  3. https://www.surlyhorns.com/board/settings/account-security/#piiDataRequest if you want to know what data could have possibly been leaked request here. The passwords are encrypted at rest in the database so there is no leaks there and there are no leaks related to any payment information that could have happened. The actor was not very sophisticated and mainly just fucked with the site - I have extensive audit logging on the database and query monitoring. There was no unusual database activity in the form of dumps or unusual queries leading up to the hijack and subsequent dropping of the database tables. An example of the data that could have been leaked is your IP addresses, your name, your email, and your birthdate and your address. Nothing else is available in unencrypted formats at rest in the database other than already public information such as posts etc. Again I have no reason to suspect there was a database dump and there was no access gained to the underlying server or direct access to the database (although the credentials were leveraged in a side vector attack using the php configuration). I suspect this happened because of a leftover artifact from an upgrade some time ago and a brute force attack on spoofing admin credentials on a largely unused admin account. Both of those attack vectors have been addressed and I will be monitoring the situation closely. @Rimbo Also there were 3 duplicate transactions for payments that I have already refunded, this was due to me testing the site before doing a point in time recovery to a safe point right before the attacker dropped the entire database. That coupled with closing any and all attack vectors that I suspected took the additional time from the first site bring up to the second site bring up.

  4. Glasscock got an offer for more money and more power. Sarkisian told him "good luck". After that, Sarkisian didn't exactly scour the earth for the best man/woman possible. Then, he promotes an immature yes man to do what he's told in a key role. He also hired an unknown at DL coach and didn't allow the guy to cast a wide net. A lot of that is hubris from a guy feeling good about himself and what's he's building. It's a management trap that many of us have fallen into, and the only ways out involve the ability to listen to wise counsel and be very introspective. I think Sarkisian has both of those abilities. Can he recognize the issues and get a grip on them? I don't know. It may take a rake-stepping asswhipping of a 15th ranked class when they should have been top 3-5 to fix it. Texas being Texas, they may still wind up with an imbalanced but highly ranked class, around 5-6. Will that still spur the belief in the need for change? I don't know those answers. I do know that the past few weeks have led to negative feedback about certain elements, making its way out to people involved with helping things along from the outside. Maybe that is indicative, hopefully, of changes coming. Whether the changes needed involve hiring an exec, demoting or firing, and at what roles, I don't know. In a new era of unlimited coaches, one thing they should absolutely be doing is looking to hire someone who is an absolute badass at recruiting and unemployed because they suck at coaching. Give them an assistant TB coach or ST coach title and get their ass to work.

  5. No one is “changing the market”. What are you dums dums working yourself into a frenzy over? Oregon has done what Oregon can always do. Ohio State hasn’t won anyone over some NIL preference. They straight up beat Texas for several guys that Texas seemed to either not really be on in the first place or got outhustled by as time passed. Georgia? They’re the big dog in recruiting due to on-field performance and getting guys into the NFL. That is always a dogfight. If you of the idiotic notion that Texas just needs to big dick the market by going double x what others are offering, for WRs, no less, we all saw how that worked out already. The sense of entitlement and indignant from people on the boards right now who have done nothing and know nothing is at all time high. Keep pounding the table with both fists until y’all get what you want though. I’ve already addressed what is actually turbofucking this cycle for us. Until Sarkisian and Banks wake up or Brandon Harris gets super smart and competent, it doesn’t matter what kind of NIL stockpile Texas is sitting on currently.

  8. The best part about Surly being down all afternoon is that managing partners of accounting and law firms all over Texas are going to be lying awake at night wondering why their billables had such a huge spike on a day where a massive chunk of the state had no power or electricity.

  10. I can't speak to the motives of NYT opinion writers or billionaire donors, but I know there are millions of people like me who turned to their spouse after 10 minutes of debate watching and said "oh shit, Trump is gonna be President again." Go back and read the debate game thread - there's no messaging psy-op there, no coordinated campaign from elites to choose a candidate, just a bunch of internet dorks reaching the same conclusion in real-time. Brushing this all off as some deep state conspiracy is bordering on Alex Jones territory.

  15. With full sun, we can operate indefinitely with pretty modest conservation. Power went out at 8:30 am yesterday. Battery was at 100% at that time. While it was cloudy the rest of the day, we did get decent enough production from the panels that the battery full recharged and we were able to run the oven, do laundry, and wash dishes for a bit during the day. We set the AC to 77 to conserve power (75 at night). Battery peaked at 96% at 5:00 pm. The screenshot is from this morning around 8:00 am. The sun was already providing sufficient power to offset our usage (at the time just fridge, freezer, lights, and pool pump at low level). Battery should be nearly full charged by 2:00 pm. At that point we'll look at charging car, doing laundry, whatever energy intensive things we need to use up whatever excess energy we have from the panels while keeping the battery at near max charge.

  30. I agree it is all the individuals and little things that make it work. But having lived in Houston 4 times, the local government led actions during Katrina was something to be proud of; Democratic Mayor Bill White (UT) reaching out to Republican Gov. Perry (A&M) for State & Federal resources (days away), and supplementing that with the more immediate local resources, HEB & Mattress Mack, etc. Before Rita, I flew home to IAH and didn't have enough fuel to make it to Katy, and Houston was out of gas, so I parked in a Best Buy parking lot and called my wife to come get me. A wrecker pulled up and the driver offered to sell me some gas, for $50/gallon (he was kidding, he didn't have any). I needed diesel. He told me of a station 2 miles away that was out of gasoline, but still had diesel. No charge, just asked that I keep it to myself. So sad to see so many who evacuated, only to be stranded at a gas station. After Ike, I got the kids situated, and loaded up my chain saw and tools and took off to help clear the downed trees in Katy. I was very disappointed to see that so many individuals had already beat me to it and had cleared most of the downed limbs in the streets. Later, I took my kids to find volunteer opportunities at multiple food/supply aggregation points, and each time was told to leave a phone number and they would call, as they were already fully staffed for their needs. Houston Works. From the top of the food chain to the bottom, people get things done. Help where you can. Yes, similarly, replacing a transformer is fairly straight forward. However, checking all the upstream and downstream connections before you energize the circuits is a labor intensive and tedious task (Why did it blow in the first place?). Our job is never so important that we cannot take the time to do it safely ... Best wishes for a timely recovery for all affected. Well, considering that in less than 48 hours (~mobilization to deployment to arrival time), the projected landfall changed from a tropical storm in the most desolate place on the Gulf Coast to a hurricane hitting the biggest city, 400 miles away, I'm not sure you can fairly lay that blame on anybody.
