  1. There was an 8 figure outflow of NIL the preceding 12 months. The coaches aren't doing stupid shit because they have money in the bank. Baseball is a great example of doing stupid shit with NIL money and getting bad results. Football is a great example of what to do with NIL for great results. This narrative about DT being a huge issue is largely predicated on losing 2 high NFL draft picks that played the primary roles at that position, not because some 18 year olds aren't coming here. There are very good DT on the roster and no one was in here bitching about how shitty the DT looked in the spring game, especially with the new edge rush. As much as the handwringing brings views and whatnot it's time to just wait and assess what we've got going on instead of creating insane doom stories about how we are fucked because we have no DT.

  2. Well, one more 155mm round will reach the front. The boy spent some of his money to sponsor a round, with a special message -- he just got notified this 4th of July weekend (aptly) that it has arrived at the front lines:

  3. Do you think there are conversations behind the curtain before the press conference. New Coach (at whatever sport) Do we really have to do it? AD : I know its stupid but we have to. It's harmless and gets them on your side. New Coach: sigh, okay. Later at home: Husband/Coach: well that wasn't too bad. Wife: How long do we have to stay here. Husband; Shows check. Wife: sigh, okay.

  4. Another tidbit on the Roger’s recruitment, his head coach is who took him to his official visit to Texas. Coach Allen absolutely loves Coach Gilbert. Gilbert gave him his first two jobs and has been a driving force in his career advancement. Gilbert has kept Texas in this recruitment while Texas has played Rogers a little small while other schools applied full court pressure. If Texas wants Rogers and makes sure he knows he is not playing second fiddle, Texas can easily win this recruitment. Both Fasusi and Rogers are studs. I’m glad I don’t have to make a decision between the two.

  5. btw the idea that Trump is Biden's, Hillary's or the liberals fault is fucking laughable. It's the Christians and the monied Republicans fault. he is a VERY compelling and competitive candidate not because of anything the liberals do or don't do but because he is a natural authoritarian strong man who is taking advantage of what was available on the conservative side of our Country.

  7. Rogers loves football and is less about the night life. This could be a trade that irks people but makes sense in the long run. Get him and Brooks and holy shit, that is an OL class. Even without Brooks, that would be a terrific OL group. Also, for people thinking, bizarrely, that NIL is weak or doesn’t matter, take the top 40 players on the roster and everyone of those is an NIL win and a lot of them were highly competitive and involved serious jack. Yes, that includes a backup QB. That is Simmons, Wingo, Moore, Baker, Banks, Niblack, Bond, Hill, Muhammad, DWilliams, every TB, etc., and so forth. The only thing broken in this cycle is approach at DT overall. That doesn’t include Sharma to Oregon. That one is a feature and not a bug. Any idiot using that as a cudgel in an argument should start getting negbombed to clean up the discussion.

  9. He is too old. He's not incompetent. He's not prone to damage the republic. He gives a shit. The only question is which candidate is better for the country in the role of president. The choice between these two men is the easiest in any election ever. It's crazy.

  10. This post is so stupid and ill-informed that I think I burst a blood vessel in my eye. I'm not even going to waste my time correcting you, I'll simply leave it that your fantasies, whatever they may be, are just that, and likely as reaslistic as waking up with magical powers or without that gaping vagina between your legs. For fucks sake. Are you under the impression that Alabama has a dearth of black people? It doesn't matter what collective bargaining and regulations ever take root, they will never eliminate an athletes ability to make money on their Name, Image, and Likeness. Or NIL, if you will. It's literally what the whole legal case was about. Which means collectives, and outside marketing opportunities will always exist, and Texas will still be better positioned than anyyone for various reasons, and Texas will be fine. Better than fine.

  11. In Pensacola for a family vacation, checked out a Wahoos game tonight with the fam. Sunburnt as shit and wore my Texas baseball jersey because it’s sexy and fits loose, 4 times while walking around had some form of aggy ask me if I felt shame for stealing a coach and being what’s wrong with college sports. I laughed and said if I’m what’s wrong then we have bigger problems. Dorks all of them, but the stadium is nice haven’t been back since I was stationed at NAS 16 years ago

  13. My favorite part about all of this shit, is that some people apparently can't remember what recruiting was like before NIL. Even after Sarkisian was here, it was not even remotely close to what it was after the pancake factory flipped the fucking switch and slapped people in the face and brought awareness back to Texas. Sark's second season wasn't exactly a fucking bolt of lightning of an obvious upswing. But everyone sure seemed to pay attention to Texas a bit more in recruiting. The move to the SEC certainly helped. The coaching staff did their part and has improved the team, obviously. But NIL was the fucking spark that lit the powder keg that is our current roster. Wait, I mean we're poor and we can't compete with anyone financially Fucking fuck.

  15. I have never understood bad mouthing what are essentially still kids. Especially in this era of the portal. Wish him well, and move on. Why do we have to shit talk him on the way out? He had reasons to leave, probably was nonplussed given JS history and likely didn't want to play for him. There is nothing wrong with that. We have no idea what he'll turn out to be and a bad freshman season only means something about 50% of the time. Kid was a Longhorn, just leave it at best of luck kid.

  16. Cool backstory here about the Russian ship that caught fire in April. Note Ukrainian intelligence said the story was "to be continued" when news of the fire first came out. One of the most modern missile ships of the Russian navy was set on fire from the inside, and secret documents were stolen: a Russian military officer voluntarily defected to the Ukrainian side. A Russian citizen with the call sign "Goga" served in the Russian Baltic Fleet and allegedly wanted to quit because of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. In 2023, he turned to the GUR's I Want to Live project. Since then, he helped Ukrainian intelligence agencies and organized a sabotage on the Serpukhov ship. Together with the secret documents, "Goga" was taken out of the territory of the Russian Federation by the Ukrainian intelligence agencies, the GUR said.

  18. If these are your main takeaways, you certainly have not been paying attention and/or you’re listening to the wrong people around here. Texas is absolutely in the top-tier of football NIL. A tier, you should be reminded, that’s very small. Texas is one of the only programs to have had a top-tier and aligned approach year-over-year thus far. Add in the corporate opportunities in Austin, and the list gets even smaller. Certain schools have wielded an NIL (bag, in the case of aggy) jihad in a given year, but a sustainable and consistent top NIL pool has been a pillar of Texas’ strategy the past three years. It’s fucking July, people. On-field results, shrinking availability of funds, coaching uncertainly, and Texas altering its approach will all likely affect the outcome here positively for Texas. Overall, this class looks like it’s again going to be really good. Improve it at IDL and DB and it will be outfuckingstanding.

  20. 51mm people turned on the debate, and the majority of the those already wondered if Joe Biden could still do the job. Now they know he can’t. There is no coming back from this and no historical analogy applies. He could go dap somebody at every Waffle House in America every day between now and November and it won’t change the fact that independent voters in 5 key states will not come his way, period. The window to change minds is closed. Itβ€˜s plan B or plan T.

  21. I just had a vision... Biden resigns on the 4th of July and gives a tear-jerking, noble, and patriotic speech. Kamala is inaugurated as President immediately after that, and she gives a powerful and inspirational speech. Kamala challenges Trump to honor the other scheduled debate. He backs down like the coward that he is. Kamala is put in front of cameras 714 times over the next 4 months and pulls away in the polls, as Trump's thinly-veiled racist jabs work against him. Kamala wins comfortably in Nov. Trump is convicted in his other trials and sentenced to prison. Internet Gravy Seals talk about busting Trump out, but otherwise don't do much. Trump is shanked to death in the shower by a guy named Marquintus whose grandfather was denied housing by Trump in the 1970s.

  23. Texas wanted 2 top DEs in this class. If they could land a 3rd really good one without a big NIL need, great. I viewed Jones as a non-entity once Orogbo locked in. Regarding OL, where plenty of NIL is always there, if you have two guys who are quality candidates and one is going to cost a lot more and has serious risk on his commitment to the sport, you have to seriously weigh in on what you think the talent gap, if any, is.

  30. I read enough comments this morning from atm cult members saying "Texas has never won anything" and it caused me to wonder how much winning they've done in the SEC. I count 12 years of atm in the SEC. They compete in 21 sports, ten of which are mens sports. I counted up their regular season conference championships in each sport. Mens - 1 (one) regular season conference championship in 12 years playing 10 sports. It was in basketball, 8 years ago. Out of 120 opportunities, their success rate is 0.8%. Womens - 8 regular season championships in 12 years playing 11 sports. Womens basketball and T&F, 3 each. One each in swimming & diving, soccer and tennis. Their most recent conference championship was 2021. Out of 130 opportunities, their success rate is 6%. Counting both m & w, ATM's overall success rate for winning regular season conference championships is 3.6%. We shall see but there's a better-than reasonable chance the University of Texas will have won more regular season conference titles in one year of SEC play than TAMU has been able to capture in 12 years.

  34. The fat old bastard could also have a heart attack in the next few months. Four years ago, the 78-year-old guy had trouble navigating a ramp, drinking a glass of water, had to undergo cognitive tests. Again, why do we ignore that asshole's infirmities and how he's declined since then? Biden had a horrible night on one stage, while Trump had numerous brain glitches over the past few months at his rallies aside from his insane ramblings like confusing Haley for Pelosi and Obama for Biden. Has everyone forgotten this speech: "We are a nation that just recently heard that Saudi Arabia and Russia...ooh... aah." The press would call for Biden to step down if he glitched like this quick clip. Why haven't they with Trump? https://www.c-span.org/video/?c5108747/user-clip-half-minute-sentence Even the majority of posters in this thread, which are overwhelmingly against Trump, seem to have forgotten that Trump has been showing signs of slipping. ***** Here are my unsolicited opinions: I'm not comfortable with an 80-year-old in the White House, whether that's Trump or Biden. Biden's speech impediment seems to have worsened, and he mumbles more. The timbre of his voice also sounds like he's losing his hearing, which might explain some of the mumbling. These issues are on top of the fact that I feel like he's never been a good orator. While those are terrible qualities in a candidate whose primary job is communication, they don't necessarily translate to bad decision-making (aided by advisors) while occupying the office, which matters most as president. Aside from all of that, Biden had a hectic international travel schedule in June, followed by week-long intense preparations for the debate. He may well have simply been showing signs of mental/physical exhaustion while on cold meds when he was up on that stage. I can't yet determine his "fitness" for the job to my own satisfaction, as we don't have too many data points of Biden performing that badly on camera. He seemed fine during his speech in Normandy at the beginning of June. I think a lot depends on how the interview goes in a couple of days, focusing on coherence and intelligibility. In other words, I'll pay attention to what he says as much as how he says it to discern whether it's speech-related communication or brain-related cognition. If it goes poorly, I'm mentally preparing for him to step aside for Harris or whomever. I guess that also applies to that happening even if it does go well since there seems to be an air of inevitability about it right now. It's beyond sad that we've reached this point, but I'll wholeheartedly support anyone on the ticket. Democracy over destruction.

  35. Democrats have always been terrible with messaging Donald Trump is convicted felon, rapist, racist, extreme narcissist, stupid, an idiotic braggart, habitual liar, ruined America's streak for peaceful transfers of power, weakens our allies and admires our enemies, has the worst fucking kids, oh and is an ugly orange stained loser with weird fucking hair. But the prevailing narrative for this election is Joe Biden is old. Now alot of that is because our corporate media oligarchs keep repeating that point to the public and treat Trump as if he was a legitimate candidate.
