  3. The concept of the "market place of ideas" is pure trash and has taken us to this very place. Systemic disinformation be it BOTs or billionaire media tycoons have drown out reason in a sea of BS. TV news shows that presented 99.9% of the scientific community on equal footing with crackpot "experts" gave credence to insane positions that are now policy of the land. No, you don't have to hear out any idiotic idea. All ideas are not equal in quality or veracity. Quite a few of those ideas are deserving of ridicule and derision as are the intellectually deficient people who espouse them.

Giving people a pass for being shitty humans is not on my agenda for 2025 AT ALL. The system didn't create Trump the Rodneys of the world did. Trump looked at Rodney, saw an opportunity, and slid right in there. Rodney isn't trying to understand anyone else's plight except his own. Rodney has zero empathy for anyone but people like him. Fuck Rodney!

  12. It's so telling every "conservative" refuses to even try defending this shit, because the acting of actually putting those thoughts in writing necessitates that you examine them. And they're not in the habit of examining their thoughts. Sometimes doing that makes you change your mind.

  14. I know this is a troll, but I really don't think the average American is prepared for what is coming with the combination of 1) total Republican control and 2) the growing "fuck 'em" sentiment of average Democrat supporters. The demonization of the Democratic party has made most Republican supporters completely unaware/incredulous of how many times Democratic policies genuinely helped them over the last few decades. They are about to find out.

  16. Zelensky is right to take this position. The key to any deal he must make is the US putting arms into Ukrainian hands. So far, there is only take, no give. That said, don't you know Putin is whispering in tfg's ear, "I already have the lands with the minerals. Make a deal with me." Can you imagine a world where the US makes a deal to take an invaded country's valuable mineral assets from an invading power? Because that's where this is going.

I shared my thoughts on it on that thread. But one thing I never mentioned, Each of those trees you see in color is a maple. And the last few springs I have been making my own maple syrup. This will be year 3 and I finally bit the bullet on starting this thread. I will post a lot more details soon, but a few pictures of the process. And results 2023 2024 This year I also decided to build a dedicated evaporator instead of that jankey ass rig you see above

  19. They are fucking internet points and the only people who ever have to worry about being crowdsourced are trolls and outright bigots. If you are emotionally immature enough to let losing some internet points ruin your day, perhaps you shouldn't be posting to begin with. Ag with kids would be fine. The problem is that it's essentially impossible to defend anything happening to the country or within the American right as "conservative" while also staying in good faith. You just can't. So abloo-bloo-bloo CR so mean much echo chamber it's not worth even trying. Gimme a fucking break.

  21. The concept of shrinking the Federal Government isn't necessarily wrong. Doing it unconstitutionally and at random via corrupt means is not. The cruelty and humiliation of employees he expresses though just shows the lie that there is any dignity in work anymore. To be a worker is to be shat on and disrespected and just take it like a bitch. The only dignity is in ownership. Walmart, a job that often requires one to take government benefits to survive on mind you.

  23. So it looks like the US has buddied up with North Korea and Russia in opposing a UN resolution condemning the war and calling for Russian withdrawal. It's consistent with the insanity coming from the White House but still has that "wow" factor when you see it in an actual UN vote.

  24. The plan on National Parks is transparent as hell: starve them of resources so they can call them a failure and a cost-sink, and the only way to "save them" is to open them to "private investment." TLDR; Trump and Elon 100% plan to sell off our national treasures to their butt buddies. Yosemite is going to be some billionaire's private "retreat," and the American people can get fucked.

  26. We were planning on driving to California this summer - we were going to be in El Paso for a wedding and decided we could extend it into a trip since it's closer to our friends in San Diego than it is to Houston, and it would be cool to hit a bunch of the national parks in California and then on the way back (Grand Canyon, etc.) A friend of mine who works in for the National Park Service and who knew of our plans just sent us a message saying that he was told he can be fired or he can resign this week (I'm guessing it's a difference in benefits, but he didn't elaborate). Really sharp dude who is well-educated and well-connected in the business world and won't have a problem finding a job elsewhere - he's one of those types who got bored with the daily grind and changed things up after COVID, and his wife is an attorney with a big firm in California. He's not a park ranger, but he worked with the parks at the 35,000 foot level (I'm being vague on purpose). No idea if he's going to quit or make them fire him and take them to court, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the latter. Anyways, he told us to go ahead and cancel any plans we had for visiting national parks this summer - he said any that weren't outright closed were going to be so understaffed that the number of visitors allowed in would be a fraction of their capacity, and he said it was all very deliberately planned, and the only thing that could stop it would be Congress. I am not going to ask him to elaborate until he is fired or whatever, but I trust him to know what he's talking about when he used the phrase "deliberately planned". Musk has a hard-on for the NPS and some of the other agencies, and he is truly trying to hurt them as badly as he can, and daring Congress to stop him.

  27. The money had absolutely zero to do with this. There isn’t a donor out there begging for a random assistant hire. No they will not. Good lord. Texas has a ton of young recruiting support and Akina has all of the skins on the wall otherwise. I’m nowhere near 73, buddy. He’s the opposite. This is a bad take and you should feel bad.

No. 1 TE Mark Bowman schedules Texas official visit Will Turboff (Horns 247) While the nation's No. 1 tight end was initially expected to make the short trip to USC on June 6-8, his amended schedule now has him returning to Austin that weekend. After his sole gameday visit to date, Bowman said "they're number one for sure" when speaking about Texas to Horns247.

  30. This is what's already happening: Layoffs lead to National Parks cutting hours, limiting services National Parks across the country are cutting hours, cancelling cave tours, closing visitor centers and warning of other cutbacks following Trump administration cuts to the federal workforce. Park advocates and fired employees have been predicting those impacts for weeks, but a string of social media posts from park managers made after the Feb. 14 cuts appear to be the first formal acknowledgements. A Facebook post from the tiny Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument in Colorado announcing service cuts drew more than 10,000 comments. "I think it's going to be a very rough spring," said Cassidy Jones, a former park service ranger who now works for the nonprofit National Parks Conservation Association. Among other parks, Saguaro National Park in Tucson announced that it was closing its two visitors centers on Mondays starting Feb. 24. At Yosemite National Park, officials announced they're halting reservations for 577 coveted camping spots this summer. Effigy Mounds in Iowa said it's closing its visitor center two days a week until the summer. Online calendars for reservable tours in some parks show zero availability, a casualty of losing the rangers who led them. Carlsbad Caverns National Park has cancelled its guided tours, and announced that in March it will be ending self-guided tours. Visitors to other parks are also noting staffing problems, including at Grand Canyon National Park, where terminations cut deeply into the employees who staff the entrance stations, leading to long lines last weekend.

It's not a small number either and they cross political lines. Stranger things have happened, but I could see a critical mass developing around this and a whole lotta people outside outdoor culture saying, "Who knew?"
