just his speed, though; his explosiveness was also on display. Worthy jumped 41.5 inches in the vertical and 10-foot-11 in the broad jump. I recently ranked him as my No. 35 overall prospect due to concerns about his frame, but record-setting speed will ease any concerns about his weight. He is one of the most electric players I've had the pleasure of scouting in person, and he has easily earned the right to be drafted in the first round to one lucky team. -- Miller Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas: Mitchell's draft range improved after his impressive day, as he ran a 4.34-second 40-yard dash, posted a vertical of 39.5 inches and leaped 11-4 at 6-2 and 205 pounds in the broad jump. I put him at No. 38 overall in my most recent mock, but I'm not sure he'll make it there in the real draft. He's the fifth wide receiver since 2003 to run a 4.34 or better at 6-2 or taller, according to ESPN Stats & Info. Notably, all four of the previous players to hit those marks were drafted in the second round. But Mitchell's explosive speed, huge catch radius and 11 touchdown catches in 2023 should make him a first-round selection. I see him as a top-20 player in the class at this point. -- Miller Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas: Sanders (6-foot-4, 245 pounds) opted not to do the jumping drills at the combine and turned in a 4.69-second run in the 40-yard dash. Where he impressed in the workouts, though, is also where he has impressed on tape: catching the ball and operating in space. Sanders showed off great arm extension and concentration on two clean runs during the gauntlet drill. He's more explosive in the short area than he is as a sprinter, which explains the slower 40 time. Sanders is my clear-cut TE2 with a Round 2 grade on tape. -- Miller Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas: Murphy had a tremendous amount of hype coming into combine week, and he certainly lived up to expectations. His game revolves around explosiveness, and his burst and change-of-direction skills simply looked different from his counterparts. With Jer'Zhan Newton not participating, Murphy had a prime opportunity to prove he was the top interior defender in the draft -- and that's what he did in my eyes. His 4.87 time in the 40-yard dash and 33-inch vertical jump both ranked in the top three at the position Thursday. It's unlikely Murphy -- who measured at 297 pounds and just under 6-foot-1 -- gets outside the top 20, and he could go as high as No. 13 to the Raiders. -- Reid T'Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas: Sweat weighed in at 366 pounds, which is the second heaviest defensive player measurement at the combine since 2003. Even at that size, he posted a 5.27-second run in the 40-yard dash. That's good for the second-fastest time by a defensive player at 350-plus pounds since 2003, according to ESPN Stats & Information. This event isn't catered to a traditional nose tackle like Sweat, but his movement ability, power and burst at a near-record size were impressive. He's not for every NFL team or scheme, but those that value a two-down run-stuffer with occasional bursts of pass-rush ability will likely find him available in early Round 2. -- Miller

  7. Worthy is the new version of a great team player. Nothing wrong with an American adult trying to maximize his market value and get his. We all do it at our jobs (or should). But when it was time to take the field he played his ass off. I'm not saying he didn't have his faults but as time passes his efforts to make sure he was making the money he could make won't be seen as one of them.

  23. Yep, it's all out in the open. 100%. This is the 2024 election: R Trump: violent fascist theocracy ... OR ... D Biden: imperfect Democrat. Anyone who votes R is saying YES! to a fascist theocracy and the violent end of democracy. This includes all y'all's f*cking MAGA-GQP in-laws, family members, neighbors, co-workers, etc. And this includes my Texas O&G brother who is likely voting Trump ("But Biden is against oil!"). -- This means they are fascists and theocrats, in spirit, if not deed. The only sane choice is D. End of story.

  25. Very nice man. I was fortunate to have crossed paths with him a few times while I was working for ABC Sports or freelancing for ESPN back in the day. He loved to talk shop. Years later I bumped into him at O’Hare when I was in Chicago taking a deposition. Again, loved talking about his work and was very interested in why I left television and with what I was doing then. A genuinely good person. RIP

A superbowl and some pretty good concerts mixed in with all kinds of random shit but they all bring back memories. Getting tickets to opening weekend for my kids and my dad at Chavez. He's a dodger fan and somehow I ended up a cardinals fan but whatever. His first game at Chavez was watching Kofax pitch in the world series. Now he's going to get to see ohtani play in the same barn. And all I will have is a fucking email and a bar code. I fucking hate e tickets.

  29. Yep. My favorite play of Worthy in 2023 was against Alabama, and it wasn’t the long TD. He caught about a 6-yard out on the sideline and immediately absorbed a big hit by the defender. Worthy shook it off, left the defender on the ground, and trucked ahead for another 5 yards or so for a first down.

  34. You shouldn't broadcast that you don't understand what you're looking at so publicly. Worthy made two cuts while Martin was running full speed on a straight line. Martin saw that Worthy was pulling away once he started moving straight and made a great diving play to clip his feet. Saying Martin "caught him" when Worthy had a 7 yard head start is a terrible take.

  38. The thing about Worthy is that while he's lightning fast, he's also a football player with a chip on his shoulder who will take on defenders (check the B12CG game film) and is not afraid to go over the middle. He's not a track athlete just trying to play football. Just wish his build was bigger. But within that 175 lbs. or so is a much bigger player fighting to get out.
