  1. Just talking to people who are partisan Dems, but who were very dispirited—that’s all over now. They’re super-energized and ready to go. Including , and especially, Mrs.LL. In related happy news, I am so getting laid tonight.

  3. I was on the fence on whether Biden stays in or make a change to Kamala was a better chance for winning in Nov. I could see pros and cons on both sides (sorry for that phrase). Now that it’s done, and Biden seems to have done it in as gracious a way that could be done, I can’t even put into words how energized I feel by this news. Thanks Joe — for bearing that asshole in ‘20 and now for thinking of the country first and standing aside so Kamala can deliver the knockout blow in ‘24! Let’s fucking go! Shapiro endorses Kamala

  4. When Hell freezes over. Which will tee up the Democrats for one of the best lines in political history: Yeah, we're not surprised that a convicted felon is afraid to face a former District Attorney.

  5. Every politician has an ego, and certainly no one is perfect. But Biden has served this country the best he could for longer than many here have been alive. He's overcome more than most can ever understand. He served alongside the first black president, then ran for president with the first black vice president and first woman vice president. He's accomplished far more in his presidency than most of the country ever gives him credit for. Purely on his record, he's one of the better presidents of most of our lifetimes. He likely saved American democracy from the threat of fascism when he ran in 2020. And now, via making this decision, he may have just saved American democracy again. I hope the history books someday remember him as they should. An incredible legacy.

  6. I can’t cast my vote until I hear Kamala’s position on whether she would rather be eaten by a shark or electrocuted by a boat battery.

  7. What Joe Biden just did is not easy. RBG couldn’t do it. Feinstein couldn’t do it. And their refusals made the country worse. This is a historic act of humility. His presidency has been extremely successful, against all odds. Almost anyone in his position would go down swinging and embittered. I, for one, will not forget this.

  8. See how easy this is? Now unleash Mayor Pete on TV for the next few months as he can now fully destroy Trump/Vance with Kamala at the top of the ticket.

  9. The fact that radical republicans are angry at this tells me all I need to know. Fox News is hilarious right now with Laura INgrapmachqpaham and her lip fillers having absolutely nothing Then this:

  10. Yes Joy Reid already said Donna Brazile texted her to say Manchin contacted Donna about what the process is to get on the ballot and Donna said “well first, you have to be a Democrat”

  11. Alright, look I was pissed about a lot of things and I’m still sad we don’t get a Biden second term but my biggest fear is we would lose to Trump. I’m still not happy about the way some of it went down, but… I can give shout outs to folks (you know who you are) and say I was wrong you were right. I truly thought this was going to just keep spiraling down the tubes and frankly early this morning it looked like it was. Yeah he had to go and I resented having him forced into that place and maybe it was required but I didn’t like it. I don’t think he did either. But Biden did a remarkable thing today and I salute him and I salute the Party for coalescing around Kamala quickly. And as I said any remaining grievances I’d drop as soon as he dropped out. I was wrong based out of fear of a bigger clusterfuck which was entirely possible. Fear ain’t no way to go through life. today has been a very good day.

  12. If Harris spends ten seconds in Texas between now and November, then it is malpractice. Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Virginia, North Carolina, Nevada. All day. Every day.

  14. Trump has to be so angry at Biden for doing this when he himself could never fathom it. I picture the moment in Hamilton where King George after learning Washington is stepping down says "I wasn't aware that was something a person could do". This is such an odd moment of grace and humility that Trump's cheeseburger addled brain couldn't imagine doing. It also takes away the sympathy bullshit he's been getting. He's going to return to the awful person he is and the meltdowns will be glorious.

  16. @Rimbo, you really this dumb? Joe Biden doing what 99% of pols wouldn't do, step aside for the good of the country. This is what leadership is, and it takes courage.

  19. I honestly think we just witnessed the greatest political play of our lifetimes. Pubs bit on the play fake and Joe hits a wide open Kamala (Derek Lewis) downfield

  20. Paraphrasing Congresswoman Joyce Beatty on MSNBC: “we had a call planned today to talk about the election. It had 18,000 registered Black women. After today we anticipate that call will have 30,000. For Black women, this is personal to us”

  21. Donated. And I'm going to donate every week until the election is won. As an independent never trumper who has watched the Dems fuck up a lot, thank God they got this right. And it's about goddamn time we elected a woman (and Indian). Thank you Joe Biden for doing what almost no one else would do in his situation. You're a true patriot. Now let's fucking go.

  23. Joe Biden is now a President with total immunity and legal protections for official presidential actions as granted to him by the Supreme Court — and unencumbered without the electoral concerns of seeking re-election.

  24. For those that are criticizing this move, I get it. It’s a tough call. He might have been able to rally and win. However, the stakes are huge. They are as big as they’ve been in our country’s history. I found in business over the years that trying to band-aid a problem rarely if ever worked. And that’s where the Democrats were until today. I’ve always found that going ahead and ripping off the bandaid and taking bold action with strong leadership usually resulted in far better outcomes. Embrace this bold action and let’s get behind Harris and WIN!

  25. Sad for it to end like this for him. But he can spend the next 4 months campaigning for the eventual nominee and use it as a farewell. And when he has his senior moments, people will say “aww papa Joe” instead of groaning.
