We didn’t win the sec in our first year. The zebras didn’t want us to. Burt Auburn didn’t want us to. We had about 10 things go against us- any of which went down differently, and we’d have hoisted the trophy. We didn’t do that (or have the ball bounce our way, or the whistles in some situations) but we got rewarded for a a good season with the coveted 5 seed. clemson at home, Arizona state in Atlanta and then Oregon, TN or Ohio State in Dallas for the shot to play for it all in the first time under this 12 team format. Texas is as good as anyone in college football this year. Our floor is really high because the defense is pretty great. I think our ceiling is high enough to win it all against who we are looking at playing. Lets freaking do this boys.49 points

Frankly, I don’t wanna hear shit about winnable games or looking forward to Arizona State or any kind of shit like that with the offense we have put out the last half of the season. I’m still fucking pissed about last night.31 points

I browsed the Atrocious Coaching thread on the football board. Such acid and wholesale condemnation after a narrow loss in a championship game is something in which (some) Texas fans will never be surpassed. I'm not happy with what happened yesterday. I think we have the better team, but we managed to lose. Congrats to Georgia. Fuck Kirby Smart. We seem to be all brakes (fabulous defense) and no gas (all those yards for 16 points). We make killing mistakes on offense with penalties and turnovers. I'm also aware of what appears to me to be a continuing trend towards the top: Sark learns. He's more reluctant to go for it on fourth down. He has invested heavily in defense (interesting in view of the FB board's new mantra that he's an ego-maniac obsessed only with drawing up fancy plays). He either arrived with ideas about the importance of culture or arrived at the importance of culture after he got here. Our kicking game sucks but that has to do with the kickers, IMHO. Our offensive discipline needs work. It's mainly one lineman, evidently, but it's killing us. All correctable. I like where we have been headed and believe we are still headed there.27 points

Ohio State got absolutely ram rodded. They likely have to beat Tennessee, then Oregon, then Texas, then Georgia to win it all. And they still have Ryan Day. You love to see it.23 points

I'm so fucking mad today. Yes, we made mistakes (Quinn and Strawberry Shortcake, esp), and yes, we could've won anyway. But the total yardage at halftime was something like 260 to 54 and I believe each team had 1 turnover at that point. But the penalty yardage was 80-19. They kept Georgia in that game, because they were told to by the league office, and I hate conspiracy theories in general. And the booth watched it happen and pretended they didn't see it. You know you fucking saw it, Kirk, you gutless prick. I was sitting there at halftime fuming, because we all knew Georgia would play better in the second half. We needed to be up 17-3 instead of 6-3, and we played well enough to have that lead, but we were not allowed to. Fuck you, SEC.23 points

Signed up just to post in this thread. My older son and I are Georgia Tech grads (we "got out"). My younger son is Texas Ex (CS). I fell in love with UT while he was there. My two favorite teams are the Horns and the Jackets. Both great academic schools with great traditions. I've had two consecutive games of this SEC officiating bullshit with georgia. The officials pulled georgia back into the GT game in the second half. On a fourth down play in the end zone, they called a bullshit PI. The announcers said the ball "appeared to be tipped." Reviewed? Nope. If it was tipped, no PI. Then on a GT fumble, you see a georgia player come in with his head down, and the King's (QB) head snap sideways. The comment was that the georgia player's helmet hit the ball. That caused King's head to go sideways? Was it reviewed? Nope. Either one of those is called, and georgia loses. There is more--just like last night. I confess that I turned off the TV after the twin PI (as someone on this board called it) followed by the roughing the passer call to cover up the intentional grounding. I knew right then there was no way ABC/SEC were going to let UT win. Yes, I screamed at the TV before I turned it off. There was no way ABC/SEC were going to let an unranked team beat an SEC team that had qualified for the Championship game--and would have 3 losses. There was no way ABC/SEC were going to let a conference newcomer beat georgia--that would have suggested that the SEC was somehow weak. Then we have SMU and Clemson. Clemson had zero penalties. Same thing--would ABC/ACC allow a newcomer to further show ACC weakness? ABC/ESPN have huge investments in these conferences to protect. Just business I guess, but a sport without correctly enforced rules is not a sport. Hook 'em21 points

When you play good teams and good coaches sometimes you lose. The football board thinks we're entitled to win everytime we roll the football out. Georgia is a good team...its hardly surprising we struggled to put it in the end zone against them. Plus, every one of those fumbles bouncing right back to them didn't help. Sometimes you lose....it sucks..move on.21 points

VY won us a Natty because he had the moxie of a god. Let your fucking nuts hang. Where is that fire, confidence, and leadership from Quinn? It's nonexistent. Dude trots out there looking terrified, fucks up, and then sits back down on the bench with a dumb look on his face. He'll throw a god tier pass every now and again, but he should be doing that. He's got the talent he just doesn't have the brain or the leadership ability for the job. And Sark handles him with kid gloves which is why Arch can't see the field even though it's obvious it would benefit the offense to have him in there more. Arch had that scramble against Aggy where he dogged it out, dove for the pylon, scored, and then got up flexing and mean mugging. The team went apeshit. That's the kind of shit you need in the college game. You need a guy not playing scared and who is willing to sell the fuck out to make it happen. Maybe when we're behind in a playoff game after Quinn has turned it over multiple times Sark will finally realize there's no more kicking the can down the road.20 points

3 of the last 4 games we scored 20, 17, and 16 in regulation. That's just fucking unacceptable with the skill on this offense and the talent on the line.19 points

If Georgia was called for the same DPIs or offensive holdings that we were, we win the game. If we stop that fake punt, we probably win the game. If Bert hits just one of his missed FGs, we win the game. If Colin Simmons is able to return that fumble for a TD, or if Guilbeau blocks for Jahdae so he can get the pick six, we win the game. Quinn missed some throws and Georgia missed a couple of picks too. The football gods (along with the refs) were on Georgia's side last night. Credit to them for gutting out the win though. They are who we thought they were, but we let them off the hook.19 points

You know, way back when I started a chant in the stadium (I have a witness and it can be heard on TV) of "free James Brown". I was at the UCLA in Pasadena when Major first started. I watched him get absolutely clobbered during a pass, pick his head up off the ground to see if he completed his pass. I became a fan. VY.. well, was VY, and it was obvious from the start. In the USC championship game prior to the final drive I turned to my friends and with absolute confidence told them "We got this." Then before the final play, "We're going to score." Colt had a drive that was so clear, and a heart so big it seemed like you could feel it in the stands. Sam fucking went. Sam went really, really hard. I've never felt any of those feeling about Quinn. I've never felt comfortable with Quinn in a tight game. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to fall. Last night after the game I get in the elevator with two late 20s Georgia fans (and their hot ass GF). They were clearly stoned, but actually cool. Georgia Guy 1: Man, that was a helluva game. Maybe we'll see you again in the playoffs. Me: Yeah man, it was a crazy game. Georgia Guy 2: I just gotta ask, when are you guys gonna get a clue and just start Manning? Me: Don't get me started. Hot ass girlfriend: Hey I want to dump my guy and go to your room instead. Me: Let's go. (66% of this conversation actually happened)15 points

Well, well. Ain’t this a bitch? I grew tired of watching what was apparently going to be a big Clemson win, said fuck it snd went on to bed (yeah, yeah; I’m an old fart; get up early and go to bed early). What hath the morning brung us? 95% of the post-SECCG posts on here are negative to whiny to downright hostile vs Sark, Quinn, Auburn, the O Line, other Surly posters or all of the above. Then I read of SMU’s big comeback trumped by Clemson’s walkaway very long field goal. So, apparently now the Committee will not be able to find a way to justify sending Bama to be sacrificed in the Horseshoe or on the Golden Dome in the midst of a fucking winter storm. Well, you know what? Maybe we shouldn’t have shit the bed vs both Vandy AND Oklahoma? Maybe we don’t DESERVE to be in the CFP. At least the Texas Longhorns are IN the motherfucker. And if you’re IN IT you can WIN IT. Now, say ten Hail Marys, my sons. Go forth and sin no more. 11:00 will be here soon. The Bama weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth will be loud and long. The sidewalk fan chorus to THOW OUT THAT YANKEE DA BOWAH will begin anew. Well, as my Yankee childhood friends used to chant, “Damn, damn, damn-shit fadiddlehopper!” Wait’ll next year. I hope I’m wrong.😑14 points

Interesting post worth noting. It's all over the place as usual, and he certainly didn't write it, but perhaps he is starting to see the true weakness behind Putin. And here's Zelenskyy Yesterday, I visited President @EmmanuelMacron at the Élysée Palace and had a good meeting with President @realDonaldTrump. We discussed important issues on the battlefield and in the global situation, from our frontlines to North Korea. I stated that we need a just and enduring peace—one that the Russians will not be able to destroy in a few years, as they have done repeatedly in the past. This is clear not only for our country and region. We see how Russia is now trying to subjugate Georgia after several wars against that country. Russia still does not want to ease its grip on Moldova. Now the Russians are retreating from Syria, but that does not mean they will not try to sow death there again. Russian military presence is also active in Africa, with the sole purpose of destabilization. Therefore, when we talk about effective peace with Russia, we must first and foremost talk about effective guarantees for peace. Ukrainians want peace more than anyone else. Russia brought war to our land, and it is Russia that most seeks to disrupt the possibility of peace. Updated data on Russian losses show over 750,000 casualties, including 198,000 killed and more than 550,000 wounded. Our people are defending their homes at the cost of their lives, and every life—of our soldiers and our civilians—is precious to us. Since the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine has lost 43,000 soldiers killed in action on the battlefield. There have been 370,000 cases of medical assistance for the wounded. It also needs to be mentioned that in our army approximately half of the soldiers wounded in action are later returning to the battlefield, and that our data also includes light or repeat injuries. One of the key distinctions between the Russian army and Ukraine’s Defense Forces is the level of frontline medicine, which is significantly higher in our forces. We are deeply grateful to everyone who supports its development, saves our wounded in action, and facilitates their rehabilitation. Since September this year, Russia has been losing troops on the battlefield at a ratio of 5-to-1, or even 6-to-1, compared to us. They want to seize more land before global pressure on them becomes unbearable. Additionally, we must not forget our people in Russian captivity—thousands of both military personnel and civilians, some of whom have been held since 2014, when the occupation began. Since February 24, 2022, we have already managed to bring 3,935 of our people home—3,767 soldiers and 168 civilians. But we must bring everyone back, and much work remains to be done. We must also establish the truth about all our people who are missing. We must also remember the Ukrainian children deported by Russia. Russians themselves admit that these abducted children number in the hundreds of thousands, dispersed across their territory. Returning them is the most challenging task. On the occupied territories of Ukraine, at least several million people remain. This is the reality of this war. It cannot simply end with a piece of paper and a few signatures. A ceasefire without guarantees can be reignited at any moment, as Putin has already done before. To ensure that Ukrainians no longer suffer losses, we must guarantee the reliability of peace and not turn a blind eye to occupation. We know Putin very well—he is addicted to war. He began his career with a brutal war against Chechnya and has been constantly fueling other wars. He can only be stopped by strength—the strength of world leaders who can become leaders of peace. We count on America and the entire world to help stop Putin. The only things he fears are America and global unity. It is precisely such peace through strength that we discuss with all our partners, as well as the steps and guarantees needed for the people and the state attacked by Russia. War cannot be endless—only peace must be permanent and reliable.12 points

I have no what the actual dynamics are, but Sark's handling of Quinn mentally just hasn't worked out IMO. The reality is Quinn has played a lot worse in games we won than he did tonight, but few people really bitched about it then and it doesn't look like Sark really addressed it either. The 9.95ers at OTF (mainly Gerry,Shipley, Coach Erwin) have been biting their tongues about Quinn since he returned from injury. You can tell they all think he's not getting it done, but tough to say anything when Texas continued to stack wins. Will be interesting to see what they say this week, especially considering Quinn wasn't the biggest issue tonight. The footwork and fundamentals with Quinn continue to be an issue in Year 3, and it's unacceptable. Is his QB trainer still heavily involved with him during the season? Why hasn't that stuff improved under Sark and Milwee? Why can't Quinn rip it when needed? Why are there clear mental blocks 30+ games into his career? Sark did everything in his power to cater to Quinn this year. After 2 UGA losses and below average performances offensively in many other games, let's please move forward doing everything we can to win a NC.12 points

Not a single questionable call against Georgia. Only called one hold late in the game when they were in field goal range already. Ignored blatant DPI 3X in the endzone, and one on the early interception. And then they just started with the pre-snap bullshit to negate turnovers. Ignored late hits and roughing the QB. Tried to get a player thrown out for tackling. Multiple times I saw hands to the face by them ignored, even on the TV replay going into a time out, they had one shown in slow motion. It was fucking ridiculous. There was no fucking way Texas were going to be allowed to win that game.11 points

I wanted this one really badly and it hurts not to get it. Red zone last year and red zone again and we can’t get the TD needed to win the game in regulation.11 points

Since Quinn has returned from injury against OU here is how much we have scored in the second half of those 8 games. 10 (OU) + 10 margin 15 (Georgia) + 8 margin 6 (Vanderbilt) -8 margin 14 (Florida) -3 margin 10 (Arkansas) 0 margin 7 (Kentucky) 0 margin 0 (A&M) -7 margin 10 (Georgia in SEC champ) -3 margin 8-game average = 9 points scored per second half Our number 1, generationally elite defense gave up 61 (Quinn gave up the other 14 himself) = 7.625 points allowed per second half So including the points Quinn spotted opponents, we are at a net negative mark for second half scoring down the most meaningful stretch of football on this year's schedule. Net second half margin last 8 games = -3 This is unreal. That is putrid. If we were Iowa, playing ball control, field position and dominate with defense game plans that would still be bad. But we don't have a punter, a kicker or a quarterback that allows us to play that style of game on purpose and gain a meaningful edge.11 points
