  1. I am still in shock that my 70+ year old republican-ass parents are enthralled with the democrats right now. Like way more enthusiastic and pumped up than they've been for any other candidates in my life. Hanging on their every word sort of hyped. Never thought I'd see the day.

  2. Am I taking crazy pills or is everyone else? He’s not fucking mocking people who went to Yale, he’s mocking specifically JD Vance who went to Yale but pretends to be an everyman based on some bullshit story he made up about his youth. Not to mention that the republican platform for at least 30 years has been to mock the “liberal Ivy League elites.” How has everyone seemingly lost that in translation? It’s blatantly obvious, like the most obvious thing one can say in a stump speech! I want to pull my fucking hair out!! We really are that stupid as a county I guess, fuck!!!

  5. I voted for Republican POTUS candidates in every election from 1992 through 2012. I sat out 2016 and then went for Biden in 2020. I'm about ready to make my 1st political donation to Harris/Walz.

  6. I think you're misunderstanding who has fucked around, and who is finding out. The "uncommitted delegates" may not be the actual people who have heckled Harris at her campaign rallies or who are blocking delegates at the Convention or who have repeatedly promised to turn Chicago into a replay of 1968. But they are closely aligned with those people. And the fact that those actual people have actually done those things tells me either (1) the uncommitted delegates are complicit, or (2) the uncommitted delegates are not leaders in the movement and have no sway or credibility. Either way, there is no benefit to giving them airtime. There is, however, a huge detriment. They're unpredictable. They could completely fuck things up because you absolutely cannot guarantee that these people aren't going to go rogue. They're also unpopular. Their position is not supported by the vast majority of Americans. So why would you possibly give valuable airtime to a group that, on their best day, are going to get up there and say shit that most Americans don't really support? Finally, there is a big benefit to excluding them. It sends a message. It's general deterrence. The days of the Democratic Party playing nice are over. This is back to LBJ-style politics. And that style of politics is damned effective. Don't think you can fuck with us and we'll still give you what you want. You may have gotten away with that shit under Biden and under Obama. But fuck that noise. We're keeping the receipts. You can't trot around calling the President "Genocide Joe" and then think you're getting any time to talk at Joe's going-away party. You can't heckle Kamala Harris from the crowd and then think you're going to get to talk on the night she accepts our nomination. And you know what? Telling these people to "fuck off" shows strength. And strength is popular. It may lose Harris like five votes in Michigan. Guess what--she'll still win Michigan by about six points. But it'll also gain her votes in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, and Ohio. Oh, yeah--the Democrats are going to find out all right. They're going to find out that telling people to fuck off in a very public fashion is often the popular political move.

  7. Came here to post this. Here's the translation. A true Surly-esque poet. 10/10 Dostoevsky moment with a Russian guy witnessing the Marinovka air base following a Ukrainian drone assault. “There it is flying by, fuck. Fucking flying over again, fuck. It’s all fucking fucked up! Everything. It’s fucked as fuck. They’re fucking bombing it since 2.30 am, and they still are fucking it now. It’s a serious tragedy, folks. This is serious stuff. It’s all fucking on fire. And it’s fucking smoke. It’s all fucking exploding. That’s it. The Oktyabrsky airfield is fucking fucked as fuck. That’s really something else. And all the new hangars, it’s all blown up in the air, fuck.”

  8. The 2024 DNC is the therapy that I never realized I needed until yesterday. I believe some weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I had already asked my wife if I could sign up for phone bank duty a couple weeks ago and she was rightfully non-committal given the projects I had wanted to focus on at work before the end of the year on top of home stuff. After Walz was done, she said, let's do the phone banks together and that we'll figure out. Then she cracked, "we don't have to wait til we die to sleep, we just have to wait until 2025". My wife didn't know about Walz's IVF journey. We are both the children of two immigrants and have two kids because of IVF (several failed IUIs and one failed IVF before a successful pregnancy). These motherfuckers have pissed off the wrong woman. We're going to fucking "DO SOMETHING"

  9. Fuck him for going after Shapiro about Israel, and his continued nonsensical diatribes that suggest that to be a good Jew you have to be a GQP member and also the antisemitic trope that Israel has to be more important to American Jews than the country they're actually living in. This American Jew is fucking sick of him attacking the Jewish values I hold dear, including welcoming the stranger, the right for women to control their own bodies, the importance of education, religious freedom, and i could go on. Most of this is just noise to me at this point. But I will never forgive his supporters, for supporting this crap.

  10. What a likable, strong ticket. Hillary felt like a coronation, Biden felt perfunctory, but this feels like honestly the best shot the Dems have taken in my entire life. If this doesn't beat Trumpism, our country deserves to be destroyed.

  11. It's no secret that I'm about as cynical and jaded as they come. And I've got chills right now. If this woman doesn't beat that man, there is no justice in this world. Let's fucking go.

  14. I sometimes think White folks who consider themselves "liberal" or quite inclusive, have a big blindspot on how these interactions actually work. What the above doesn't consider is how normal and blasé, this is to Black folks. The currency to be indignant and have a zero tolerance policy for interacting with either MAGA or hard-core conservatives, exists only on the social media hyperspace for most Black people. Do you really believe Black families have some mental fog about the political leanings of say Nick Saban, or even more obviously Mike Gundy? And yet, players have committed to them and will continue to do so. The players are quite well aware of Quinn or Arch, or Nick Bosa. But if you are Black, and work in some spaces, you will just to know how to have real, true relationships with these people and at the same time not be under any illusions of where they stand. I hesitate to use the word, "learn", because you don't learn it; it's just the way things are. People are complex. Peyton Manning likely voted Republican (and gives money to HBCUs). Brady has done a good job of dialing it back lately, but we know what his relationship with Trump is. You would be hard pressed to find two other players that would be as comfortably welcomed onto say a Black (the Pivot) Sports Podcast, or cutting it up with Black athletes as those two. You think Dawn Staley doesn't know or understand that part of Brady? But this isn't something special to athletics. If you are a Black lawyer, or doctor, or accountant, or engineer, or any other sort of professional, you could easily point to colleagues from work that are actual friends, that voted for Trump and are gearing up to do so again. Two of my mentors fit that to a tee. Yet, I have no hesitation about calling them for advice on cases/patients, or work issues, or career moves etc. I know they don't consider me inferior or would sabotage me, and yet there is no guessing on their votes for this election. If that seems hard to square, I don't know what to tell you. I'm just telling you, as a Black person, there is nothing out of the ordinary "interacting" with such people.

  15. Lulz. I don't have the ability to post the screenshot right now but, Texas State fans posts a pic of their stadium. Aggy responds by asking what high school stadium that is. Texas State gut responds, "A stadium whose seen its team beat App State". @Bobcat Den if anyone wants to see it.

  20. Marinovka Airbase, June 2022 photo, (~350 miles SE of Kharkiv), all the planes clustered close together, pre Pearl Harbor strategy. Marinovka Airbase, April 2024 photo, some of the planes clustered close together, with the shiny new hangers built during the SMO. Sounds like the Fucking Fucked Fuckers are all Fucked up. You gotta love the irony of Russia having this massive military complex, protected by the thin veneer of a belief that no one would ever attack them. Over time, technology evolves, developing satellites with a 3 inch resolution, a GPS system that put the cross hairs in your ear hole, and guided munitions that can put it all together. And still, the belief that no one would ever attack them. The reality; And then, one day, you launch a Special Military Operation, with a 3 day plan that includes sending in the troops, with their parade dress uniforms packed, but with no food or water. Yeah, Custer had a plan, too.
