  1. My FIL and his wife (my wife's stepmom)voted for Trump. The stepmom is the daughter of immigrants from Mexico. Her brother is gay and her sister is bi (just got out of a relationship of several years with a woman). Stepmom's brother and sister told us their relationship with my FIL and his wife has completely changed. The stepmom's daughter was texting with me today saying she's furious and would love to cut them out of her life (I don't see it happening). The FIL and stepmom have been bugging my wife and I to have a third kid. That obviously isn't happening anymore. They also have asked us to come over close to every other weekend so they can see their grandkids. I told my wife I was good with maybe coming over once a month or even less than that. Lots of FAFO going on.

  6. They were so concerned about it they have spent their entire adult life talking about it - right? Vivek finished Yale law a decade ago. Surely there is a ton of comments about him being the "government spends too much" guy since then, right? Nope. No talk when he was president about reducing foreign aide, changing military, and wants to actually expand into Taiwan to protect them. He didn't offer any actual cost cutting ideas while president outside of getting rid of 75 percent of federal employees which does nothing to actually make any system more efficient. Cutting that much staff does NOTHING to make a system more efficient, in fact across the board cuts make things less efficient almost anywhere. You aren't changing processes or modernizing - you aren't cutting back the under growth, instead you are just clear cutting down the entire forest to reduce the likelihood of forest fires and leading to a million other issues. Musk is so worried about the ~20 billion in federal subsidies his companies have gotten that he has paid it back out of his vast fortune, right? He's been interested in making all of his companies more effort for his whole career, right? That's why he made himself, the CEO of a company who has more than 100,000 employees, have to sign off on every single hire the company made. That's efficient, right? When your company is shitting the bed financially - which make no mistake they absolutely are - instead of quadrupling down on the business and working even harder to turn it around, he purchased a social media company and has spent countless hours on it. That's not even considering the incredible number of hours he's played on Diablo, literally this year he said he played 14 straight hours and is currently one of the top 20 players in a game that's one of the grindiest games ever. Sure sounds like he cares about efficiency in business to me. Funny enough these people's entire plan is to basically fire everyone that works for the government. Not reduce waste in process, not modernize, not apply Lean 6 Sigma concepts, not get rid of low performers, not add in AI, not centralize the business - just across the board axing of people - Vivek wants to do it based on if your SSN ends in an even or odd number. Both them, and you, are not serious people and are not serious about reducing government spending. Estimates are that employer costs - including military plus other federal employees - make up about 10 percent of the total budget. Haven't seen either of these guys who are "so interested" in the government's financial state talk about the 73 percent of spending that is social security, Medicare, etc and adjusting that. Instead of that chunk they want to focus on the 23 percent that make up discretionary spending, and almost half of that is military or veterans benefits - which they also don't want to touch. So they focus on ~12 percent of spending out of the whole pie instead of the actual large chunks. These guys have billions and billions between them and they can't spare any money to pay someone to actually come up with ways to review programs across the board to make things more efficient? Not even in the sandboxes they play in (FDA and NASA?) - not at all in the last DECADE? Not in the last four years when the president was from the other party and they could use this to attack him? Not even when one of them ran for president? Not. Serious. People.

  10. Nothing could've possibly happened in the past 3 years. There shouldn't be exceptions for those background checks. It doesn't matter if you had one 6 months ago. Go through the process.

  11. I just think it is funny that every time we have played Arkansas since 1991 us old timers try to explain how Arkansas is nuts and they hate our guts and their team is going to be ready to destroy us...and then we are told "oh it will be fine." And then this shit happens: 9/11/2021 Fayetteville, AR Texas 21 Arkansas 40 12/29/2014 Houston, TX Texas 7 Arkansas 31 9/27/2008 Austin, TX Texas 52 Arkansas 10 9/11/2004 Fayetteville, AR Texas 22 Arkansas 20 9/13/2003 Austin, TX Texas 28 Arkansas 38 1/1/2000 Dallas, TX Texas 6 Arkansas 27 So yeah. Two wins, and by one of our best teams ever and another miraculous fluke where Arkansas choked it away against one of our other best teams ever, and four humiliating beat downs. But go ahead and explain how it will be fine. Be ready, Arkansas hates our guts. This is just like the OU game. We better not come out hoping to survive the surge or whatever Mack said.

  19. CJ Vogel Texas is headed to Fayetteville for their matchup against Arkansas as we speak. While I am trekking the unamusing streets of Oklahoma, the team will be flying out of Austin and landing soon this morning. I did catch up with a source regarding the week of practice ahead of the trip to Fayetteville this weekend. Sarkisian has typically been complementary of his week of practice leading up to big games this season. Of course, we heard Sarkisian say last week the team brought juice and energy ahead of the Florida game and that certainly paid off. I have been told it’s been no different for the week of practice leading up to the Arkansas game. More specifically, I was told there was a really good week by QB Quinn Ewers. That β€œMojo” that Sarkisian spoke about getting back on the field earlier in the month would benefit greatly with another big time performance by the Texas quarterback. Based off this conversation, Ewers had a really strong week of practice. Sticking with the offense β€” despite having the most snaps of any wide receiver last week, freshman WR Ryan Wingo had just one reception against the Gators. I was not told if there would be a concerted effort to get No. 5 the rock, nor do I think I would report that, but that lack of production has not impacted Wingo’s approach to each practice this week. Texas is rolling with five wide receivers in β€œthe circle of trust” after a departure earlier this season. But I do look at Ryan Niblett as a 0.5 piece to the room for both the wide receivers and running backs. On top of the playmakers, I was told the right side of the offensive line was solid in practice as well. There has been an emphasis in communication over the last two weeks. Diagnosing presnap and executing well is key moving forward and that duo will get a solid test this weekend on the road. One final note, Jaydon Blue is at his healthiest status since the beginning of the season. Blue eclipsed 100 yards last Saturday and is looking to build on that again with a clean bill of health.

  27. There is a valid point to be made that Arkansas is hostile ground and shouldn't be taken casually, but for crying out loud the bulk of this team played at Alabama last year, Tech/Ok St/West Virginia, the Sugar Bowl last year, Michigan this year - they are used to high stakes games, games with intense crowds, and games where the local team has hate that isn't reciprocal. Let's not forget that the team rallied around the "farewell tour" last year, embracing the chance to get scoreboard on the entire conference. They remember the last time Texas played at Arkansas. They know what is at stake for the SEC championship and playoff berth. I have no idea what will happen on Saturday. I hope they play well. I expect they will. But if they lose it'll be because they played poorly and not because they were blindsided and intimidated by an 11AM Arkansas crowd.
