been at the in-laws for the last 5 days, and they're mostly aggy although some more than others. BiL is the hardcore one that usually has some thinly veiled comment about Sark or dildos. the others usually chime in when BiL gets it started. well. so far, i've seen zero aggy gear. nothing. not even a ball cap. no aggy gifts to each other. no talk about their "revenge" game. no talk about college football whatsoever. not even bomc themed discussions. in fact, they have no interest in any bowl games whatsoever much less playoffs. fucking glorious. 🤘44 points

Anecdotal face eating csb: my wife’s Trumper uncle, a non-white, first generation American who makes poor financial decisions, works for a government IT contractor. He has been working from home for a decade+; they’re broke, so they don’t own a car right now (“saving” for a new one). Yesterday at Christmas they showed up in my sister in law’s car, which they are borrowing because his company has mandated a return to the office in advance of the Trump/Musk administration. Dumbass voted for someone whose first change was to make him personally take on a 90 minute daily commute. SIL is also a Trumper so she’s getting her face eaten a lil bit too since she’s down a car now. They asked to borrow one of our cars for awhile which I would have done if he hadn’t brought up politics multiple fucking times on Christmas Day (and had the gall to start a conversation about how shitty the brand of car I drive is). Typing this made me mad as fuck. God dammit that guy fucking sucks.38 points

Not sure if this goes in Transfer Portal or OU thread. I'm putting it in both for maximum laughs.18 points

You are a bigger man than I am. If one of my dipshit MAGA uncles had asked to borrow my car, I would have responded: “No. It’s not my fault you are too poor to afford a car and too irresponsible plan your life. This is America, not some socialist hellhole where winners have to share their hard-earned rewards with lazy, entitled losers. My advice is to pick yourself up by your bootstraps. If you start early enough, you’ll have plenty of time to walk to the office.”18 points

I would like to "like" this, but there's not an emoji for this. It would need something to reflect that I am so incredulous that my jaw literally dropped. I'm stunned speechless by the fact that anybody could be so stupid. And as a "retired artist"--yeah, I join @RDCanecutter in his puzzlement as to how an artist "retires"--it's not like she doesn't have time to educate herself on the issues. She was fucking willfully ignorant. And she's going to suffer for it. Not that she'll ever realize that her suffering is in any part her fault, mind you. Not for a minute. It's mine--I'm a "coastal elite," after all. And more than that, it's the fault of those damned immigrants. Fuck her. She can get tossed out of her publicly financed housing and off her subsidized food stamps and die in a fucking ditch. It's not just that she's a drain on society; she's actively trying to undermine our society while draining off it. She can die and then burn in hell. Merry fucking Christmas, everyone.12 points

The part about habitual drunkards was definitely a call out to Surly Horns. The part about "surly bartenders" was a reference to Lonesome Dove, when Gus says, "Anyway, whacking a surly bartender ain't much of a crime." I know these things with 100% certainty.11 points

First of all, the minimum wage should be higher, as an enforcement tool to prevent employers from socializing the cost of doing business through the welfare system. It should NOT be a system of enabling low consumer costs or full employment- direct subsidy in the first case and stimulus or better yet direct employment in the second does that job a lot better and cheaper. I realize I’m a pro-market outlier, but as a general rule it’s my view that any employer with more than 1000ish employees or franchised business with the equivalent should be surcharged in the amount of public assistance received by any employee, prorated to the fraction of full time they work. Got an employee on Medicaid and SNAP because you don’t pay them enough to eat and see a doctor? You’re paying for it one way or another.11 points

I hope you're insistently filling in the gap with college football discussion and ignoring their silence. "I sure do love peaches. Anyone else like peaches?" "Y'all hear about this Skattebo guy out in the desert? Damn near untackle-able, they say. Elder folk tell tale that he once got hit by a bus crossing the street...bus split in two. Been racking my brain for days on how to handle someone like that." "Is Golden Corral open on New Years? Is anyone who wears an aggy mumu available to check on that for us?" etc.11 points

It’s some sort of anomaly in the realm of social physics. How can the aggies always be, at the same time, so predictable and also so stunning. We know it’s coming, and it is still amazing. They immediately abandoned the whole notion of correcting their culture issues when it became clear that going for mediocre character guys wasn’t going to yield 1+1=3 results. More like 1+1=1.25 results. So fuck that, let’s load up on as many shitheads and big time busts as we can, and convince ourselves that we, and we aggies alone, can fix each and every one of them. Farmers fight!! Holy shit. The College Station culture of adulation ahead of achievement is a poison for athletes arriving there who already believe their own hype. We know how this works all too well. It’s been a problem many times in many sports at Texas. Thank goodness it isn’t one now, really with any program. All anyone has to do is look east by an hour and half to be reminded of how cancerous that kind of shit can be.10 points

I think people saying Klubnick has a better game is pretty simple. He led his team to 24 pts vs a defense giving up 12. He had 3 TD passes vs a defense that gave up 4 the prior 12 games. He did that with 0 run game. Clemson RBs ran it 11 times in total. You put the cape on and are responsible for 80-85% of your offenses plays and double up the opposing defenses average pts allowed, that is a good game.10 points

We've got t-shirt fans all over the country and in Mexico if I'm not mistaken. A great many people want to see Texas good because it just feels we should be one of the teams almost always in the running. People wanted Alabama to come back. They're another national name. When we are good, we have people all over the country sporting the emblem. I don't think you see that for many other contenders. I think part of it is the elegance of the Longhorn emblem. Another part is that Texas really isn't tied to a specific region, so it's easy to feel included no matter where you're from. Of course, people will pull for underdogs against us. Once we win an NC (that's natty for all the idiots who've never sniffed one in the audience), some will want to see us taken down a notch: that's all just human nature. The new variable is the horns down gesture. That could catch on. It does appeal to the negative side. On TV, you see (losing) fans from other teams giving the gesture as though it's a death ray gun that will have some sort of profound impact on Longhorn fans. It's weird. I think the Aggies making a big deal about the Big 12 rule regarding hand gestures probably set this up in the SEC. The sips hate it when you do the horns down. They used their toxicity to create a rule against doing it.* The Aggies would be congratulating themselves on having one of their lies work against Texas, but they won't admit it's lie. I don't like the widespread use of "hate" in sports. It was considered a very strong word for most of my life. Maybe that's changed. I always pull against the Aggies except in a few rare cases where they've been an underdog but were fighting hard. Maybe 4 times in my life. I don't hate them. I despise their weirdo culture that paints Texas as evil rather than simply a rival. And their turning sports into a holy war. And their constant lying about the past. Fuck, maybe I do hate them. But nobody else! ETA * We had a receiver named Johnson Davis who scored a touchdown against Tech at Tech. He faced the endzone stands, did their guns up gesture then holstered the gun. That's it. The ref through threw a flag for taunting. We went to the Big 12 because players were not being penalized for doing the horns down. It was about whether or not to respect a school's hand sign. There is no rule specifying the horns down. The Big 12 ruled that no such negative gestures should be made. Fuck the lying Aggies.9 points

This is a pretty amazing quote. “He is more attuned to the needs of everyone instead of just the rich,” Mosura, 55, said on a recent afternoon. “I think he knows it’s the poor people that got him elected, so I think Trump is going to do more to help us.”8 points

Not gonna read 52 pages of what I'm sure is riveting discussion, but it hit me in the second half that we were currently playing without our preseason starting RB1, WR1, RT, C, and S... and we were still winning a playoff game by multiple scores and still have realistic national title aspirations. I'm sure there's plenty to discuss regarding actual in-game performance, but what Sark has accomplished from a program building perspective is nothing short of astonishing.8 points
