  1. And that’s a first. Which for a man my age, is kind of extraordinary. Those of you who served in combat have undoubtedly seen it many times. I haven’t. Driving home along 360. Some guy decided it would be a good idea to cross the highway. It wasn’t. Car ahead of me hits him. Anytime a shoe flies off, it’s bad. This was no different. I suggest someone check his pulse. He doesn’t have one. Someone has the presence of mind to start chest compressions. That actually works, from the standpoint that it started the blood flowing as evidenced by the growing pool of blood from the back of his head. I didn’t do shit to help. You think you’d be a superhero in that situation. I certainly wasn’t. I stood there fairly slack-jawed. Then I went to Maudie’s and had a couple margaritas. I’m not feeling particularly great right now.

  4. My little brother committed murder, and was executed. He did die well, doing what he could for the victim's family. I was there in Huntsville for his execution. For the last two weeks before his death, a lawyer was doing what he could to get a stay. My job was to physically run around trying to get statements from people. My phone was ringing itself to pieces. Since then, I had his ghost pop into my car a couple of times on trips. A happy ghost, stopping by for a minute. Not a bad experience. What did bug me was hearing phantom cell phone rings for at least a year afterwards. For a while I'd travel with my phone turned off, just so I'd know it wasn't ringing.

  6. Here's another sad update from the 247 team. This time, it's Carter Karels attempting to smear lipstick all over the porcine hulk that is the ATM 2025 football outlook and roster. Highlights: -WR is a total rebuild and that Concepcion guy better be the fucking balls, because it's a dumpster fire around them. Hudson is gone and the Craver guy is currently suspended due to a drug bust. -DL isn't in much better shape. Outside of Regis, it's also a total rebuild. They're relying on players from lesser programs or guys who haven't played much at better programs. I don't even think Hicks was mentioned in the article. -Elko will not discuss injuries, so that have no clue whether or not most of the injured players from 2024 are even going to play this spring. -Lots of dependency on scrubs named Zeno, Bisontis, and Crownover. Bottom line, ATM has an experienced, if mediocre, OL coming back, along with a bad LB room and an even worse secondary. And Marcel "The Man" Reed. TE, WR, TB, DE, DT are all either question marks or outright fucked. Inevitably, Liucci will make the rounds this summer and tout their experience and work to convince folks "not to sleep on ATM" and voters will take the bait, as always. They'll enter the year ranked and not have a fucking prayer of being in that spot at season's end.

  8. When I was a student the Texas Union theater showed PORN. Nobody cared. The university should allow drag shows, Young Republican gatherings, square dances, Spanish for Gringos classes, hackey sack tournaments, basically anything that isn't discriminatory or constitutes a hate crime. Banning drag shows is discriminatory.

  9. I watched both of my parents die before my eyes in the hospital at separate times. In both cases I had travelled across the country to be with them and in both cases they passed away later on the very same day I arrived in town. It's a bit creepy, but I did get to say goodbye to both of them, which is something.

  12. I can work in the moment just fine. I’ve worked with people that lost their shit in the middle of the scene. That’s unprofessional and irresponsible. We get paid to keep our shit together when everyone else is losing theirs. It’s after the adrenaline wears off and you’re left to yourself that it becomes real. I have visitors from the past all the time. Best way I can explain it is it’s like the ghosts that Tommy Gavin sees in Rescue Me. The one that comes to see me more than the others is the 12 year old girl that hung herself in the garage with an extension cord because mom and mommy’s boyfriend chose her older sister to participate in the 3 way porno they made.

  13. Elon casually endorsing the idea of turning the U.S. into a Central American dictatorship. 5d chess to stop migrants by making America equally as bad. Also, imagine letting adult oppositional defiant disorder β€œlibertarianism” break your brain so badly that you feel compelled to goaltend for the richest defense contractor in the world, who is also a high-ranking government official. Very embarrassing. But many such cases. SAD!

  14. The astronaut came upβ€” big guy, tall with huge muscles. And he had tears in his eyes and he said β€œsir, thank you so much for rescuing us. Joe Biden could never.” And I said you better thank Elon too and he said β€œand Elon is the best, I’m never going to drive anything but a Tesla. He’s found so much corruption and is doing a great job.” Then I asked him, what if you’re in the space station and it’s depressurizing and it’s going to suck you into the black void. But inside the rescue capsule 10 feet away there’s a shark. Would you choose the freezing void or the shark? And I said β€œgimme the freezing void! I’m not taking the shark in the rescue capsule. Give me the freezing black void.” And the astronaut said it’s a good question. No one ever asked it before.

  24. Counterpoint: the conversation is over. There is no longer any rational evidence-based debate involving Musk. He and the tools he wields are an existential threat, immune to argument/debate or even the rule of law itself. As many of us have warned over and over, when you opt out of the rule of law, you are necessarily opting into rule of the gun. It's a dumb decision to make, we really wish that these assholes would stop it, but instead, they push down on the accelerator even harder. Responses like the above are a natural and expected outcome of their choice. TLDR: don't opt in to rule of the gun and then bitch when the rule is applied to you.

  26. Note how Ana and the Elon apologists are perfectly fine with this. Now, they'll come in here and say "it's just a tweet, don't be so alarmist." It's not "just a tweet." It is a statement....by the unelected co-president of the United States....on a platform that he owns....that goes to literally tens of millions of people.....calling for imprisoning any judges who dare rule against the regime. So remember, when they say "don't freak out, it's just a tweet," what they mean is "I agree with it, so I really don't want anyone taking any action based on this right now."

Use current model year vehicle The only passengers must be Swasticar employees The vehicle must be driven at all times by a Swasticar employee; no driverless rides allowed. If things go well, they may eventually be allowed to drive members of the public around in a taxi with a Swasticar driver.

  37. Listening to the PSA guys talk about how Schumer was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t with the shut down really drove home how fucked we might be. Basically, if he doesn’t give in, dotard gets to shut it down and maybe not reopen it for months, while him and Elon run roughshod over everything because in a shutdown the Executive basically runs it all. And if the Dems then came to the table to reopen, there’s no reason Rs would play ball. Because they just don’t care. If he gives in, as he did, it shows Rs and dotard that Dems don’t have the spine to stand up to them and save them from their own stupidity. So they have zero power in any capacity and the Rs will keep doing whatever they want with little to no consequence. We are living in a dictatorship of sorts already. This sucks.
