Really super cool to watch the Western jets that wouldn’t be an answer for Ukraine shoot down hundreds of Shahed drones like the ones Russia uses against Ukraine.14 points

The bonfire horror has always enraged me. One of MY state institutions, funded in part with MY public dollars, tasked with educating the young people of Texas…was so criminally inept and stupid, ON AN INSTITUTIONAL LEVEL, that it killed 12 of them. What happened wasn’t unfortunate, or negligent, it was fucking criminal. And what did the institution and culture learn from their actions that murdered 12 of our fellow Texans? Nothing. Not a single. Goddamned. Thing. Rage. The only thing you should feel for aggy, for eternity, is rage. They are murderers, and always will be, and they’ll hate you for daring to speak the truth to shatter their collective delusion.14 points

Speechless regarding the talking to parents who lost children in the '99 collapse hoping their undying loyalty to ATM would have diminished the grief enough for them to approve of and endorse the revival of this turdition. “The members of the committee and I are extremely sensitive to your loss. I do not want to reopen the many wounds that you have but it is important to me to have your opinion,” Bellinger wrote in the letter, asking to meet with the families. Sweet Jesus on a joystick there is no end to the insensitive moron who wrote this letter. As a parent who has lost a child, I just shake my head in disgust at these people who have no concept of what pain still must remain for those unfortunate families.14 points

“Unprovoked.” Fantastic. I guess decades of Iran funding and training militants against Israel (including Hamas militants who committed an avalanche of war crimes on Oct 7), and even launching attacks with its own forces (IRG based in Syria)….is not a provocation. Fascinating. For all the shit one can say about Israel - and there’s a LOT of shit one can say - “Israel hasn’t been provoked by Iran” isn’t one of them.11 points

This is ONE initiative that we are not participating in and so crapping on it unearned. It is easy to find which nations are really in this fight. The United States isn’t on the screen, we are below Canada and Bulgaria. Instead of asking why poorer Eastern European nations don’t wreck their economies and build factories they wont need, you might ask why we have such reluctance to even match a country like Croatia or officially neutral Switzerland since at scale that’s far more useful. I realize this is reality crashing into preferred political rhetoric but on something like this shouldn’t reality win?11 points

You are psychotic and completely detached from reality. There are thousands of posters who never even go to cloak room, or daily Texan. There are TENS OF THOUSANDS that never even leave the football and 9.95 boards. This isn’t a politics or news website. You legitimately have no comprehension of the demographic of this site and your small sample size personal view of what drives or doesn’t drive revenue to the site is completely baseless and there is absolutely no data showing anything even close to the picture you are trying to paint. We raised well over 6 figures for NIL on new years in New Orleans and not a single person there literally gives a single fuck about the daily Texan board on this site. Are there a few posters who are overly vocal about expressing opinions that have nothing to do with football on the other boards and then get marked for being complete pieces of shit? Yes, because maybe, just maybe they were huge pieces of shit. It turns out when you hate black people outwardly on a board about football people don’t really like that, or let’s say when you take a hard stance on something like LGBTQ that is contradictory to an inclusive community that isn’t LGBTQ supporting, but LGBTQ accepting and inclusive. none of this is hard, if you are a racist, xenophobic, transphobic, homophobic, whatever phobic this site is not a good place for you and guess what? I AM COMPLETELY FINE WITH THAT. I’m not a pandering fuckface who puts revenue and NIL programs over the strong principles that made this community great. You and your 5 friends can fuck off to Texags or Orangebloods or wherever the fuck they let you backwards ass thinking morons hang out unchecked.10 points

We have literally a full accounting of what is going on in Europe regarding supply via the contact group that meets in Rammstein. Anyway to answer your question: https://www.defensenews.com/global/europe/2024/03/20/czech-led-bulk-ammunition-buy-for-ukraine-picks-up-steam/ The United States is the NATO Ally that has the defense base to supply most of the more pressing needs like high-end air defense and long-range fires. We are the supplier of choice to NATO Allies for this and we in fact have pressed to ensure we maintained some of these key capabilities as part of our defense industrial base. And now we are sitting on it. Europe is contributing more per capita and in absolute terms but we are the nation that has surplus of extremely key hardware. It’s us or it doesn’t go.8 points

So instead of just sitting there with your rich friends and being a sycophant, how about trying to educate them on the fact that this site supports freedom of speech and has a wide range of viewpoints? The reality is that anyone who tries to wade in to the CR right now supporting just about any issue of the right has no basis for their position, so they get their ass handed to them. Take any issue. The debt? The Republican President along with tax cuts put us in this mess and the Democrats can’t do anything even if they wanted to because of the House. Immigration? Republicans shat a turd on that, and proposed a dumb ass wall that Mexico would pay for (right). Foreign policy? Republicans sucking Russian cock in exchange for campaign funds is not a good look. Dealing with China? Trump put up a fake tax that did nothing, while Biden is at least strengthening our chip plants before China invades Taiwan. Foreign policy with allies? Trump was a disaster who was widely ridiculed by every foreign power. Abortion? The Republican party is firmly on the wrong side of that issue, despite the party’s supposed mantra of “keeping the government out of our lives”. Views of Trump by his own administration? Every single member of his cabinet, along with hundreds of generals have pointed out he is unfit for the office. AG, Chief of Staff, Secretary of State, etc. And then there are the multiple indictments and serious charges of turning over our county’s most sensitive secrets to the Saudis, maybe Russia, and who knows else. Then there is the defrauding of his own charity foundation. And I haven’t even touched the surface of dozens of other serious issues of the Republican nominee for President of the United States. His dishonesty. His corruption. Etc. And you sit here and say this web site’s political views are the reason rich alumni won’t support their university? Do you realize how insane that sounds? Instead of blaming the site owner, how about you pull your head out of your ass and help other independents educate the rich right who haven’t realized yet they’ve aligned themselves with terrible unAmerican clowns.7 points

Ukrainians' love for coffee PROVES they belong with the West. But seriously, this is a good read, and I hope it makes everyone's weekend a little brighter by making y'all feel better about Ukraine. War or No War, Ukrainians Aren’t Giving Up Their Coffee Coffee shops and kiosks are everywhere in Ukraine’s capital, their popularity both an act of wartime defiance and a symbol of closer ties to the rest of Europe. When Russian tanks first rolled into Ukraine more than two years ago, Artem Vradii was sure his business was bound to suffer. “Who would think about coffee in this situation?” thought Mr. Vradii, the co-founder of a Kyiv coffee roastery named Mad Heads. “Nobody would care.” But over the next few days after the invasion began, he started receiving messages from Ukrainian soldiers. One asked for bags of ground coffee because he could not stand the energy drinks supplied by the army. Another simply requested beans: He had taken his own grinder to the front. “I was really shocked,” Mr. Vradii said in a recent interview at his roastery, a 40-foot-high brick building buzzing with the sound of grinding coffee and filled with the smell of freshly ground beans. “Despite the war, people were still thinking about coffee. They could leave their homes, their habits. But they could not live without coffee.” The soldiers’ requests are just one facet of a little-known cornerstone of the Ukrainian lifestyle today: its vibrant coffee culture. Over the past decade, coffee shops have proliferated across Ukraine, in cities large and small. That is particularly true in Kyiv, the capital, where small coffee kiosks staffed by trained baristas serving tasty mochas for less than $2 have become a fixture of the streetscape. Walk into one of Kyiv’s hidden courtyards and there’s a good chance you’ll find a coffee shop with baristas busy perfecting their latte art behind the counter. Coffee culture has flourished globally — even in tea-obsessed Britain — but in Ukraine over the past two years, it has taken on a special meaning as a sign of resilience and defiance. “Everything will be fine,” said Maria Yevstafieva, an 18-year-old barista who was preparing a latte on a recent morning in a Kyiv coffee shop that had just been damaged by a missile attack. The shop’s glass window had been shattered by the blast and had fallen onto the counter, but Ms. Yevstafieva was unfazed. “How can they break us?” she is heard saying in a video, referring to the Russian Army. “We have a strike, we make coffee.” THIS BUBBLY GIRL SEEMS LIKE A TYPICAL AMERICAN TEENAGER. CONT'D: In the spoiler below are a bunch of photos taken for this story.7 points

Now that I finished my "No Nukes" No CR rant... The Netflix Series, "Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War", is worth watching. Heavy CR slant to the dialogue, but the "factual"nuggets were very informative. The last few episodes are very topical. Simply labeling Putin as a KGB honk is misleading; His early years with a front row seat to the Berlin Wall coming down and the unraveling of the Soviet Union was much more impactful. His long term ties to the St. Petersburg mafia and the oligarchs provides a much better understanding of who and what he is and of the recent history with Ukraine. One thing doesn't change. Putin is pure evil and must be stopped.7 points

Absolutely, positively played myself at Wordle. It’s so wild to shit on these countries that are doing more than and and with donations that ultimately end up in large part in U.S. bank accounts because they are buying stuff from us. If we increased our aid to Estonia level that would be 827 billion dollars and the war is likely over.7 points

Well, they have been. Your idea of the size and ability of these countries is all upside down. Yes, the Czechs have emptied a lot of their inventory and purchased a fleet of Vipers, Venoms, and F-35s (24). The Czech Republic has 10 million people. How many F-35s do you think New Jersey can buy, or the Los Angeles MSA?! The $60 billion package currently being held up in the U.S. Congress is .002 of U.S. GDP, btw. That’s what we’re fighting over. 60 billion is .08 of Polish and .2 of the Czech GDP. Again, we are talking scale. We wouldn’t even move up the list of per capita but it’s a battlefield game changer THAT WE PAY TO OUR FUCKING SELVES.7 points

The Pentagon has said that if congress doesn’t get their shit together, Ukraine is about to be outgunned. That’s factually correct and says nothing about Ukraine’s longer term prospects for victory. As is, Russia will have a ~1 month window where they have a large advantage in terms of men, artillery, and Ukraine will be starved of air defenses. Ukraine is about to needlessly suffer and undoubtedly lose territory and infrastructure because of the US House. It’s hard for me to think of a recent example of US Politicians more directly having blood on their hands. But since you apparently haven’t been paying attention, I’ll spell out how Ukraine wins: 1 - Ukraine immediately receives a stockpile of Patriot missiles and ~7+ patriot systems from the ~100 spread across the EU. Russia has only been able to take out so much Ukrainian power production recently due to a shortage of Patriot missiles. Aside from reducing civilian suffering, this greatly diminishes Russia’s ability to use glide bombs on Ukrainian fortifications at the front because when patriots get near the front, Russia starts losing a jet a day on those glide bomb runs. Russia has only been able to achieve pockets of air superiority recently due to the patriot shortage. 2 - Ukraine receives artillery, mortars, etc… they’ve proven they don’t need to match Russia’s 10k shells per day to prevent Russian advance because they’re more efficient. But they’ll start receiving the 1-2+ million shells from the Czech led initiative in June. If the US could get them something like 6k shells per day immediately, they’d be able to hold the lines until June. 3 - Ukraine continues playing defense, smoking Russians at a 4:1 to 10+:1 clip … Ukraine receives F16s and enough long range weapons to permanently push Russian support hubs and 100+ miles from the front. Yes, Ukraine has had to give up some land since Avdiivka fell, but they’ve retreated to naturally advantageous positions. They now have water barriers and the high ground and Russian advances have largely stopped again. 4 - Ukraine takes out that bridge in the east and the rail lines over the land bridge to Crimea and chokes out the peninsula. 5 - Ukraine continues relentlessly targeting Russian oil and gas, Russian manufacturing, power plants, etc. Starve the machine of oil. This is the most obvious way to break Russia. 6 - Sustain the lines and keep Ukraine mostly clean and productive for 2+ more years. Russia is losing about 1k men per day. Their infrastructure is failing. They’re hemorrhaging billions of dollars a day in lost o&g revenue. Their stockpiles are demonstrably running low and they’re about to be completely dependent on their own production rates (which appear very insufficient) and supplies from their shit stain allies. Inflation is already very high in Russia and will get much worse due to shortages. Russia will break. Go fuck yourself7 points
