  1. I have been influenced by Stonekettle’s thoughts for a long time. Here’s an example of why.

  2. He is the worst type of asshole involved. He lent his credibility to a bunch of loons, thought he could control the loons, and now wants to jump ship after being associated with the worst intentional financial-trade decisions in modern history. That is his fucking legacy and the legacy he leaves for his children.

  3. Musk needs to drink hemlock. He was a chief creator of this monster. When this is over, his body needs to be one of the many ceremonially shoved onto a hole with a bulldozer. He has created destruction and death on a global scale (yep, see what shutting down USAID has already done). His death will be a glorious moment for humanity. May his ketamine be laced, or may he just finally grasp how hated he is and end it all.

  4. Interesting day in my area... A local protest was 'hosted' by Rick Steves (the PBS travel guy), whose office is in the nearby town. He's in purple shirt with the megaphone here. He talked about being in Istanbul this past week and how the Turkish government had shifted to a dictatorship from a democracy... And described the ways the US was following the same path. He also joked about this protest being a pledge drive for PBS... Which was hilarious, and was part of his description around governments taking over legacy media.

  6. Only a MAGA can describe the potential destruction of his business due to Trump’s batshit crazy tariffs as “bittersweet.”

  8. He’s not a “good dude” for Texas. Outside of him showing up with embarrassing offers to land transfers in various sports, the guy has been behind legislature meddling on two fronts. One, he’s actually tried to build a coalition that would force Texas to play in-state schools in non-cons across all sports, with a rotation format. Fuck him in every orifice for that alone. Two, he’s been involved with trying to get Tech a share of the PUF or whatever it is called regarding the land UT owns and already shares, via legislature bullying years ago, with ATM. So fuck that guy and his shitty university.

  12. I'm a financial advisor. I've coached clients for years that there are four things you have to do: 1. Make sure your investments match your risk tolerance. 2. Make sure you're well-diversified. 3. Stay invested all the time. Market timing is a fool's errand in the 21st Century. 4. Keep feeding the piggy bank -- see Dollar Cost Averaging. I still believe all of that. And by that logic, you stay the course and console yourself about the losses with the knowledge that you're picking up more shares while they're on sale for the next few months. But this shit here is absolutely unprecedented. I wouldn't blame anybody if they wanted to move to cash and reevaluate in a month or two. Fun fact: When the VIX gets above 30, that tends to be very bad news for the stock market. It's jumped from 21 to 45 in the last few sessions. So, yeah, I'm not about to give financial advice on the internet. But anybody who tells you they know what's coming next week, in either direction, is 100% full of shit. Let your conscience and your risk tolerance be your guide.

  19. Went to the one in Frisco. Cop I talked to said he figured the crowd was 600+. It was spread along about a 1/4 mile stretch of Hwy 423 in a heavy trafficked area so lots of visibility. Last estimate from Alt. National Park Service was in the neighborhood of 5 million nationwide. Don’t know how accurate that is but that would be in the vicinity of the third largest National protests in history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_protests_and_demonstrations_in_the_United_States_by_size Did it do any good? Dunno. Did it make me feel a little better? Yup.

  24. I went to TexAgs expecting celebration. These guys are really down. Then there's this mantra followed by an element of truth. Maybe you're just doing less with less. You have lesser coaches working for historically mediocre programs that don't recruit at high levels unless there's lots of money or the recruits have been indoctrinated from an early age. The assumption that A&M is somehow "more" or a sleeping giant is a part of your dishonest mythology that includes stories of the corps loading artillery onto a flatcar to shell Waco or how you're the victim in every riot you started. The absurd tragedy of the bonfire fiasco is turned into something heroic. You build an idiotically big tower of logs without a safe plan for doing so. The day will not come that the veil that hides the extraordinariness will be lifted for all will see how wonderful A&M really is. There is no veil. Everybody sees a bunch of weirdos. Fine, embrace that. Congratulate yourselves on delusions of being a "part of something bigger than yourselves." Constant self-congratulation and certainty that nothing can be wrong is the magic combination for success in any endeavor. Keep up the good work!

  32. Correct - and he just simped for all of the policies on Meet the Press. He’s not competent to be leading a McDonald’s. Dude can’t even complete a fucking sentence. God almighty - people need to quit saying that such and such is competent. Heard the same about Rubio and he’s a clown too.

  33. Everything about UT chaps their hides. I once had an aggie ask me, "Why does t.u. get to be called 'Texas?' A&M is in Texas, too. So is Tech, and TCU, and a bunch of other schools." I was dumbfounded. I replied that there are lots of schools in Michigan, but only The University of Michigan, is called Michigan. It's the default designation for the flagship public university in most states. So you know it pisses them off that one of the most iconic representations of the state of Texas-- the Longhorn breed of cattle-- is associated directly with UT, and not their own school.

  34. I attended our local Hands Off protest this afternoon. 200+ people gathered in front of a library with guest speakers and even a couple of F-bombs. It was downright rowdy by Sugar Land standards. I only wish they chose a place with more visibility.
