  1. Interesting viewpoint here. On one hand, you desire to see people physically abused for their beliefs, and on the other, you express dismay that you might be virtually punished for yours.

  4. It’s not even about Palestine. It’s about students assembling peacefully getting attacked by cops unprovoked. If you have a modicum of respect for the first amendment, you should have a problem with the images we’re seeings. Students on college campuses should have the ability to assemble peacefully. Universities are supposed to be a place where differing opinions are debated peacefully without the fear of being beaten down by cops in riot gear.

  8. You're a fucking embarrassment to the university. Whether you agree with students or not, you should damn well understand that they have a right to protest. People were constantly protesting shit on the west mall when I was there in the 90's. I disagreed with half of it, but actually dug hanging out around those protests. It was a great way to hear viewpoints different from mine, and I occasionally learned something. That exposure to differing viewpoints was a critical part of the university experience which formed the person that I am today. The 40 acres shouldn't be forced to bend a knee to whatever dipshit political animal inhabits the gov's mansion. My opinion of Hartzell is pretty goddamned low right now. What the fuck crimes were committed that warranted that response?

  10. Texas might have been in denial but it was always going to be pick which back up Star you wanted the most and lose the other. There is a Big 12 school who is recruiting a Denton Ryan kid really hard that also made sure the coaching staff knew they would welcome Austin with open arms and plenty of playing time. Ryan’s staff is pro Texas but they love their kids more. His family was very aware of the offer. It’s not a money issue, he just wants to play. Both Star players expected Barron to leave and for there to be an open competition for that spot. Barron comes back and that pushes back options for the kids. It’s business.

  12. So if we start naming school shooters as “protesters” will the cops actually do their job?

  13. This. Maybe I've missed it, but I have not seen any videos of protesters throwing rocks or tearing stuff up on UT campus. You can disagree with the message of the protesters while still acknowledging their right to protest and realizing that this level of police response is completely uncalled for. Unless you're a boot licker who jerks off at a show of force I guess.

  14. What the fuck are you even talking about? Why am I asking? You don't even know what the fuck you're talking about. Your entire point--insofar as there is a point at all--is based on speculation and fantasies about "what is likely going on at Berkeley right now." I mean, fuck man--how about focusing on what is demonstrably going on right now on our campus instead of what you imagine to be happening thousands of miles away. And right now on our campus, our sons and daughters are being oppressed by the Governor's thugs so that he can look more MAGA than Ron Desantis.

  15. Their assertion that Texas has an easy schedule, after over a decade of furiously stroking off over the inherent toughness of SEC schedules, is quintessential aggie.

  16. I probably disagree with a lot of what the protesters are saying, and I agree with a lot of it, too. But I fully agree that they have the right to protest peacefully, and that right was trampled to dust today. That's embarrassing for the school and the state, but I expect it from this increasingly messed up state.

  20. Look, I would be perfectly fine with firing one or both of the secondary coaches. But we also have to be real with ourselves, we basically started 4 safeties in the secondary last year. Watts will be a safety at the next level and that’s where Texas wanted to move him. Brooks was thought to be better at safety by most coaches who recruited him. Taffe is Taffe. we played Thompson and Crawford in big games and situations. Williams is a pure safety prospect

  29. you could always just ignore the complainers unless they are crossing a bright and unequivocal line. I'm not a mod, but does it matter how they feel? It's the same thing I think about most campus protests - it's just somebody raising their voice. Nothing was accomplished and no harm done until somebody decides the other guys need a muzzle. If the grey space of politics and current events is too challenging for them, should they be wading into it? For the record, I'd be shocked if we were talking about more than 5-6 people, and I bet I could name them. Anyway I'm extremely embarrassed by what happened on campus today (and I say that as somebody with very limited patience for privileged kids breaking rules) and alarmed by the increasing use of DPS as a Praetorian guard by Governor Abbot. That take doesn't seem political and if it seems too political for someone reading this, you should probably stay away from news and focus on life's pleasant diversions rather than hitting the report button.
