Jesus it's insane that this election is even close. It was sickeningly astonishing the first time Trump won, but for Americans to put him in office again after everything he's done is just a big middle finger to the concept of responsible, democratic government. Voting for Trump is not an act of ignorance anymore, it's an act of malice.28 points

Gotta put in the work to get a pardon. Coach Pop ain’t got time for Trump’s bullshit.22 points

I never want to see A&M win. I never want to see OU win. I don't care what those victories might do for us, there is no way my mind could flip that switch.18 points

It's been a good week. Both kids at UT voted (one for the first time) for Harris/Walz and texted and helped get some of their like-minded friends registered earlier in the year. Wife and I just voted today for democrats across the board here in Harris County. We walked out and high-fived and made it back in time to crack a beer for kickoff. LFG!17 points

Do you even lift, bro? There has never been a less western president than president Trump. The Latin root word of virtue is “vir, meaning man, or hero. There has never been a weaker, more pliant and hysterical (also shares a root with “uterus”) leader of a western power. Women are voting for Harris not because she is a woman but because he is not a real man. Weak men can’t tell the difference. Women are hard-wired to know. Real talk, doughboy.16 points

An away win against a ranked team and let's never speak of this again.16 points

I had been taught about the poll tax, but it didn't really land until last year when I was helping my wife and her sister go through their dad's papers after he passed away. He had kept poll tax receipts that he and his father-in-law had paid, going back to the 40s. When you see that a person had to pay $75 in 1948 dollars to vote, that brings home just how onerous the poll tax was. That lady is an absolute hero and treasure.16 points

It’s “close” bc the media is selling you a 50/50 horse race. It’s “close” because every polling firm is terrified to be wrong again and making the polls reflect a 50/50 race so they can say “well it could have gone either way!” It’s really not going to be that close. 2012 redux16 points

This shit. This shit right here. All of it. It's why this country is heading into a dark age at absolute best, regardless of who wins the election. Trump may or may not win, I honestly have no idea (gun to my head - he does, we simply cannot have nice things). But this shit is too far gone.16 points

Mine and Mrs C-Man’s votes are in as of a few mins ago. Chalk up two more votes in Texas for Kamala and Collin!15 points

I’m glad you are talking about the kind of shit America was built for. Let’s start with democracy and the peaceful transfer of power. 1/6 is disqualifying by itself, which is to say nothing of Trump’s moral failings, his lack of any character, and multiple failed businesses. And I have even mentioned the crimes yet. There has never been someone less qualified to be the president than Trump. That was true in 2016 and is only more true now having seen him in the role. Now let’s talk policy. Trump had no real policy. Sure he will spout off some bullshit that makes insecure Americans feel better about themselves while demonizing immigrants but he’s not trying to solve shit. See the border bill he tanked. He will say stupid shit like the solution to grocery prices is to drill baby drill, totally glossing over the fact that the US is producing more oil than ever. His latest student body president idea is to totally get rid of income taxes in favor of tariffs. Next, domestic policy. There has never been so much division and discord sewn from the Oval Office as this guy. Hell he gassed peaceful protestors so he could take a picture in front of a church holding a bible. Don’t even get me started on that hypocrisy. His affinity for white supremacists is un-questioned. Stand back and stand by. He bragged to the NRA about not doing anything after school shootings and tells us we just have to live with it. His handling of COVID was terrible and led to unnecessary deaths. Next up, foreign policy. He literally salutes North Korea. He’s Putin’s bitch. He will absolutely sellout our allies just to get some compliments from these people. He has no interest or ability to strengthen America’s relationship with those countries that deserve and need our alliance. Contrary to what his supports say about “strength” he was literally the laughing stock amongst other democratic world leaders as well as likely the authoritarians and dictators whom know he can be manipulated easier than a child. Finally let’s talk about the people he surrounds himself with. Mattis, Kelly etc… have all sounded the alarm on this dude and yet we are supposed to believe him over people who have spent a lifetime in honorable service to our country. Notice that it’s always everyone else’s fault with Trump. He is the common fucking denominator here man. And the thing is, during his next term those guardrails are gone. Replaced by Stephen Miller and Laura Loomer, while being emboldened by an out of control SCOTUS that has given him unchecked power. These are just my cliff notes working from memory. I’m sure there is more as we have all forgotten just how bad it was when he was in office.15 points

Georgia overnight data dump highlights: 1. 2.614 million votes have now been cast 2 Women outpace men by 300k 55.5% to 44% (a .1% uptick from yesterday) 3. Vote totals against 2020 - EV voters make up 76.4%, day of voters 6.6%, and non voters 17% The 2020 early voters now make up 2 million of the 2.614 million, while the day of make up 174k. The big question then, who are the 444k non voters from 2020 (this will determine the winner)? Demographic breakdown of the non voter White - 237k Black - 107k Hispanic - 22k Asian - 19k Other - 59k By Gender Female - 233k Male - 199k Other/Unknown -12k By Age 18-29 - 140k 30-39 - 64k 40-49 - 55k 50-64 - 89k 65+ - 88k Unknown - 9k Fortress Atlanta 2020 Non Voters Clayton County - 10k Cobb County - 31k Dekalb Couny - 30k Douglas County - 6.2k Fulton County - 58k Gwinett County - 38k So the curious thing this week will be if we see a voting turnout that runs out of steam. We've now exceeded EV turnout by 300k from 2020, and 2020 EV voters that haven't voted only represent about 325k. I've been expecting a bit of slow down, but yesterday proved to be the exact opposite. It now appears that Georgia will easily exceed 3 million votes cast by Friday, the end of EV. The real question is how high this total will actually go. Is 3.5 million possible? Well I'd have certainly told you no before all this, but now I think it's almost assured. The engagement is fantastic, and I certainly believe that favors us strongly. Apathy is our enemy, and I don't see any.15 points

Forgot to say, voted today in Astoria since it is the first day of EV in NY state, doors opened at 9am. At 940ish am the door guy said they’d already had 150 come through but there was no line when we showed up. By the time we left, there was a 25 person line at the door with a handful of people strolling up from down the block. Got my vote in for AOC, Kamala, and essentially all dems since the working families party had all the same candidates, I just voted in their column. FUCK traitor pedo convicted felon, rapist bankrupt “businesssman” don old. Go wither in the ashes of the wrong side of history you vile pathetic waste of flesh14 points

you should. i went down the rabbit hole a couple years ago (i think i even made a post about it) and watched/read/listened to a ton of stuff about the late 30's - basically what was going on in the u.s. after hitler invaded poland but before we got involved in the war. it's really fascinating. maddow did a podcast called "ultra" that was great, whether you like her or not. i watched "the plot against america" (which i skipped when it aired), oliver stone's untold history of the united states. it's a really interesting chunk of american history that nobody really pays attention to (or purposely forgets) because 1941-1945 overshadows it all. the older i get, the more i realize even at a good middle school/public high school/ut, i don't know shit about history outside of the major events and what becomes a tv show or movie. consider that most of maga + the orange man-god himself relies mostly on jr high education (he's still learning about abraham lincoln ffs) and bold type history. you shouldn't need more motivation than that. over the past 10 years or so, what i used to consume in sports, i now consume in history. then i found the surly cloak room and flushed it all down the toilet. so thanks. assholes.14 points

My God. This is maybe the dumbest thing I’ve ever read. We are voting against a man who TRIED to ACTIVELY OVERTHROW OUR GOVERNMENT. This is the United States. This is not Russia or Venezuela or NK. We have LAWS.13 points

Polls have sample sizes of hundreds or a couple of thousand. Early voting has sample size of millions. It’s not theoretical or speculative. All polling is based on modeling from past elections. There has never been a gender gap like this in turnout. If Harris wins by a surprising number, this will be why pollsters didn’t see it coming.12 points
