  1. Hello - this is Mark's wife, Maria. Someone forwarded this thread to me and I read it with Waylon and Wyatt. I can't tell you how much every single kind word means to us. I told the boys how beautiful it is that there are all of these people we don't know out there sending us love and we didn't even know about it. All because of Mark. We miss him every second of every day. Keep the stories coming. Thank you and hook 'em.

  5. Alright, so here is the deal. If Livingstone comes in and has over 500 yards receiving this season, then you have to wear a custom made #13 jersey with “McJaggerson” on the nameplate to games until he graduates.

  8. Aggy at 13-14. Their 14th loss last year was on June 23rd in the CWS final series, when they lost their first game to Tenn. They can still match last year's record - they just have to go 40-1 for the rest of their schedule.

  11. Ok, so I’m cleaning out my parents’ house and things. Boxes of things that even they had put away and forgotten about. Including some stuff from my grandparents, and I found my grandfather’s service records and photos from WWII. He never really talked about it much - I didn’t know what he did, evacuation kind of unit he was in, or any of that. About all he mentioned over the years was that he genuinely liked the German people the most, he learned to love potato bread, he hated the Red Cross because they tried to charge h for cigarettes immediately post-battle, and when I got an M-1 Carbine, he held it, took a minute, and said he’d carried one of those to Germany. I THINK he did have some ground combat experience, but he was primarily with the 10th Fighter Squadron as an armorer; he worked on P-47s and P-51s. He’s sitting on the wing in the first pic, standing on the right in the second (both taken in France). He’s on the wing of the Mustang in the bottom pic. I presume the snow covered P-47s are around the Battle of the Bulge. His unit crossed the Rhine at Worms (and of course, the obligatory Eiffel Tower pic): The papers are cool, too. He mustered in with a bunch of people from S Texas in 1942. He’s listed as a rancher from Alice, TX. There are some other pics. Including one - just one - of a makeshift morgue, with a shitload of bodies still on the ground, wooden coffins behind them. And then after his European adventure, back to S Texas to work with cattle and the oil patch, like so many others.

  14. For those of you who have been on this journey, you are all to well aware of how this impacts your life. Last week was the first post op PET scan (and an MRI for extra shits & giggles). And guess what....there is a spot on both, right about where the surgery was; and because that area is where radiation and surgery were there isn't a for sure answer as to what the spot really is. Tissue still irritated from prior treatments, something that was missed, or something new. The surgeon looked and looked and didn't see any visible signs of abnormal cells, though there are still a few areas where she could see cartilage and bone. Those areas had mucosal membrane removed during surgery, and we were told they take time to heal, and that the areas around them were healing. Waiting for an MRI next month, and 3 months for the PET (unless they see something earlier). I think this is the new norm, learning to live with the unknown, living in remission while fearing a relapse. So, in general, we do more things for us, and try to remain positive (I am a huge believer in the power of a positive attitude). And for all these reasons we will spend a little more time in the Houston heat this summer. Go Green & Hook'em

  16. @InkaUtexas I've emailed them a CV and some of my history and training as a soldier but, shit, I ETS'd in 2005, so it doesn't mean much IMO. Thank you again for the rec. Worst case, I'll just swing a hammer and move rubble with one of the other orgs. World Central kitchen ain't takin' volunteers, so that's out, too. For those that are interested in doing something similar, keep in mind that travel time really eats away at how much time you can spend there. Unfortunately, I have a hard stop on Friday 9 May because I have to pick my kids up from school that afternoon. Anyway, here's my itinerary. I picked a central Kyiv Airbnb so I can get to any volunteer muster point easily via Metro or bus. And it's cancellable until the day before in case I ended up HQ'ed somewhere out east for the 1st thru the 6th. Only need to book the train from Kyiv to Lviv once Ukrzaliznytsia starts selling them.

  17. IT After receiving immediate input on Parker Livingstone’s third strong practice in a row, IT asked another source to name the first player who comes to mind after Saturday’s practice. Unsurprisingly, the response was yet again Parker Livingstone. While we don’t want to create a cult hero before he produces on the field, we wouldn’t be doing our job if we didn’t report what was happening in practice. You’re in control of your expectations; we’re in control of reporting what’s happening. It would be half-assed reporting if we said, “Arch Manning yet again threw a couple of play-action bombs to… someone.” The truth is, Livingstone is giving corners trouble. They’re going to need to turn and run earlier in the route, which gives him more leverage to snap it off. He had at least two touchdowns on the day. ***Play-action passing seems like something the staff is intent on leaning on with this personnel group. We heard that in the preceding months, but it’s coming to life on the field. It’s been a hallmark of the first three practices. ***Manning yet again took care of the ball. He was making the right reads and checked down when he needed to. He’s showing good command of the offense. ***KJ Lacey made a few plays, too. He threw a deep ‘over’ route that gained attention. He’s also been decisive when it comes to throwing it or taking off and running. ***Who won, the offense or defense? “The defense almost always wins, but today [Saturday] was much more even. The offense is using more misdirection that’s slowed the defense just a bit.” ***Jerrick Gibson had a good practice. It was thud tempo, but that still makes for a physical practice, and Gibson ran it well. I think the source mentioned Tre Wisner too, but I was struggling to keep up with the notes. The source definitely said Rickey Stewart and James Simon were running it hard. “They’re rising to the occasion.” ***More wide receiver notes, especially one for Ian Boyd. Daylan McCutcheon and Michael Terry were in the slot. Yes, Michael Terry. Jaime Ffrench has worked there as well. The young wide receivers practice with physical intent, which is encouraging with a number of older DBs trying to rough them up. ***IT asked about Ryan Wingo. “Wingo is Wingo. You don’t have to worry about him. He’s bigger and faster, and they’re involving him more on gadget stuff and end-arounds.” ***Jeff Banks continues to give Jordan Washington extra attention. Washington is an important piece. ***Will linebacker continues to trend towards a 1A/1B scenario with Liona Lefau and Trey Moore. “Liona is playing really well. Moore is like a LB version of Jahdae. They can ask him to play anywhere or do anything.” The more they evolve Moore, the more they can evolve the scheme. ***Xavier Filsaime is looking a bit more physical than last year. That probably has to do with increased confidence and a year in S&C. All the safeties will hit you. ***We like themes from practice because it tells a more reliable story. Santana Wilson had yet another pick at corner. I think that makes three in three practices. Wardell Mack and Ryan Niblett both played nickel. ***DJ Campbell is moving his best ever and becoming more of a leader. And, “Cole Hutson is the most underrated guy in that room.” ***The D-tackles “look pretty good. We’ll know more when the pads come on.” Overall, this team is a bit different than last year. In years past, they sort of eased into spring ball. They seemed to really hit the ground running this year. That could be the infusion of youth and so much playing time up for grabs. Or it could be that guys are simply playing more freely, per one source. The source finished with, “Monday will be the first full pads practice, and full pads separate the men from the boys.” As the old joke goes, in that way, it’s like filters on Paul Wadlington’s dating app.

  30. I am going to try hard and not Cr this. But I think it needs to be said. Thailand is a key ally in SE Asia. Burma is tottering. I read the news today and I see all the other countries heading in with assistance. the US? nope. Where the fuck are the FAST teams? Oh yeah, USAID. Why has Farifax, LA County or Miami not deployed their rescue teams? Has the WASP been sent in to conduct coordination? We make fun of our country quite a bit. And rightfully so. When it comes to Humanitarian shit no one is better. We can drop in an ATC group anywhere and coordinate flights. Take over a port and get shit offloaded? Yep, we are damn good. And silence. In a previous time I would be heading to the area. Straight to the center? nope. That is where the experts need to be. We would be coordinating with all our allies, the USN, the USAF from a country near by. This really makes me sad. All of my friends feel helpless we are not heading in. Rant over. God protect those in the area. Except for the Burmese generals. Fuck those asian aggies.

Stopped by earlier to pick up a 4pk of Superliner IPA and a calabreze pizza to go with March Madness games. Both are fucking fantastic. R.I.P. Mark, you fantastic SOB. Once when his heart stops beating, then when he is buried/cremated and then the last time anybody says his name. So I'm doing my best to keep him alive.
