Tornado hit data center. Sorry for downtime. Going to have more downtime to fix later Please report weird shit here but I'm with my family and mobile only. I just spent about an hour on a bench on a phone getting this back up so be patient.52 points

In high school I worked at a pizza place owned by a Syrian immigrant. The day he became a U.S. citizen he came into the restaurant and announced he would be visiting Syria and Lebanon. He said, "If they fuck with me over there George Bush will tell them to suck my cock. Suck my American cock you motherfuckers."22 points

I don't know about y'all but every Libertarian I've ever known is an insecure, know it all, contrarian jackass that likes to scrutinize the political views of others while never wanting to hear scrutiny of their own. The fact that they'll never win and hold any office makes it where they never have to admit that their ideas are childish and unworkable in the real world.11 points

Buddy of mine got sworn in and we threw him a party today. Known him for a long time and found out he wasn’t already a citizen 2 years ago (he has been “in process” for years). He went through all of the hoops. He took the test. He wanted this more than anything. He got sworn in with people he knows “skipped the line”. And felt like he was being processed when he swore his allegiance to the USA. Neg me to oblivion, but the people that do it the way it is supposed to be done are frickin’ hreoes.10 points

That's why I call myself Superhero, because I did it "the way it is supposed to be done". Took a long ass time, but it's worth it. I wish I could have had family and friends at my citizen ceremony. But this was in LA, and there were probably over 1,000 people being sworn in. Yes. Make the wall taller, but the gate wider. Allow people who abide by the laws, bring skills and willingness to work (even seasonal farm workers) into the country. And willingness to work, and integrate into American society.9 points

How many terror attacks do we have to watch before Ukraine is allowed to fire western weapons at military targets across the border? Why do we seem to believe that this is the super duper serious red line that will result in nukes? Russia is already attacking the west in a number of ways. Fuck these clowns already9 points

I was banging this gal for a few years, whose husband was an immigrant from Adana Turkey. He got his citizenship like over 20 years ago - I can't remember if it was late 90s or early 2000s and I never asked him if it was before or after 9/11 (seems like it might have become a little more difficult for some regions after 9/11). I do remember asking him every now and then if he was from Adama, Turkey, and he'd get kind of irritated and say "no, it's Adana, Turkey" and then I'd say "so say we all".7 points

Attended a few. Always emotional. Bosnian's threw a huge party, we got pretty messed up. Afghans, a calm sedate dinner surrounded by US flags. They all have become damn good citizens with a few going on to serve the country.7 points

Took almost two years of impatiently waiting for it to be finished and dealing with an incompetent builder, but we finally moved into our new house earlier this month and the BGE is getting fired up today for the inaugural cook in its own new home. Smoking a couple of chuck roasts for dinner later tonight with the in-laws who are coming over.6 points
